Chapter 863: Chapter 774: Elemental Holy Body
After Duke dealt with Audric, he walked over to Vera to check on her condition.
Her magic robe was soaked in blood, the once pristine white fabric now turned a deep red, clinging tightly to her body.
Vera’s complexion was as pale as paper, her lips devoid of any trace of color, but her eyes were open, staring at him.
Those cold eyes held a multitude of emotions at the moment: exhaustion, relief, the joy of surviving a disaster, and a complexity Duke couldn’t decipher.
She had seen the scene just now, saw the colossal golden dragon plummeting from the clouds, saw Audric’s true form tumbling in the air, and saw the blood mist erupt when the sword light struck.
Vera also saw Duke standing behind that ancient, mysterious wall, unharmed.
"You’ve won, no one here can threaten you anymore." Vera’s voice was very soft, like a leaf falling onto the surface of a lake.
Her lips curled slightly, not into a smile, but into something lighter, as if discussing a matter unrelated to herself.
"Go, only one person can make it out of the third level alive."
Vera then raised her hand, her fingertips touching the Six-Ring Badge on her chest.
Golden light surged from the badge, like the first rays of dawn, gently enveloping her body.
Her body became transparent in the light, starting from the fingertips, gradually transforming into tiny specks of light, dissipating into the air.
Vera’s eyes were still on Duke in her final moments.
In those cold eyes, those complex emotions finally settled, leaving only something pure and clear.
Perhaps it was acceptance, perhaps blessing, perhaps a feeling that even she couldn’t articulate.
The light swallowed Vera, her figure vanished on the ancient battlefield.
Vera chose to voluntarily give up, and after being eliminated, she would be directly transported out of this test.
Anyway, she had already qualified, and she couldn’t be a match for Duke now, so she chose to give up.
Duke stood up, turned around, and looked toward the depths of the battlefield.
There were still people fighting, some hiding in the shadows, fantasizing about being the last one standing.
But those people were no longer important.
The only one Duke had sensed who still posed a threat to him was Morris.
However, within this third level, there was no trace of Morris’s presence, indicating Morris hadn’t entered this relic and was still outside.
Morris’s aura was so distinctive that if he were here, it would undoubtedly be recognized, with high identifiability.
He stepped forward.
This ancient battlefield was not large, essentially a place similar to a grand gladiatorial arena, naturally not too vast.
In Duke’s perception, the positions of those people were like candles in the night, clearly visible.
His spiritual power was like an invisible net, covering the entire battlefield, capturing every moving life force.
The first encounter was with two people, both wearing ordinary magic robes, their aura not weak, but before Duke, they didn’t possess the courage to resist.
Duke condensed his form from the sand flow and stood before them.
The two were confronting each other, and upon seeing Duke, their faces turned ashen simultaneously.
They had witnessed the recent battle, seen the wall blocking the golden light beam, seen the dragon’s head getting cleaved.
They knew that the person standing before them was beyond their ability to contend with.
One of them remained silent, merely reaching for his badge, and the golden light engulfed him.
The other hesitated for a moment, looked at Duke, then at his own magic wand, and ultimately chose the same path.
Two beams of golden light flashed in succession, and both disappeared from the battlefield.
They were wizards from small factions, with strong self-awareness.
Upon entering the third level, they intended to take a chance, exploit the chaos, without expecting to last till the end.
After witnessing Duke’s terrifying power, they abandoned any thoughts of resistance.
Though the examination venue had protective mechanisms, injuries sustained were real, so no one wanted to pointlessly inflict harm on themselves, hence they chose to voluntarily exit.
Duke appeared without immediate action, giving them a dignified way out.
It was clear Duke intended to clear the field; if they didn’t leave, he would send them away, no need to suffer.
Duke didn’t linger and continued onward.
Next were three wizards banding together, from a similar medium-sized faction, traveling together since the first level, battling their way to the third level.
When they saw Duke, they didn’t opt to flee but exchanged glances and simultaneously attacked.
Duke merely glanced at them indifferently, and the sand flow surged around him automatically.
Their magic couldn’t even breach his metallic yellow sand’s defenses, let alone pose a substantive threat.
The three men’s expressions changed, they wanted to cast spells once more, but Duke didn’t give them the opportunity.
The sand flow surged from the ground, snaring their ankles, fixing them in place.
The sand flow tightened, and their bones began to creak.
The first man couldn’t withstand it, and golden light shone from him, eliminating him.
The second man followed suit, and the third gritted his teeth, still intending to struggle, but Duke’s sand flow had already coiled around his neck.
He felt his breath growing increasingly labored, his vision gradually blurring.
