Chapter 300: Chapter 142: Explosion! (Part 2)

"Adagua!"

Two heads that looked identical to Olivia’s opened their massive jaws behind her.

SPLAT! SPLAT!

The sound was like two watermelons bursting open.

"Ahhh—"

A searing pain, like her very origin was being torn apart, shot through Olivia, and she screamed in agony.

’My origin sub-bodies... they’re gone?’

"Shadow? Intelligence Officer?" A frigid voice sounded in her ear.

"You, how could you—" Olivia clutched her head, her face a mask of terror and pain. She spun around, and her eyes flew wide when she saw the person behind her.

Wei’en had his back to them. His eight eyes were fixed on Shawa, who was restrained on his bed. Behind him, several tentacles coiled around Olivia and Dark Dragon, and countless black pupils stared them down.

"Shadow, or Intelligence Officer?"

Dark Dragon stared at the tentacles in terror, swallowed hard, and said bitterly, "Sh-Shadow..."

’It’s over. I’m dead for sure.’

"You?!" Olivia looked at him weakly. Only then did she notice his appearance, and her heart jolted.

’A Mutated Mage, and one with four origin sub-bodies!’

’Just as I thought—’

CLICK!

Wei’en removed the shackles from Shawa. He looked at her chest, which had just been cut open, at her left arm, which was nothing but withered bone, and at her eye, which had been modified into a mechanical one. A tentacle behind him suddenly yanked Dark Dragon over.

"Heal your injuries first."

Shawa’s one remaining good eye, its pale pupil fixed on Wei’en, glanced at the Shadow, Dark Dragon, now right in front of her. Without hesitation, she lunged.

"Please, I was wrong..."

"Why is it that you only admit your mistakes after you’ve been hurt? You had so many chances before."

Wei’en gave her a calm glance and turned to Olivia. The tentacles wrapped around Dark Dragon crisscrossed like sharp blades, making it easier for Shawa to heal.

"You, Wei’en Loft, you’re an Intelligence Officer for the Ghost Soul School,"

Olivia shuddered when she saw Dark Dragon’s fate. Forcing herself to endure the tearing pain in her origin, she managed a smile. "I’m the Liaison Officer for the Ghost Soul School’s Intelligence Department in Shetland. I’m your superior, remember?"

"Oh, a Liaison Officer?" Wei’en’s lips curled up. "It’s a real... pleasure to meet you!"

"I-I’m very happy too, I..."

Olivia’s smile froze. She stared blankly down at the tentacle at her chest and the dozens of menacing black pupils right before her eyes. Her heart was completely filled with the fear of death.

"No, don’t, no..."

"Since it’s you, I’ve suddenly had a better idea."

Wei’en slowly withdrew the tentacle, pulling out a still-beating heart with it, and tossed it to Miss Zombie behind him.

"You... how dare you..."

"I hope you remember the Intelligence Officers who died helpless and despairing because you withheld their fees."

"That’s not—" Olivia sputtered, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, her face a picture of desperate struggle. "It wasn’t me..."

A bolt of black lightning pierced her head, silencing her for good.

"Not you? Then it was your incompetence... I hope that when you reach the Undead World, you’ll remember this feeling of desperate, hopeless struggle."

Having done this, Wei’en looked out the window at the Cathedral. Ales was there, roaring madly, black lightning arcing from his body to connect with Tina, drawing streams of calamitous malice from her.

’Has Ales been resurrected?’

’And he’s going after Tina, of all people—’

"Shawa, I’m sending you somewhere safe first."

Miss Zombie wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. Her two different-colored eyes stared at his back. "Sorry..."

Wei’en glanced at her but said nothing. He took out the Golden Key and brought her and the Liaison Officer’s corpse into the Golden Theater.

Before the stunned Clelia could even register what was happening, he vanished from the theater again, leaving only Miss Zombie and her to stare at each other.

"Ahem, he must be in a hurry?"

"Mm."

Miss Zombie surveyed her surroundings. When she saw some broken tools, she unsteadily got up, walked over, and started tidying up.

Clelia: "..."

’Rushing off in such a panic, just to save a zombie?’

’Hmph, men!’

...

...

At that moment, everyone in the city-state was captivated by the scene above the Cathedral.

The nobles and the Council were stunned by Ales’s appearance. The Secret Investigation Department couldn’t believe Ales would harm Tina. Meanwhile, the Dawn and Storm factions watched them in silence.

This was especially true for the Dawn Saints who knew many of Caster’s internal secrets. A little girl of unknown origin was one thing, but if it was Ales, who held a grudge against them...

"Your Eminence Kali, I suggest we evacuate Caster immediately!" the commander of the Holy Order Legion urged anxiously.

They didn’t know what had happened inside the black sphere, but the situation was critical. If they remained in the city any longer, they would likely all die here.

Kali heard the voice outside. Clutching her wounds in the darkness, she remained alert to any movement, a bitter feeling in her heart. ’I want to leave too, but that terrifying clown is still here...’

But what she didn’t know was that the clown had already stopped. He was standing there, staring blankly at the sky above the distant Cathedral... at Tina...

Elsewhere, on the high wall in the southern part of the city-state, Marco, Lisi, and the others were also staring blankly at the scene.

"It’s Director Ales..."

"Why," Lisi’s face was filled with confusion as she watched Ales’s arm pierce Tina’s chest, "why would he attack Tina..."

Yegor gazed at the scene, blowing out a ring of smoke.

"Director..." Dorff’s expression was complicated. He should have been happy about Ales’s resurrection, but seeing him in this frenzied state made it impossible to feel any joy.
