Chapter 185: Chapter 149: Witch? Little Cook

Back in the castle’s council hall, Isaac saw Lorna’s uneasy demeanor and couldn’t help but smile. "Don’t be nervous. You haven’t done anything wrong. But don’t waste your energy on them. I don’t plan on keeping them in my territory permanently; I’ll be sending them out eventually. So you don’t need to worry about their discipline."

At his words, Lorna breathed a sigh of relief. She hesitated a moment before asking cautiously, "Then why did you buy them?"

"Hmm... how should I put this? Have you heard of Secret Mages?"

"I have. They’re Casters who use the power of a Demon God." The mention of Secret Mages made Lorna frown. She asked with concern, "You’re going to turn them into Secret Mages? Isn’t that too risky? That’s Demon God Power!"

"Relax, there’s no danger. Let’s not talk about that for now. Tell me about your Magic instead. I haven’t had a chance to learn about it yet." Isaac waved his hand, changing the subject.

’It wasn’t that the existence of the Flesh Dimension was a secret he needed to hide, but it was a real pain to explain.’

Though Lorna was still worried when she heard Isaac’s words, there was nothing she could do since he had already made up his mind. So, she sat down cautiously to one side and began to explain her Magic.

As Lorna explained, Isaac gradually began to understand her Magic.

Lorna’s Magic was indeed related to Dragons. It was called Son of the Dragon. Besides allowing the Caster to transform into a Dragon and freely use the Magic of a Giant Dragon, its most important aspect was that it was a form of Concept Magic!

In the eyes of all Giant Dragons, Lorna, who possessed this Magic, was their child!

Yes, *all* of them!

No matter what kind of Giant Dragon—even a Sub-Dragon with just a trace of Dragon Blood—they would all see her as their own child upon meeting her!

Concept Magic!

Isaac was dumbfounded. ’What kind of ridiculously overpowered Magic is this?’

However, this Concept wasn’t quite as powerful as Isaac imagined, because Giant Dragons...

...don’t really have a strong sense of family. They raise their young for a few years at most, then leave them to fend for themselves.

The same was true for Lorna. After being abandoned by her birth parents, she was found by a Giant Dragon, which raised her until she was about seven or eight years old before she left to wander on her own.

Of course, the part about her parents was just Isaac’s speculation. From Lorna’s point of view, she had been raised by a Giant Dragon and had no idea who her birth parents were or why she had started wandering.

As for why she’d had such a miserable life...

Lorna didn’t say, as she herself was also very confused about it.

Isaac, however, could venture a guess. It was likely her Dragon Mother’s influence that made her instinctively reject her own Magic.

This sort of thing wasn’t uncommon among Witches nowadays. Restraint was a crucial part of a Witch’s training; otherwise, they would eventually become completely lost in their Magic Power and turn into lawless lunatics.

’It’s just...’

’...the restraint seems a bit extreme...’

"Huh? I can use my Magic freely now?" And just as he’d thought, at his reminder, Lorna pointed to herself with a completely bewildered expression.

"You should be able to. You turned sixteen this year, right?"

"I’m already seventeen! My Dragon Mother told me."

"Mm, then there shouldn’t be any problem. But, I am curious—can you summon Dragons?" Isaac asked.

’From what he could tell, only one half of Lorna’s Son of the Dragon was applicable in combat. The other half, the conceptual ability, didn’t seem particularly potent.’

’If it could be used for Summoning Dragons, that would be incredible!’

"Um... I don’t know. I don’t think so?" Lorna said, shaking her head after a moment of thought.

’If I could have summoned my Dragon Mother, I wouldn’t have been captured by Remi and become a slave in the first place.’

"Is that so?" Isaac nodded. "Well, I think we can try to develop it in that direction. You should be close to advancing to Tier Two, right? There should be new changes after that."

"Yes, yes! The moment anything changes, I’ll tell you right away!" Lorna nodded eagerly.

’If Isaac doesn’t need that many extra hands, then my only value here is as a subject for his experiments and Observation. I have to actively fulfill that duty!’

"So, Young Master Isaac, when will you start studying me?" Lorna asked, her face full of anticipation.

"..." Isaac was speechless. ’How can this girl be so naive?’ "There’s no rush. Studying your Magic requires specialized equipment. We’ll talk about it after the Mage Tower is built."

He paused for a moment. Seeing the slightly disappointed pout on Lorna’s face, Isaac decisively changed the subject. "The Mage Tower will be under construction soon. Do you have any specific needs for your laboratory?"

"Needs? I... don’t have any. And Magic research... Can I really do that? Wouldn’t giving me a laboratory be a waste?"

"You’re a Caster, so of course you can conduct Magic research. You just don’t know what to focus on yet. How about this: for now, we’ll build your lab to the standards of a practice room. Use it to practice your Magic. As you use your abilities more, you might figure out what you want to research next."

"Okay, I’ll follow all of Young Master Isaac’s arrangements!"

"Tch... Just call me Isaac," he winced. Lorna’s voice was sweet, but for some reason, it sent a tremor of unease through him. Part of it was due to the Witch Country behind her, and the other part was because of her Dragon Mother.

’Her Dragon Mother might not seem to care whether she lives or dies right now, but what if that wasn’t the case?’

’What if that Dragon just happened to be busy, and that’s the only reason Remi managed to capture Lorna?’

’If she showed up and heard Lorna calling him ’Master’ or ’Young Master,’ wouldn’t he be totally screwed?’
