Chapter 225: Chapter 180: Lorna’s Happy Moment
「Three days later.」
Isaac gazed gleefully at the manuscript before him. *Lorna’s Study Time*, the Privilege Magic based on the two Authorities of [Truth] and [Trial], was finally complete!
This Privilege Magic would construct a special labyrinth. To escape, Lorna would need to complete two study tasks preset by Isaac and one she set for herself.
Of course, she wouldn’t be trapped inside forever if she failed to complete the tasks. This was, after all, Privilege Magic—merely an imitation of an Authority, not the Authority itself. Thus, the spell’s effect would only last for a day.
If she still hadn’t completed the three tasks after a day, she would be released automatically.
However, Isaac wasn’t worried about Lorna refusing to study. The labyrinth contained nothing but books, a vast, pure-white space. It would be agonizing not to find something to do in there just to distract oneself.
Furthermore, if she came out without completing the tasks, Isaac planned to give her a little punishment. A short bout of bad luck, perhaps?
Of course, this wasn’t about Isaac getting revenge on the Witch. He simply felt that a minor punishment could discipline Lorna without being too harsh, serving as an effective warning.
It was definitely not because Isaac himself had been hit with a bad luck Curse by Witches twice before!
Definitely not!
After tidying up the manuscript, he briefly sensed for Lorna’s location. When he found she was still on the training grounds, Isaac’s eyebrow shot up, and a delighted smile spread across his face.
’You walked right into this one...’
Isaac smiled at the manuscript on his desk, then left his study and headed toward the training grounds.
Before long, Isaac arrived at the training grounds. Just as he’d expected, Lorna was still sparring with the Silver Knight. It was obvious that both her Combat Techniques and her combat experience had improved significantly in just a few days.
After all, the Silver Knight was essentially a Mechanical Demonic Puppet. All his combat experience and Combat Techniques had been downloaded, making his range of fighting styles and techniques incredibly diverse. He was the perfect training partner.
Lorna herself was extremely interested in close-quarters combat, so it was only natural for her to improve so quickly.
As for the Silver Knight, his progress was even more remarkable. His built-in learning system had once been rigid, but that was in the past. He had now come to life, complete with his own thoughts, and he seemed to have a good deal of talent.
With a spark of genius and powerful processing abilities, it would have been unrealistic for him *not* to improve at a rapid pace.
"Immobilize!" Isaac pointed a finger from a distance, and Lorna, who was just about to leave, was instantly frozen in place.
It was clear Lorna had learned her lesson from the incident three days ago. Though immersed in her duel with the Silver Knight, she had kept a part of her mind on guard. She’d noticed Isaac the moment he arrived and was already preparing to flee.
Too bad for her. No matter how clever the prey, the hunter is always one step ahead. How could Isaac not have anticipated this?
Everything was going according to his calculations!
Isaac pushed up a pair of non-existent glasses. He nodded to the Silver Knight, who was bowing to him, and strode toward Lorna with a wide grin. "See? This is what happens when you neglect your studies," he said, still smiling. "I caught you with a simple Immobilization Technique. It’s just a Tier One spell, and you’re about to advance to Tier Two. You really shouldn’t be getting caught by such a low-level spell."
Unable to speak, Lorna could only shoot pleading looks at Isaac, like a pitiful kitten.
But Isaac was completely unmoved. In his eyes, Lorna’s talent was exceptional, and the path of a Combat Mage would only squander it. It was fine as a hobby, but treating it as her main focus was putting the cart before the horse. It would only plant the seeds of disaster in her future!
This wasn’t Isaac being an alarmist; the life of a Witch was genuinely that perilous. The more potential a Witch possessed, the greater the danger she was in!
True, with the Witch Country in existence, most factions wouldn’t dare to go too far against Witches. But the world is a vast place, and the Witch Country can’t intimidate everyone.
Take the Mad Witches, for example. They didn’t even fear the Outer Gods, so why would they be afraid of the little Witch Country?
To a Mad Witch, Witches were a valuable, high-yield resource—especially those with great potential. After all, stealing a Witch’s power was far more convenient than trying to steal from an Outer God!
Philo once tried to steal Angel’s magic, but she gravely underestimated the power of the [Original Scripture]. Furthermore, her arrogance led her to provoke Isaac, and in the end, she lost everything.
That was why Lorna had to become stronger. In a world where great power rests with the individual, personal strength is the one Eternal Truth!
"It’s no use begging me. I’ve already finished the perfect Privilege Magic for you. It’s called *Lorna’s Study Time*. Pretty thoughtful of me, huh?" Isaac said with a faint smile, looking at Lorna’s horrified expression.
"Alright, enough chit-chat. I’ve already arranged your learning tasks. Once you’re inside, you’ll have three of them. The first two are from me: the *Complete Guide to Basic Magical Potions* and *A Comparison of New and Old Alchemy*. I don’t expect you to master Alchemy, but you should at least learn to correctly identify Magic Potions and Magic Items."
"As for the third task, I’ve put a bookshelf inside filled with Magic Books I’ve read. You just have to pick one. And a friendly reminder," Isaac added, a wicked grin spreading across his face, "if you don’t finish all three, there’s a little ’surprise’ waiting for you."
Lorna: "..."
"Yup, no need to thank me! We’re all buddies here!" Isaac thumped his chest, laughing in the face of Lorna’s murderous glare. He then flicked his index finger toward her. "Off you go!"
Instantly, a purple Magic Array unfurled at Lorna’s feet. Violet light surged forth, engulfing her before teleporting her to an Alternate Space.
"Privilege Magic and Privilege!" Angel, who happened to be passing by, saw the whole thing, her eyes widening in shock.
Unlike the magically ’illiterate’ Lorna, Angel deeply understood the importance of knowledge. Even though she was also a Witch—and a far more powerful Origin Witch at that—she had seized every opportunity to learn Magic Knowledge back when she was with Philo.
She hadn’t slacked off after arriving in the Witch Country; if anything, she had become even more diligent in her studies. That was why she understood the true significance of what Isaac had just done.
Privilege Magic wasn’t exclusive to High-level Mages, but it wasn’t something an ordinary Grand Wizard could master, either—the learning curve was incredibly steep. As for ’Privilege’ itself, that was even more difficult. She had certainly never heard of a Wizard mastering the ’Privilege’ Casting Technique at Tier Two.
Furthermore, most Privilege Magic was kept secret because it could help a Wizard grasp an Authority. And the ultimate goal of an Authority was to achieve Dominion. Unlike Authorities, which multiple people could hold without issue, Dominion was a finite resource. If you claimed a larger share, that meant less for everyone else.
Therefore, even in the modern Wizarding World, which was so keen on sharing knowledge, almost no Privilege Magic was publicly taught. Most practitioners had to research it on their own—a step that stumped ninety-nine percent of all Grand Wizards.
The only exception was the Teaching Country. Their Privilege Magic was a gift from their Deities, and in their hands, it could never be used to grasp an Authority.
So, for someone to create a Privilege Magic and master the ’Privilege’ technique at Tier Two—and right after advancing, no less—was an absolutely heaven-defying feat!
At that moment, Angel felt another wave of relief that she hadn’t let the pride of possessing a Magic Scripture lead her to stand against Isaac. The man’s talent was scarcely inferior to the Magic Scripture itself!
Given enough time, his achievements might even surpass those of a Magic Scripture!
Of course, this was all predicated on one thing: Isaac not getting himself killed by an Outer God.
’Right, Mad Witches are all insane,’ she thought. ’It’s best to keep my distance. As long as I don’t make an enemy of him, that’s good enough.’
With that thought, Angel averted her gaze and walked away.
Isaac glanced at Angel’s retreating figure but said nothing. He instructed the Silver Knight to continue training, then turned and headed back to his study to research more Privilege Magic.
As for the ’Privilege’ Casting Technique...
There wasn’t much room for improvement. Over the past few days, he hadn’t just been researching Privilege Magic; he had also found time to practice the ’Privilege’ Casting Technique itself. Unfortunately...
...the results were minimal.
As of now, he could ’pre-store’ three Privilege Magics and ’pre-cast’ four more, for a total of seven. That might not be enough in a real fight.
But there was nothing to be done about it; his Level was the bottleneck. He was, after all, only a Tier Two Grand Wizard. Privilege Magic—and by extension, the ’Privilege’ Casting Technique—was typically the domain of High-level Mages.
So for now, this was his limit.
Still, it wasn’t too bad. Seven Privilege Magics were enough for him at his current stage.
Besides, in a real fight, no one wants to fight an opponent from a higher tier. As long as he didn’t get locked in a grueling battle with a Tier Three foe, seven Privilege Magics were more than enough to guarantee his escape!
Or to stall until reinforcements arrived... if there were any reinforcements to begin with.
In any case, his current goal was to finish researching his set of Privilege Magics. Fortunately, the Itra Kingdom had entered a relatively peaceful phase. Philo was still busy with the continuous production of Demonic Puppets. The Activated Demonic Puppets were slowly replacing the original garrisons in their territories, but this was a lengthy process. During this time, neither Philo nor Remington would be pushing for outward expansion.
Meanwhile, the Great Sword Ghost Legion, led by Smith, was starting to face some resistance. According to Smith—who had returned to renew the Enchantments on his Great Sword Ghosts—the Itra Royal Family seemed to be involved. As a result, while the legion was still on campaign, it had entered a more dormant period with less frequent operations.
The other factions were currently taking a wait-and-see approach toward Isaac’s group after their previous displays of power. After all, nobody wanted to be the next one knocked out of the game.
Therefore, Isaac currently had enough time to complete his Privilege Magic combat system.
Back in his study, Isaac pulled several books on Thunder Shaping Magic from a shelf. His next project was to research a Privilege Magic for movement—his current biggest weakness. The Phase Space he’d previously acquired was excellent for long-distance travel, but its slow activation speed made it far from ideal for short-range repositioning.
And as for this Privilege Magic, Isaac had extremely high hopes for it!
Because the Authority it would imitate was—[Electromagnetic Force]!
