Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Luxurious Potion Package
’A Haoyu Stone Ball can be used to make a Spatial Bag, but I’d need at least twelve to create a Magic Plant Space. This thing is a mutated product found in stone, and there’s no discernible pattern to finding them.’
Andre returned to the Wizard Inheritance Hall, carrying his haul from the market.
The moment he stepped through the door, a group of people led by Lian hurried to block his path.
"What is it?" Andre asked, looking at Lian. ’This guy failed to scam me last time. What sort of crooked scheme is he planning now?’
A smile spread across Lian’s face when he saw Andre return.
"I want you to brew a few Potions for me!"
Lian didn’t waste any time with small talk. He pulled a folded piece of paper from inside his robes and handed it to Andre. Andre took the Curse Paper and looked at the text on it.
"Void Potion, Mind Boiling Potion, Wisdom Light Potion... These are all Potions used when breaking through to become an Official Wizard. Who needs such a lavish lineup for their advancement?"
After a quick glance, Andre looked at Lian and his group and asked.
The Curse Paper listed the names of eight different Potions.
Every single one was exceptionally precious. For an ordinary Wizard Apprentice breaking through to become an Official Wizard, being able to afford three of them meant they were already incredibly wealthy.
Yet the person who had sent Lian to find him wanted him to brew eight Potions in one go.
Combined, these eight Potions formed the most lavish "potion set" in the Wizard World for advancing to an Official Wizard.
Andre did a quick mental calculation. The brewing fee alone for these eight Potions would be equivalent to the price of the two Magic Staves he had sold previously.
’What puzzles me, though, is why someone willing to pay such a high price for these Potions doesn’t just go to one of the institute’s Alchemist professors?’
’Wouldn’t it be faster to have them do it? Besides, the chance of failure would be lower.’
Andre looked up, gazing quizzically at Lian and his group.
"Some of the materials are missing. So... we’ll need to purchase those from you."
Lian said to Andre with a smile, rubbing his hands together.
The moment Lian finished speaking, Andre threw the list right in his face.
"Go find another Alchemist. I can’t do it."
Andre waved his hand dismissively, signaling that it was impossible.
"But with all those Potions you were selling at the market, you should be able to brew these."
Lian picked up the list, baffled. He looked at Andre in astonishment and asked.
"Obviously! How am I supposed to brew them without the materials?"
Andre rolled his eyes, looking at Lian as if he were an idiot.
’If Lian and his group actually had the materials, of course I would’ve agreed,’ Andre thought. ’This is a huge deal. If I could brew these and get the Magic Stones, I’d be much more confident about acquiring a Magic Plant Space.’
’But the problem is they don’t have the materials. What am I supposed to do?’
’Am I supposed to go ask Radak and Farrete for them?’
’But this is just to earn Magic Stones. I can’t just go asking my teacher and senior brother for Magic Plants for a side job.’
’How could I even bring that up?’
’Besides, most of the ingredients for these Potions are simply too precious. It’s not even certain that Radak and Farrete would have them.’
’Under these circumstances, how am I supposed to brew the Potions? With thin air?’
"What I have here are Magic Plants for basic Potions! I don’t even have the High-Tier ingredients for these eight Potions myself! Where the hell am I supposed to get them for you?!"
Andre raised his right hand and jabbed his finger forcefully at the list. After a few sharp pokes, he was jabbing the list directly against Lian’s chest.
As Andre’s finger jabbed into Lian’s chest, Lian felt it was like a nail, boring relentlessly into his sternum.
After a few more jabs from Andre, Lian started to cough. He stared at Andre in shock, the metallic tang of blood filling his mouth. He was injured just from those few pokes.
Only when he saw Lian start to cough up blood did Andre retract his hand.
’This guy hiding behind Lian is really trying to take advantage of me.’
The main ingredient for each of these eight Potions was exceedingly rare and precious.
The main ingredient for the Void Potion alone was absurdly expensive and incredibly rare.
It was also the most valuable Potion in this lavish set.
This was because it required a Magic Plant with the Void Attribute. Most of these Magic Plants grew outside the world, in the Star Realm, where they were tempered by the chaotic Power of Space.
In other words, to harvest such a Void Magic Plant, one would have to travel beyond this world and search for it in the Star Realm.
However, the environment in the Star Realm was so hostile that even if a Magic Plant with the Void Attribute managed to sprout, it would soon be destroyed by the rampaging, chaotic Power of Space.
As a result, this type of Magic Plant ranked among the top three rarest of all Magic Plants.
To put it in perspective, a single stalk of a Magic Plant with the Void Attribute could be directly traded for an entire Magic Plant Space.
In fact, the person offering the Magic Plant Space would have to throw in something extra just to complete the trade for the Void Magic Plant.
And even then, whether the deal went through depended entirely on if the owner of the Void Magic Plant was willing to trade at all.
Although the Void Potion only required a minuscule amount, it was still a genuine Void Magic Plant.
’As far as I know, aside from the Dean, no one else in the entire institute could possibly possess such a rare treasure. Not even my own teacher, Krell, or Radak.’
’Possessing a treasure without the Ability to protect it is an invitation to disaster, no matter the world or time.’
To circumvent such strict requirements, an Alchemist once spent a hundred years in painstaking research to improve the Void Potion’s formula, lowering the requirements. Only because of this can the Void Potion still be brewed today.
Otherwise, with such demanding ingredients, the formula for the Void Potion would have been locked away long ago.
The modified formula for the Void Potion replaced the specific Void Magic Plant with an item that possessed spatial properties.
As it happened, Andre currently had two Vast Universe Stone Balls in his possession.
’But these two Vast Universe Stone Balls are for building my own Magic Plant Space. I’m obviously not going to use them to brew a Potion for someone else.’
Besides the fact that Vast Universe Stone Balls are extremely rare, once one is used to brew a Potion, the incomparably precious stone is rendered completely useless and cannot be used again.
In that case, anyone who wasn’t a complete idiot would keep a Vast Universe Stone Ball for themselves.
And that was just one of the eight Potions. Among the rest, the Mind Boiling Potion was just as troublesome to create as the Void Potion.
The main ingredient for this Potion was the ethereal and ephemeral Light of the Mind.
The best way to gather the Light of the Mind was to go into a large crowd and collect it from their dreams.
One had to absorb the Power of the Mind through dreams to give birth to a single wisp of the Light of the Mind.
According to the books, the fastest way to gather enough Light of the Mind to brew a single Mind Boiling Potion was to go to a city of ten thousand people and collect it from their dreams nonstop, every single day, for ten years. Only then would it be possible to gather a single wisp.
Furthermore, once gathered, it had to be used for brewing immediately. Otherwise, the Light of the Mind would dissipate, and one would have to start all over again.
