"If I can successfully obtain the antidote that day, I’ll book a ticket to fly back immediately. If not, I won’t stay too long. George won’t be coming with me; if you need anything, just contact him, and he’ll take care of everything for you."
"Or I can arrange a short trip for you. Just tell me where you’d like to go, and invite Stella Nelson along. You two are good friends and can look after each other while traveling."
He laid out his plans and gently squeezed her hand again after speaking, "I think arranging a short trip sounds good. You get bored staying home all alone. Why not go out and relax a bit? What do you think?"
Matthew Saxon’s plan was to send Scarlett Yates somewhere else while he couldn’t determine if his trip to A Country was safe.
That way, she could hide out somewhere else if anything unexpected happened.
Leaving her alone in Z City made him uneasy.
It was convenient since he had a reasonably good friend in Y Country whose influence was considerable locally, sending her there put him more at ease.
Even though Matthew was seeking her opinion, he had already made up his mind to send Scarlett away.
Scarlett remained silent, merely looking up at him.
She wasn’t foolish. When Matthew mentioned his plan to go to A Country with Alice Green, she sensed something was off.
And when she heard Matthew arranging a trip for her, the unease and ominous feeling in her heart grew stronger.
Alice Green could betray him once, she could betray him again.
His choice to follow Alice Green to A Country was clearly a risky move. Who knew if this was an elaborate trap set by Alice Green and the one behind it all?
Using the guise of the antidote as bait to lure him into a place filled with ambushes, and then capture him in one fell swoop.
Matthew Saxon definitely foresaw this risk, which was why he arranged for her to take a trip.
If it really came to that, how could she peacefully accept his arrangement to travel with friends while he was about to face danger?
"How about going to A Country? It’s got beautiful scenery and the weather is great. This is the perfect time for a trip. I have friends over there too, someone will meet you."

Scarlett Yates stared at him quietly for a while, her brows furrowing slightly and her lips biting tightly, finally speaking up, "You’re going to A Country with Alice Green? Aren’t you afraid there’s a trap waiting for you there? I know you’re worried about Uncle Saxon, but going like this is dangerous. If this is a trap someone set up early on, you might not get the antidote and won’t be able to escape either..."
The more she talked, the more dangerous it seemed, her brow furrowing even tighter: "Why do they insist on you going there? If they truly want to give up the antidote, wouldn’t it be easier to hand it to Alice Green? They insist on you going personally; don’t you find their purpose much too obvious?"
Unconsciously, she grasped his clothing, tightly clutching the finely crafted white shirt underneath: "Matthew Saxon, you can’t go, it’s too dangerous."
If the antidote couldn’t be brought back, he’d still trap himself...
