Chapter 1091: Chapter 269: Forced Melons Are Never Sweet (Part 2)

Seeing the Other Shore on the steps, along with the Knights behind her, the temporary Commander of the High-tier Knights smiled.

"Brothers, the Knight Commander is here, victory will surely belong to—!"

The passionate shout abruptly ceased. A massive silver sword descended from the sky, stirring up a cloud of dust beneath the circular stairs. The ground trembled violently, surrounding pillars and buildings collapsed in the aftershock, cracks appeared in the air, and the Teleportation Array below the circular stairs shattered completely due to the sudden sword.

A towering figure loomed within the rising dust.

The first thing that greeted the eyes of the Other Shore was a silver knight helmet covering an entire face, and beneath it, sharp eyes scrutinized her, seeming to penetrate her very soul.

Seeing this, the Knights following the Other Shore suddenly dropped to one knee. A few others soon knelt before that imposing figure.

In less than a minute, only the Other Shore was left standing before the majestic figure clad in silver armor.

As the prophecy revealed.

In the Seventh Epoch, when Doomsday arrives, their god— the Knight Lord returns to their side.

"Look at this Holy Hall, truly... sorrowful."

The voice from beneath the helmet carried deep disappointment. He raised his head, looking directly at the Other Shore standing above on the circular stairs, "Your corruption has seeped into your souls, there is no need for salvation."

"Knight Commander!"

Someone in the crowd quietly reminded the Other Shore.

As Knights of the Neseriel Sanctuary, how could they defy the will of the Knight Lord?

They should immediately lay down their weapons, kneel before their lord, explain the situation to dispel misunderstandings, even if the Knight Lord wishes to punish them, they would bear it all.

Even if it means... offering their souls!

The Other Shore locked eyes with the silver figure below the circular stairs. When she joined the Neseriel Sanctuary, she, like countless new Knights, dreamt of being noticed by the Knight Lord, proving she was a unique existence. She used to lie in bed, imagining the scene when she would meet the Knight Lord before falling asleep.

Perhaps it would be in ruins filled with a sacred aura, like the great Knights mentioned in the Holy Hall’s texts, where the Knight Lord personally bestowed the Holy Sword upon them; or on a battlefield, amidst endless carcasses, she would become the Empire’s blade, eliminating all enemies for the Empire’s glory.

Until she met Ethan in Ximu Town.

Other Shore realized that her duty wasn’t to uphold rigid doctrines and decrees, just like now, with Knights following her. She was keenly aware that Ave, Rowena, her friends, and the entire Empire needed her.

Since that day, she never dreamed of the Knight Lord again.

The Other Shore ignored the Knights’ advice, drew the Sword of Oath and Victory, lightly swung it, pointing the blade towards the silver figure beneath the circular stairs.

This was a duel between Knights.

For what she needed to protect, she would challenge their Divine Spirit here.

"Even without you, I will save them."

...

Meanwhile, black smoke engulfed the Imperial Capital.

Led by those with red eyes, the possessed Alchemists walked the streets, which had become their playground, though they needed to make the stage more lively.

Thus, they must bring in some important figures.

For example, Ave-Margaret— the Empire’s young Prime Minister.

The demons noticed when the end came, the people of the Imperial Capital were not broken by fear. Even the elderly women with bad legs and feet bravely raised farming tools against them.

Because they still held faith, believing the Royal Family and the Cabinet would come to save them.

They were proud Imperial People, how could they bow to a group of unknown demons?

"We should publicly execute their Prime Minister."

The unyielding will excited the demons further. They loved witnessing the process of watching people fall from defiance into despair, which was a feast to them. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"No, there’s a better way."

The red-eyed demon commanded, "Bring her to the central square; I want to transform her personally."

Not just despair, but an eternal shackle hung around the neck of every Imperial Person.

...............

"Is this the future you long for?"

The persistent light’s tone carried slight anger as it sensed changes happening in two worlds at the moment when energies intertwined.

No happiness, no hope whatsoever.

When demons descended, they brought only endless chaos.

Meanwhile, on the other side in the Holy City, to combat the tribes led by Zhuang Xiao, the red-eyed demon employed the Holy City Navy and pirates’ strength. Squadrons of Starships hovered like airborne fortresses over the First Special District, enough to destroy the entire surface with orbital weapons entering preheating phase.

"This is the happiness of the demons."

Sincaro said, "Don’t blame me, you and I aren’t essentially different, but perhaps this might become another reason to convince you. If your thoughts and calculations prevail afterwards, you can stop all this, and my people will heed your command."

He offered Messiah an undeniable reason.

If not willing for ideals and happiness, then for salvation, "Come, save the world, this is also the responsibility a Divine Spirit shoulders, do you really intend to retreat?"

The conversation between light and shadow was interrupted by the sound of a door being broken in.

The isolation Array melted into liquid under golden flames, when the young man reached the tower’s top, those tasked with guarding it, the Prince Demons, were dragged before Sincaro like rags by that golden figure.

The young man snapped his fingers, an unseen force grabbed the collar of the only red-eyed demon with consciousness, pulling her to his side.

"I told them I knew you, but they refused to let me in."

The unseen force pried open the red eyes’ lids, forcing her eyes to their limit, with every muscle suppressed under an invisible pressure, unable to move even a finger, leaving her fixed in a distorted posture, painfully close to popping her eyes out.

"Sincaro, we’re acquaintances, right?"

The young man asked.

"Ethan, I think our business in the bottomless abyss is over."

The shadow in the dark had to focus on Ethan, "You ruthlessly rejected me back then, though it almost broke my heart, life goes on, doesn’t it?"

He glanced at Messiah, "And now, I found something better, worthy of my lifetime’s trust, ’the Other Shore’, so dear, I’m sorry, I can’t return to you."

"See, we do know each other well."

As the force retracted, the red-eyed demon, utterly terrified, scrambled towards the tower’s entrance, which by Ethan’s generous grant of time spared her. Facing a will so strongly inclined towards survival, a life so hungrily yearning to live, how could he possibly bring down the killing blow?

The isolation Array was repaired once more, sealing away all disturbances.

"You should know, incessant entanglement breeds dislike, or perhaps... you came for more than me."

Sincaro let out a long sigh, "Messiah, you truly are fiery, enticing even Mr. Ethan with your allure, regrettably, it seems you’ll have no choice but to decide between two equally detestable options."

With piercing eyes, he paid no mind to the intruding Ethan, "Do you accept my invitation to achieve your desires together, or align with that unpredictable oddity birthed from the Node Space?"
