Chapter 174: Chapter 142: You Can Be the Director!

In theory, Yang Qi’s methods sounded flawless, but in practice, the comprehensive skills required of the practitioner were far too high. They were simply not something an average trainer could master in a short time.

It seemed that large-scale implementation was out of the question. At best, only a few of the top trainers could attempt to learn it, and even then, they would still need future guidance from Advisor Yang.

Yang Qi took in the blank, defeated, and pensive expressions on everyone’s faces and laughed inwardly.

’If I don’t set the bar this high and make it all sound so "complex," how can I emphasize how unique and irreplaceable I am? This way, by highlighting the difficulty, I’ll have the perfect excuse for later. When I teach others and they can’t achieve the desired results, I can just say: It’s not that I didn’t teach you; it’s that you couldn’t learn it properly. If you do a poor job, who can you blame?’

Seeing that the atmosphere had grown heavy and awkward,

Vice Director Zhao quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Alright, alright, there will be plenty of time to consult Advisor Yang on these technical matters later."

"It’s already noon. Heaven and earth can wait, but lunch can’t."

"Advisor Yang has been working hard all morning; he must be hungry. Let’s go, let’s go. Time for lunch at the cafeteria."

"The food in our base’s cafeteria is famous. I guarantee that once you try it, Advisor Yang, you’ll be wanting to come back for more!"

"Is that so? In that case, I’ll have to give it a proper try," Yang Qi replied with an agreeable smile.

The group made their way to the cafeteria.

The lunch was indeed lavish, with a well-balanced mix of meat and vegetable dishes.

Yang Qi didn’t hold back.

During the meal, he deliberately gorged himself on high-protein lean meats and fish, adding two large bowls of rice to his plate. At the same time, he secretly circulated a trace of Magical Power to speed up his digestion and absorption, preventing himself from actually getting stuffed.

His larger-than-life appetite once again left Vice Director Zhao, the veterinarians, and the trainers at the table clicking their tongues in silent amazement.

’This Advisor Yang... not only is his stamina freakish, but his appetite is just as incredible?’

An extraordinary man truly has an extraordinary stomach!

After a short rest, Yang Qi fulfilled his promise. He taught a simplified version of the "massage routine"—one that relied mainly on physical technique and observation—to the few veterinarians and trainers who were most interested. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Yang Qi demonstrated how to apply pressure to several key acupoints and a few basic techniques. He once again stressed the key principles: "Observe the dog’s reaction," "Use appropriate pressure," and "Adjust for each individual dog."

Everyone studied him intently, but their eyes were filled with the confusion of people who could see *how* it worked but not *why*.

After finishing the massage lesson, Yang Qi seized the opportunity to offer his first official recommendation as an advisor.

"Director Zhao, everyone, I’ve been observing the base’s environment and management. I have a rough suggestion I’d like to offer for your consideration."

"Please, Advisor Yang, go ahead," Vice Director Zhao said, his expression turning serious as he prepared to listen.

"I think that within the base, except for specific training exercises or situations where safety requires them, you should avoid leashing the police dogs as much as possible."

Yang Qi continued, "A leash is certainly a tool for management and safety. However, wearing one for long periods, especially when it’s taut, creates an invisible restraint and pressure on a dog, both psychologically and physiologically. This prevents them from fully relaxing and expressing their natural instincts."

"Giving the police dogs more freedom and trust within the safe, controlled environment of the base could have unexpected benefits. It could help build their confidence, stabilize their emotions, and even enhance the rapport between them and their trainers."

"Of course, this would require more comprehensive management protocols and emergency plans to support it."

The suggestion sounded "bold," perhaps even contrary to conventional management wisdom. But when considered alongside the abilities and philosophy Yang Qi had demonstrated, it somehow seemed to make sense.

The core of police dog training is "control and obedience."

The core of the Beast Taming Sect, however, is "understanding and empathy."

In terms of results, the Beast Taming Sect was naturally superior, but their Guardian Beasts were linked by a "Spirit Contract," which established dominance at a spiritual level.

For a police dog to pass muster, its animalistic and wild instincts must be suppressed. If they can’t be suppressed, the dog is culled from the program.

Wearing a collar while "on the clock" was one thing, but still having to wear one during "break time" or on the way home "after work" would make anyone complain.

Vice Director Zhao mulled it over for a moment. Instead of immediately shutting it down, he said with great solemnity,

"Advisor Yang, your suggestion is very enlightening."

"We will study it carefully, formulate a detailed trial plan, and begin to implement it gradually, on the condition that absolute safety can be guaranteed."

"That would be for the best," Yang Qi said with a nod.

As for "Spirit Awakening" and deeper-level contracts, there was no rush.

It wouldn’t be too late to wait a month or so, until he had established sufficient authority at the base and a deeper trust and connection with the police dogs. Then he could find an opportunity to "subtly influence" them.

Having made his suggestion,

Yang Qi took Hu Zi and Leopard, said his goodbyes, and drove back to the zoo.

...

After returning to his familiar surroundings and resting for a bit, Yang Qi grabbed his cleaning tools and went to do his daily cleaning and maintenance rounds, visiting the wolf enclosure, the raccoon cage, and the cage of the Beaked Eagle, Qi Zai.

While cleaning Qi Zai’s cage, the half-grown "King of the Sky" flapped its wings and landed on a perch near Yang Qi. It tilted its head and made a couple of gurgling sounds in its throat.

Master, when will you let me out?

My wings are getting stiff from being in here every day.

"Soon. Just a few more days."

Yang Qi replied as he continued to work.

"Once I’ve arranged things on the outside, I’ll let you out."

Fine.

Qi Zai let out a disappointed gurgle.

As everyone knows, training an eagle isn’t easy. Taming a large bird of prey is even harder, requiring immense patience and skill.

Although Yang Qi could control his Guardian Beasts immediately after forming a contract, he had to wait a week or so for the sake of appearances.
