Chapter 250: Chapter 127: Die! Die for Me—
He had witnessed the power of those words firsthand.
He remembered how the clown wasn’t even truly out of control then—just in a daze—and had effortlessly diced that Strangler into pieces. If he really lost control...
"Yes. That’s why if I go completely berserk and lose control, I need you to bring me back!"
"How do I help you?" Wei’en was stunned. ’Is there really a way to reverse the clown’s loss of control?’
"It’s simple. You just need to say my name." The clown turned its head stiffly and said, enunciating each word, "Arnold Lilith Leonard. That is my name!"
"Arnold Lilith Leonard..."
The name was pronounced in the Gonzalez tongue, not the current Oldes common language. Fortunately, Wei’en was familiar with the pronunciation.
But the name wasn’t the main point.
He was now increasingly convinced that the clown—or rather, Mr. Leonard—was one of the two princes of the Turing Empire.
’Is he the elder one, blessed by the Sun Church, or the younger one, who received the blessing of the Night Church?’
"That’s right," the clown doll’s face twisted into a ferocious snarl. "This time, no matter who it is, I will make them pay."
"I absolutely agree with you."
Compared to those who lurked in dark corners hatching conspiracies, the clown seemed far more likable in Wei’en’s eyes.
"But I must also warn you: don’t say that name lightly. Otherwise, if you run into any danger, don’t blame me."
A chill ran down Wei’en’s spine. He gave a forced laugh. "Don’t worry, my lips are sealed."
’I’m not about to go blabbing about this. A method to stop a forbidden object from losing control... very few people could possibly know about something like that.’
’If other people knew, the Secret Investigation Department wouldn’t have met such a tragic end seventeen years ago.’
"You’d better... They’re here!"
"Wha—"
Wei’en looked down, and the words caught in his throat.
Beside the altar below, a black fissure hundreds of meters long slowly materialized. Immediately after, several enormous fingers squeezed out from the crack.
CRACK, CRACKLE...
With a series of crisp cracks, that entire section of space was torn open.
A violent gale swept past, carrying with it a wave of decaying power. The trees in the forest instantly withered, and even the rain was held back, unable to fall upon this part of the woods.
The people around the altar had long since stopped their chanting. They were prostrated on the ground, their heads buried beneath their hands, piously welcoming the great one’s arrival.
That was...
Wei’en’s eyes widened as he stared at the world from which the giant, black-scaled hand emerged.
Peak after peak, hundreds of them, were piled high with ghastly white bones.
The sky there was blood-red, like a flowing river of blood. From time to time, ferocious monsters would emerge from the crimson expanse and spit out a few bones.
He also saw tens, even hundreds, of Sutle Dogs roaming around the owner of the giant hand, dragging the massive corpses of other monsters to its side.
And farther in the distance was another hellish scene—black mountains, constantly erupting volcanoes, and countless other monsters as enormous as the owner of the giant hand, all entrenched there.
[You have glimpsed the Subtle Abyss World. Your Origin is over 20 and your Spirit Level is over 200. You have successfully resisted cognitive collapse. Evaluation: A very pretty world, isn’t it? Special Reward: Survival Points +10, Spirit Level +3, Resilience Level +3.]
[You have glimpsed the Subtle Demon, but your view was obscured by the Abyssal Depths, a place of corpse mountains and seas of blood. Evaluation: Only there can its beauty be truly appreciated! Special Reward: Survival Points +6, Spirit Level +2, Resilience Level +2.]
’A pretty world...’
As always, the panel’s evaluations were full of sick humor.
"That place is the Abyssal Depths, and this Subtle Demon is just a tiny existence within it."
The clown doll said flatly, "But what I want to tell you is, compared to that terrifying Abyss World, this world is far more horrifying."
Wei’en looked at him, confused. "Are you talking about the True World?"
"The True World?" The clown shook its head and continued with a hint of disappointment, "In the future, you’ll understand what I’m talking about."
’The future... Don’t make me wait for the future!’
’If I didn’t know I couldn’t beat him, I’d absolutely be strangling him by the neck right now and making him spit it all out.’
"Delicious, delicious... Mmph."
As the two were talking, the Subtle Demon extended its entire palm, grabbed the altar, and pulled it back, dumping everything on it into its mouth and chewing.
Only then did Wei’en get a clear look at it.
Its entire head was covered in dozens of mouths, all full of sharp teeth. In the middle of all these mouths, a single, vertical-pupiled eye was almost lost among the fangs, staring coldly at the world outside.
’Ugly... That was probably the only word that could describe its appearance.’
"I am satisfied. Speak, servant of the Abyssal Depths. What do you desire?"
"Great Subtle Demon Commander,"
The figure suspected to be Bolsen prostrated himself just like the others. "I wish only to offer up a city state as a continuation of the Abyssal Depths."
After hearing his voice, Wei’en was certain. It was undoubtedly Bolsen!
’It seems Director Ales killed someone else last time...’
"A city state? Like last time?"
The Subtle Demon’s voice was like a landslide. "Then, as you wish! Go, my little hounds! Find all the delicacies and prepare for My arrival."
As its voice fell, dozens of Sutle Dogs poured out of the fissure.
’Fuck, so many?’
Seeing all these Sutle Dogs, a chill shot through Wei’en’s heart. ’A single one has Minister-level strength. With dozens of them, wouldn’t they swallow the entire Caster City State whole?’
