Chapter 1215: Chapter 1215: Thank You for Still Being Alive

He lay in the larger of the bedrooms.

When Scarlett Yates pushed the door open and entered, she immediately smelled a faint scent of medicine in the room.

The light was mounted in the center of the ceiling above the sickbed, and when it was turned on, the warm yellow glow flooded down from the roof, illuminating Matthew Saxon’s handsome yet pale face with stark clarity.

His complexion was truly very pale; even the warm light cast on his face failed to add much color, leaving him astonishingly devoid of blood.

Yet his face remained intact, with only a few small abrasions already scabbed over.

For someone who survived a plane crash into the sea and drifted for a long time, the scratches on his face were not severe at all.

Of the three people rescued by the search team, though their lives were spared, one had a broken leg, and the other two also sustained severe injuries, with big gashes on their faces. Even after recovery, their faces would bear scars.

Though not severe enough to disfigure, scars on the face could have some impact on their future lives.

Matthew Saxon’s situation seemed much better than theirs.

The scars on his face were shallow and wouldn’t leave a mark once healed, and he hadn’t lost any limbs; only one leg was in a cast.

The only thing that worried Scarlett Yates was his extremely poor complexion, completely devoid of color, as if he had been drained of blood.

Scarlett couldn’t help but think that it was no wonder the young nurse was infatuated; the face on the hospital bed, though pale and haggard, remained very handsome.

Scarlett stepped very lightly, fearing that any heavier movement would wake him from his dreams.

She slowly walked up to the bed, then slowly sat down, sitting there for a long, long time, watching him quietly.

Only at this moment, seeing him breathing evenly on the hospital bed with her own eyes, did the heart hanging anxiously in her chest slowly steady itself.

How wonderful, he was really alive.

In her incredibly bad day, this was the best surprise she could have hoped for.

Scarlett Yates had never looked at Matthew Saxon with such infatuation before, sitting motionless by the bed, observing him from his forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, all the way down, and after finishing, she looked back up from the bottom again.

Back and forth, over and over, she watched many times, and as she watched, a soft laugh escaped her lips.

She thought she laughed a little foolishly, a bit dazedly, but it didn’t matter; besides herself and Matthew Saxon, no one would see her like this.

Feeling happy, she laughed out loud, unwilling to suppress her emotions.

Heaven was still kind to her, making the wish she silently prayed in her heart become a reality.

"Matthew Saxon, thank you for still being alive," Scarlett Yates gently held his hand and leaned closer, lightly rubbing her head against his cold face.

His face was cold, yet Scarlett Yates’ heart felt warm.

Although many in this world might abandon her, she didn’t think Matthew Saxon was among them.

--

Time passed quickly, and Scarlett Yates felt as if she hadn’t stayed long at all before an hour had gone by.

Outside, a light knocking on the door was heard, and Scarlett heard Uncle Marshall calling for her: "Miss."

When she slowly walked over to open the door, Uncle Marshall hesitated for a moment, then said to her, "Miss, the time is up. Sir mentioned your visiting time is one hour, and now we should go."
