Chapter 179: Chapter 146: Dragon Witch Lorna
"Just one condition. You’re forbidden from capturing Witches as slaves from now on."
Telling a Slave Trader not to capture slaves sounded absurd, but it was a necessary condition if he was going to sell the Magic Potion through Remi. Otherwise, the consequences would eventually find their way to him!
Elves, after all, were a different matter. Though powerful, they were not unreasonable. They wouldn’t lash out at him just for cooperating with a Slave Trader; it wasn’t worth the trouble for them.
Ultimately, only the wealthy would—and could—buy Elf slaves. Therefore, the people most deeply entangled with these Slave Traders were the rich. Lashing out indiscriminately could easily bring even greater trouble upon themselves.
But the Witch Country was different. They were a bunch of genuine lunatics!
’The truly unhinged kind. When they went berserk, they couldn’t care less about the consequences. So if Remi didn’t agree to his demand, Isaac would be better off just buying her outright with cash.’
’But if Remi refused to sell, that was fine too. His curiosity about the Witch hadn’t yet overcome his instinct for survival.’
Fortunately, Remi didn’t refuse. Witch slaves weren’t easy to capture. In all his years, he had only managed to catch this single one. And even after catching her, she wasn’t easy to sell.
In fact, Isaac wasn’t the first person to know about this Witch slave. He was simply the only one, at present, who actually dared to express any intention of buying her.
Remi hadn’t planned on trying to capture another Witch anyway.
And so, Isaac and Remi simply signed a contract. Isaac bought over forty Ordinary slaves and one Witch, and also placed an order for three thousand more Ordinary slaves to be delivered over the next six months.
In total, the deal cost Isaac over three thousand Gold Coins and the one-year sales rights for his Dragon Transformation Secret Medicine. The majority of the cash outlay was the deposit for the three thousand slaves.
This was also because the current Dragon Transformation Secret Medicine was likely to be optimized further in the near future, and he didn’t have any finished Magic Potions on hand. Otherwise, he would have insisted on making a profit!
Thus, a transaction satisfactory to both parties was complete. Leaving three carriages behind, the Slave Trader Remi departed. They probably wouldn’t meet again for another six months.
Watching the back of Remi’s convoy gradually disappear from sight, Isaac turned and instructed Smith, "Find a few large rooms to house these Ordinary slaves. Just make sure they don’t starve. By the way, do we have any food for them?"
Smith shook his head and said, "The castle is only stocked with some simple bread. But for forty-some people, I can buy enough for them within a day."
Since the cooks had been dismissed, everyone had been living on takeout. As a result, the vast castle didn’t have a single grain of food in reserve, only some emergency bread that was replaced every two or three days.
Smith had prepared this for Isaac, just in case the food delivery was suddenly canceled or delayed. This way, if Isaac got hungry, he would have something to tide him over.
Fortunately, their castle was in the heartland of Solomon’s Domain, not far from the nearest town. Besides, the castle was full of Extraordinary... beings, so it was convenient to buy anything they needed.
"Alright, I’ll leave the food situation to you. Buy extra. We have three thousand more slaves coming, and they will all be staying in the domain for a while."
"Yes, Young Master."
"As for this Witch... Liu Li, prepare a separate room for her. Then go to Lake Town and bring her back something to eat."
"Yes, Master."
After giving his orders to the two of them, Isaac returned to his laboratory.
「The next day, the Witch awoke.」
"Hsss..."
In a room that looked like a noble girl’s private chamber, Lorna sat up on the soft bed. Her small, fair hand went to her still-throbbing head. As she looked at the dreamlike scene before her, a trace of confusion inevitably clouded her eyes.
’Wasn’t I... captured by the Slave Trader?’
’Where am I?’
’Don’t tell me I’ve been sold?!’
Lorna’s expression changed. She hurriedly threw off the covers and looked down at herself. Upon seeing that her rough linen clothes had been replaced with a silk nightgown, a visible trace of panic—and a chilling killing intent—flashed across her face!
"Whoa, whoa, hold on. Don’t jump to conclusions. I wasn’t the one who changed your clothes. My Servant Demon did. See? The one right behind me." Standing beside the soft bed, Isaac spoke up quickly to prevent the situation from spiraling, pointing to Liu Li behind him.
Isaac’s sudden voice startled Lorna. She clutched the blanket to herself, scooting sharply to the side. Then she held out her small, fair hand, and with a FWOOSH, a golden Dragon Flame ignited.
However, before she could hurl the Dragon Flame at Isaac, an unseen hand suddenly seemed to grip her wrist, causing the Magic Power she had gathered to completely dissipate.
Naturally, the Dragon Flame went out with it.
Having wandered for many years, she was ultimately captured by a Slave Trader. But that didn’t mean Lorna was weak. In fact, thanks to a Witch’s decent aptitude, ordinary Tier Two individuals were no match for them. The sole reason she was caught was that Remi was incredibly strong.
After all, he hadn’t been a Slave Trader for all those years for nothing.
But Lorna didn’t continue to struggle. For one, she now recognized the disparity in their power. If he could silently touch her right hand, he could just as silently touch her neck. Killing her would be as easy as flipping his palm.
For another, she guessed that this man... didn’t seem to have any ill intent toward her?
The Dragon Flame just now had been nothing more than a reflexive reaction. After all, she had been abandoned by her parents at birth and had been wandering ever since. Without a bit of vigilance, she would never have survived this long.
