Chapter 1143: Chapter 1143: Why Should I Trust You

"But..." she curled her lips, self-mockingly said, "When have you ever loved me? There wasn’t even a trace of liking."

"If... even a slight liking existed, we wouldn’t have ended up like this today. The way you’re treating me now is worse than a stranger, and it really hurts inside."

There was an opened bottle of red wine on the table. She picked up the crystal glass filled with wine, gently shook it twice, closed her eyes, and then tilted her head back and drank all the wine.

"Forget it, let’s not talk about these things. I know you don’t want to listen to them anyway. Since we’ve spoken to this point, I won’t bring up any pointless topics with you anymore. I do have very reliable information, as long as you can agree to a few conditions, I will find a way to get the antidote for you."

Matthew Saxon squinted his narrow eyes slightly and smiled: "Why should I believe you?"

Without waiting for the waiter, Alice Green poured herself another glass of wine, drank it in one go, then raised her head to look at him.

She seemed a bit drunk, her eyes held a hint of daze, and her face showed a blush, making her look even more charming.

But this alluring and pretty face bore a sad expression. She looked at Matthew Saxon with a pitiful gaze and mournfully said, "Don’t worry, I won’t ask for anything excessive, just some minor tasks for you, if I fail to get the antidote, you can back out at any time. There’s no benefit to me in deceiving you."

"Matthew, I know I’ve made many mistakes, and I understand you’ll never forgive me in this lifetime, but I still want to make amends, as much as possible, so at least I’ll feel a bit better inside."

Her words were sincere and earnest, making it hard for anyone who heard them to not soften a little.

But bitten by a snake once, Matthew Saxon would never give the snake a second chance.

He just looked at her coldly: "Stop the nonsense and directly state your demands."

Alice Green’s expression tightened once again. She had been trying to create a sentimental atmosphere, hoping it would change the attitude of the man before her, but she seemed to have failed.

He wasn’t buying it at all.

Her expression cracked a little, stiff for several seconds, before slowly recovering. She gritted her teeth and accommodated, "Just help me establish myself in the entertainment industry and ensure my personal safety."

After hearing her request, Matthew Saxon was somewhat surprised, hesitated a bit, unsure: "That’s it?"

"That’s it."

Hearing him speak as if it were simple, Alice Green forced a bitter smile.

These two things might sound easy, but without help, they’re exceedingly difficult.

Since she officially announced her withdrawal from the entertainment industry, her previous standing was quickly replaced.

Every year the company cultivates new talents, and there are always hundreds competing for any vacant spot; there’s no space reserved for her.

So when she decided to return to the entertainment industry, she realized her value had plummeted.

Originally destined to marry into a wealthy family as a Young Madam, her worth was supposed to rise, but like her, those who announce a marriage but fail to proceed see their value drastically drop.

These issues weren’t the most urgent; currently, her foremost concern was about her personal safety.
