Chapter 87: Meeting his parents I
Chapter 7 - Meeting The Parent.
Rosie’s POV
Mia and I were having breakfast when Jude walked languidly to us, naked... I mean, half-naked, showing me or rather assaulting me with his bare torso. He plopped down beside me, taking the sliced apple I had cut in front of me for Mia, and throwing it into his mouth. As he chomped on it, the juice trailed on his lips, making them plumper, and I felt my breathing shudder.
I quickly whipped my head to my front, gripping the fork tighter. Not after catching the mirth in his eyes. He was enjoying teasing me, and making me bothered.
He stretched his hand to pick another one, and I was expecting it and used the fork in my hand to stab him lightly on his stretch hand.
“Ouch, wifey.” He grinned, rubbing his hand as if it hurt. “I’ve had a splendid night as well. Thank you for asking.” he said sarcastically.
I glared at him. It was like this guy had a screw removed from his head. A very shameless human being.
He chuckled lightly. “Always tough, wifey.”
After the episode at the store yesterday, I didn’t interact with him at all — I was shocked, and thank fuck, he actually didn’t tease me till we got home. He dropped us off at home before saying he had something to do and left. I didn’t even know when he was back last night, but it was none of my concern, though.
Mia, who had just finished her plate, got down from the seat and ran to him, hugging his leg.
This girl is a snitch. She is switching sides so fast.
“Thanks for the ice cream,” she piped up, and Jude picked her up effortlessly, placing her on his lap.
“Don’t mention it, princess. At least you are appreciative, unlike certain someone...” He aimed a pointed look at me while I rolled my eyes.
Mia leaned closer to his ear. “It had a bliss out yesterday,” she chirped happily, and he chuckled.
“Mia!” I snapped, my face instantly reddening in shock. I thought she had forgotten it, and Mia just cackled, sliding out of his lap and bolting down the hallway before I could catch her.
I whirled on him, pointing an accusing finger at him. “See what you’ve caused?”
Jude merely shrugged like he was innocent. “Not my fault you gave such a lame explanation.”
“I did not—”
“So, wifey," He stood up and stepped into my personal space, and my back automatically snapped straight against the back of my chair. He leaned down, caging me against the table with his hands planted on either side of my seat. “You didn’t even bother to check if your husband made it home safe last night,” he teased, his voice dropping into a low velvet that made me shiver
The man was seducing me because I could feel his breath trickling my left ear. It was intentional.
“Such a bad wife.” she added.
I opened my mouth to refute, but he cut me off.
“Shhh,” he mumbled, tilting his head to gently nuzzle his nose in my hair.
This pervert!
“So calming,” he murmured against my strands, before slowly trailing the tip of his nose down to the curve of my jaw. “Be prepared, wifey. My family is coming over today.”
Before my brain could even process the bomb he dropped, his presence vanished, taking along his overwhelming scent and teasing as I turned around only to see him walking casually back to his room, his hands shoved into his pockets.
This man!
I gritted my teeth, pressing my palms against my warm, reddened cheeks. How dare he? My chest was rising and falling as my ears were ringing from the beat of my heart.
He was toying with me.
Then I blinked, my brain just comprehending what he had just said.
His parents were coming.
I was meeting my in-laws, and I was least prepared.
Fuck my life.
.
The front doorbell chimed, and I stood in the foyer, breathing in and out in a desperate attempt to calm my nerves—I was over nervous. I wanted to fiddle with my fingers anxiously as Jude stepped up beside me, reaching down to slide his fingers through mine. He began tracing soothing, rhythmic circles against the back of my hand. I didn’t even attempt to pull away because I really needed it. No one was ever prepared for meeting in-laws.
“They’ll accept you and welcome you,” he said softly, his voice reassuring.
I wanted to scoff—so easy to say. That was the classic lie all men told right before their mother or father disapproved of or scorned the woman. I just nodded, not agreeing or disagreeing, swallowing the lump in my throat while using my free hand to nervously rub my arm.
“And if they don’t,” Jude added, his lips pulling into an unbothered grin, “I’ll kick them out. I don’t care about their acceptance as much as I accept you.”
My heart skipped a beat. I looked up at him, flustered.
“Have I pulled your heart?” he questioned.
I blinked at the direction of his question shocked me and nudged his side with my elbow . “Idiot,” I muttered under my breath.
His smile widened. “That’s my wifey.”
Jude swung the front door open; standing on the threshold was a woman in her late forties, accompanied by an older, imposing version of Jude in his early fifties. The woman’s hand was elegantly looped through the man’s arm, and the man was carrying a big gift basket.
His parents were stunningly elegant, polished, and effortlessly stylish. His mother had striking blonde hair swept up into a chic, loose bun with a few delicate strands framing her face. His father, on the other hand, wore a heavy frown. I instantly noticed that Jude had inherited his mother’s warm brown eyes, but the rest of his genetic makeup—his towering build, his dark hair, and his broad frame—clearly came from his father.
I gulped, then breathed in, putting on my best customer service smile. Years of experience taught me better.
“Good—”
