Chapter 110: Chapter 109: Besieging the White Wolf King

The gorgeous woman leaped forward, exhaling a pink, fragrant mist that rushed toward Gu Zhao.

Gu Zhao held his breath, but the pink mist still clung to his skin. Wisps of it tried to worm their way inside, but to no avail—his protective True Qi blocked them completely.

With a spin of his Long Spear, Gu Zhao unleashed his Xingyi Six Harmonies Spear technique, each strike aimed at the rat-eyed man’s vital points.

The fundamentals of any Spear Technique are blocking, seizing, and thrusting, along with other moves like piercing, coiling, circling, pouncing, tapping, deflecting, striking down, lifting, flicking, smashing, shaking, and parrying.

At this moment, Gu Zhao had forgone all defense, focusing solely on thrusting, piercing, tapping, and smashing. His style was utterly domineering. His Bright Silver Spear pulsed with purple lightning, forcing the rat-eyed man back step by step.

The rat-eyed man knew Martial Arts as well. He used his trident to lift, unload, block, and turn, deflecting Gu Zhao’s attacks one by one. However, his protective layer of Demon Power wavered violently, suppressed by Gu Zhao’s might. As lightning coursed into his body, he was forced back again.

Seeing the rat-eyed man losing ground, the gorgeous woman’s eyes narrowed. A wisp of her Divine Thought shot out, attempting to invade Gu Zhao’s Sea of Consciousness. But before it could reach him, the note of a flute materialized into an invisible blade and sliced her Divine Thought in two.

The gorgeous woman grunted in pain. She then saw the rat-eyed man manage to lock Gu Zhao’s Bright Silver Spear with his trident, trying to wrench it away. But with a sharp twist and turn, Gu Zhao forced the trident from the man’s grasp instead.

Gu Zhao then pressed forward, striking the rat-eyed man’s chest with his palm.

BOOM!

The Palm Thunder detonated at point-blank range. The rat-eyed man shrieked and was sent flying backward. In mid-air, a streak of purple light caught up to him, shattering his Protective Demon Power and piercing straight toward his heart.

The rat-eyed man coughed up a mouthful of blood and reverted to his true form—a rat the size of a large basket. He lay paralyzed on the ground, barely breathing.

The gorgeous woman was shocked, furious, and terrified all at once. When she saw Gu Zhao turn to look at her, her heart skipped a beat, and she backed away toward the White Wolf King.

But after only two steps, the shriek of the wind reminded her that she wasn’t safe there either. The clash between the two veteran Mages and the White Wolf King was even more perilous.

When she saw the two-meter-tall Taoist Yi Hong swinging his Great Saber with overwhelming momentum, the gorgeous woman stared blankly. ’Since when can a Human Mage physically overpower a Demon?’

And in the moment she was distracted, the tip of Gu Zhao’s spear was already at her back.

"Third Master, save me!" The gorgeous woman twisted aside to avoid the Long Spear, not daring to meet Gu Zhao head-on. She could only try to resist the flute music boring into her mind while dodging his attacks.

But in close combat, she was even weaker than the rat-eyed man. How could she possibly be a match for Gu Zhao?

Hearing the gorgeous woman’s cry, the White Wolf King’s eyes flashed with malice. His body abruptly dissolved into a black wind, circling around Taoist Yan Song’s Seven-Star Sword before reforming into a giant wolf head that lunged at Gu Zhao, jaws wide.

A sharp aura washed over Gu Zhao as the black wind closed in. However, before he could even make a move, a tornado materialized in front of the wolf head. The raging winds instantly scattered the black smoke.

As the black wind dissipated, the White Wolf King reappeared in a spin beside the gorgeous woman. He glanced at the barely breathing rat, then fixed his gaze on Gu Zhao’s group.

’These Mages clearly have less Dao Practice than I do,’ the White Wolf King thought, ’but the power of their Magical Power and True Qi is so profound and vast... It’s as if the Celestial Dao itself is helping them suppress my Demon Power. If my own Dao Practice weren’t so advanced, I might have already lost.’

’What kind of Cultivation Technique are they using?’

The White Wolf King glanced at the gales still swirling around him and tossed his folding fan into the air. The fan snapped open on its own, and hundreds of white wolves poured out from it. They started small and illusory but rapidly grew and solidified as they charged forth.

’Our Martial Arts are evenly matched. Then I’ll win with Magic!’

Hundreds of white wolves swarmed out, stampeding in all directions. They charged toward Taoist Yi Hong and Taoist Yan Song, who were closing in from behind, while also lunging at the nearer Gu Zhao and Zhuo Qingyan.

But Taoist Yan Song switched to another theatrical mask and puckered his lips to whistle.

WHOOSH—

The gales continued to rage as flames suddenly erupted.

Golden-red flames materialized from thin air within the gale, forming a sea of fire that instantly engulfed the hundreds of white wolves.

The Taiyi Wind and Fire, empowered by Taoist True Qi, was exceptionally effective against evil forces. When the flames touched the wolves, it was as if they had found the perfect fuel; each and every wolf was set ablaze.

The White Wolf King flew into a rage at this sight. He desperately poured his Magical Power into the folding fan, trying to disperse the flames.

Then he saw Gu Zhao pull out a triangular yellow Paper Talisman. "Eyes like sun and moon, opening and closing heaven and earth," Gu Zhao chanted. "The primal origin established, the Four Symbols complete. Yin and Yang transform, ascending the spirit to Shangqing."

The Paper Talisman instantly dissolved into ash as a ray of light shot into Taoist Yan Song’s chest. The Wind and Fire spewing from Taoist Yan Song’s mouth visibly intensified, its power surging by another thirty percent.

BOOM!

Wolf after wolf burst into flames before turning into streaks of white light that flew back into the folding fan. Their Origin had been damaged, and it would be a long time before they could be summoned again.

SWISH!

A biting wind from a blade swept through again. Seeing the wolves vanish, Taoist Yi Hong executed a Powerful Slash of Hua Mountain, and the edge of his Cyan Dragon Crescent Saber was once again upon the White Wolf King.

The White Wolf King’s Demon Power flared as he leaped back. He then felt a faint pressure bearing down from above. Looking up, he saw dark clouds gathering abruptly, shot through with flashes of purple light and the faint rumble of thunder—it was like the wrath of heaven itself.

’Where in the world did these people come from?’

’Both their Magical Power and their Magic are profound, effortless, and unbelievably potent.’

A sense of dread grew in the White Wolf King’s heart. He no longer wanted to fight. Grabbing the gorgeous woman’s hand, he once again transformed into a black wind. "Let’s go!"

"You’re not getting away!" Taoist Yi Hong’s saber came slashing down. The fierce blade-wind cleaved the black wind in two, the True Qi churning within it shattering the White Wolf King’s Magic and forcing him to reappear.

The White Wolf King retracted his folding fan and somersaulted backward. He let out a piercing howl, unleashing a visible shockwave that blasted through Taoist Yan Song’s Taiyi Wind and Fire but was stopped by a translucent barrier.

"This Great Dragon-locking Array was initiated with a Celestial Spirit Talisman and rooted with a Great Dragon-locking Talisman," Gu Zhao said. "Its foundation is made of twelve Purple Sandalwood pillars, each twice the height of a man. In addition to the Magical Power we’ve been constantly feeding it, it has also spent over ten days absorbing the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi. Did you really think it would be so easy to break?"

Gu Zhao formed the Celestial Thunder Seal with his left hand and pinched his fingers into the sign of the Thunder-Expelling Curse with his right. "Celestial thunder, earthly thunder, shake the eight directions! Topple mountains and fell peaks, pierce the very heavens!"

RUMBLE!

A dozen violet-gold Thunderbolts shot down from the clouds, blanketing the area several meters around the White Wolf King.

AWOOO—

With a howl, the White Wolf King drew down moonlight from the sky. It pierced through the Great Dragon-locking Array to envelop him, blocking most of the Thunderbolts before lancing out again. It penetrated the Taiyi Wind and Fire and struck the array’s barrier, sending ripples across its surface.

In the next moment, both the moonlight and the thunderclouds dissipated. The White Wolf King now had the head of a wolf, his fangs bared and his eyes savage. Demon Power steamed off his body, making him look like a demon king incarnate.

Gu Zhao casually flipped his palm, revealing a thick stack of Talismans. "I’ve got dozens of Mountain Thunder Talismans and Fire Thunder Talismans right here," he said with a smirk. "And they’re all for you!"
