Chapter 269: Chapter 133: Hee Hee Hee Ha Ha...
’Did something unexpected happen, or was Clelia’s intelligence wrong?’
"The forbidden object... And you are?"
"Nicole Vazquez!"
The woman held her head high, her voice booming as she announced her name. Perhaps she had been waiting for this day for too long, as her tone carried a hint of excitement.
’So that’s Nicole?’
Wei’en looked at the woman in the lead, and her identity matched the information on his panel.
He remembered that just this morning, this woman had been hiding in the Morris Clinic as Yuan’s guest.
’Killing intent... No wonder.’
When he killed Collins and Elno earlier, this woman was probably in the Basil District.

’Great, I’ve been discovered.’
Wei’en noted the prompts from the panel in his mind. If a fight really broke out, he would have to be careful.
As he was thinking, Nifa gave a slight nod. "I have seen you in the future, heir to the Vasquez Clan."
"Return what belongs to my clan, and war can be avoided!"
Nicole paid no mind to Nifa’s talk of the future. She only wanted to lead her clansmen and reclaim their family’s heirloom. This was her duty as the heir!
That was why she used the word "war."
"We can’t give it to them!"
"This belongs to our Secret Investigation Department, we can’t..."
Hearing her words, the Investigators from the Secret Investigation Department were filled with righteous indignation.
"The figurehead..." Nifa waved her hand for silence and looked down at the statue in her hands. "I cannot give it to you."
Nicole seemed to have expected this outcome. "I’ve given you a choice. If you won’t agree, then we have no choice but to fight."
"I’m sorry. This was entrusted to me by an old friend." Nifa took a deep breath and nodded to Balats behind her. "Get ready. Watch out for their Blood of Greed and Corruption."
"Understood!"
Balats and the other high-ranking members of the Secret Investigation Department nodded, turning to lead their pre-assigned teams to guard the perimeter of the department headquarters.
And standing at the very front were the contaminated individuals who had just been released from the Sealed Area.
After all this time, the signs of mutation on their bodies had grown more severe. Some who had already lost their minds were even struck down by their own comrades.
"Hahaha, to die like this is better than turning into a monster and being slaughtered by you lot."
"Minister Albert, I’ll go on ahead. We’ll meet again..."
"Marco, you have to buy me a drink after the battle." Two new, blood-red eyes had appeared on Roger’s face. He chuckled as he looked at the Vasquez People.
"No problem," Marco said, shaking his dizzy head. He activated his Blood of Chaos, his voice buzzing, "I’ll bring my family’s entire winery over!"
"Here I go!"
Roger’s gaze swept over Lisi, and a faint smile appeared on his face. He didn’t say anything, though. He just nodded and, without looking back, went to stand at the front of the line with the other contaminated individuals.
"Lisi, you’re so heartless..."
Marco muttered resentfully before waving his Lamp Staff, casting Gentle Spirit Wind on several people.
Lisi didn’t reply to him. She took a deep breath and gave her orders, "Wei’en, you and Tina stay in the rear. Use that gun of yours and aim for the Extraordinaries with the Blood of Greed and Corruption."
"Okay." Wei’en hadn’t wanted to be on the front lines anyway, so he took Tina and stepped back.
The imposter Old Jack, who was standing nearby, also silently took a few steps back. Meeting Lisi’s confused gaze, he flashed a grin, revealing two rows of pearly white teeth. "I’d like to live a few more years..."
"Then please help me look after them."
This time, Lisi didn’t object. She nodded and went to stand with Marco, her eyes fixed on the Vasquez People across from them.
Wei’en: "..."
He didn’t know what to do about Black Jack right now. He could only choose to keep his mouth shut, worried that Black Jack might just crush him with a single slap...
Seeing this on the other side, Nicole wasted no more words and raised the Golden Scepter high.
"Warriors of Vasquez, kill!"
"Kill!"
The Vasquez People had also been waiting impatiently. At her command, they charged toward the Secret Investigation Department.
SWISH, SWISH...
They threw their long spears like javelins, many of which shimmered with the multicolored light of Extraordinary Power.
"Intercept!"
Balats controlled the Array again, activating its attack runes. Blades of light rose from the shield and shot toward the spears, with the clear intent of also taking out some of the Vasquez People.
War isn’t a collection of individual duels. Especially when the enemy has Extraordinaries, the buffs they provide to their entire group cannot be countered by individual strength alone.
Unless an individual’s power was beyond imagination—at least at the level of a Third-Rank Calamity—they wouldn’t be able to influence the course of a war.
Therefore, Nifa didn’t rush her people from the Secret Investigation Department forward. Instead, she planned to use the Rune Array and some Extraordinary abilities to first blunt the Vasquez People’s initial assault.
"Property Management Department, prepare!"
This was where the strength of the Property Management Department showed itself.
Each member of the department pulled out a mechanical weapon, most of which were turret-like devices. Working in pairs, they began to load the shells.
The Sealers were already in position. Some, on the verge of complete mutation, had even stepped outside the light shield, ready to charge the Vasquez People at a moment’s notice.
In moments, the Vasquez People reached the Secret Investigation Department’s position.
"Kill!"
"Fire!"
"Zaka, Rice, Losano!" (Storm!)
The members of the Secret Investigation Department began to unleash their various Extraordinary Powers, clashing with the advancing Vasquez People.
Wei’en had also taken out his sniper rifle. Hiding in a corner, he followed Lisi’s orders, firing a shot whenever he saw someone like Collins who possessed the Blood of Greed and Corruption Extraordinary Bloodline.

’Fuck.’
For every person he killed, Wei’en’s Spiritual Power increased by 1 point. At this rate, he would soon meet the requirements to advance to an Official Mage.
Beside him, Old Jack had also taken out a flintlock, firing off a shot every now and then.
"HEE HEE HEE HA HA..."
Just as the battle began, a strange laugh echoed throughout the Secret Investigation Department, and a dark, terrifying aura enveloped everyone.
Wei’en quickly turned to look at Tina, only to see that the clown doll had somehow left her hands. Its button eyes were spinning rapidly as it opened its fuzzy mouth to let out that shrill laugh.
’Wait, has the clown lost control?!’
