Chapter 810: Chapter 809: Take it!
"Young man, did your wife pick out those clothes for you?" the middle-aged auntie asked with a smile as she saw him holding the clothes.
Liu Zheng was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head, "It wasn’t my wife, it was a friend of mine who chose them for me. Could you please make out the bill for me?"
"Sure thing!" The middle-aged auntie cheerfully whipped out her billing book, swiftly wrote out a receipt, and handed it to him, "Here you go!"
Liu Zheng took the receipt, paid, and then left with his purchases.
Once home, he couldn’t wait to change into the new clothes, and the man in the mirror looked exceptionally handsome.
A delighted smile curled at the corners of Liu Zheng’s lips.
Song Yuhan, that silly goose, actually had quite good taste!
Feeling extremely happy, Liu Zheng walked to the stairwell, where his gaze suddenly lingered on a pair of shoes on the shoe rack.
The shoes on the rack varied in style and design, but there was one pair just like Song Yuhan’s.
His eyes lit up instantly, and he stepped into the room.
He picked up the shoes, inspected them carefully, and sure enough, they were the exact same size as Song Yuhan’s!
Liu Zheng put on the shoes, and with a buoyant mood, he went downstairs.
...
In the afternoon, at the Ye Corporation, Liu Zheng drove over to the Ye Family residence.
As he walked into the courtyard, he saw Song Yuhan watering flowers in the garden.
She was dressed in a black trench coat, which made her slender figure even more enchanting. Her hair was tied into ponytails on either side of her head, and she looked every bit the professional woman, striking and vigorous, especially as she bent over to tend to the flowers, exuding charm. Liu Zheng’s gaze was fixed on Song Yuhan.
There was no denying that she had that extra touch of a powerful woman’s charm when dressed in office attire.
Liu Zheng approached from behind Song Yuhan and gently embraced her, "Watering the flowers?"
Song Yuhan paused briefly but quickly resumed her natural demeanor, "Mhm."
Liu Zheng leaned close to her ear, teasingly asked, "While you water the flowers, are you thinking of me?"
Song Yuhan’s body stiffened noticeably, her heart racing—this man... why was he such a rogue? They had only been apart for one night, and here he was, on her mind again!
"You’re overthinking it. I’m watering the flowers," Song Yuhan said indifferently, continuing her task.
Liu Zheng couldn’t help but laugh.
This girl’s talent for saying one thing and feeling another was certainly impressive!
"By the way, are you going to have dinner tonight? I’ll cook for you."
Song Yuhan glanced at him, her tone still cool, "I’ve already eaten."
"Really?" Liu Zheng pretended to be puzzled, "I just ate at the company, why didn’t I see you there? Could it be that you were slacking off?"
"What business is it of yours? Whether I choose to eat or not, what does it have to do with you?" Song Yuhan retorted disdainfully.
Liu Zheng smiled slyly, "It might not concern me, but you’re carrying my child in your belly. What if your slacking off affects the baby’s prenatal education?"
Song Yuhan’s heart skipped a beat. He already knew about her pregnancy?
No, that’s impossible...
Her hands clenched into fists as she struggled to control her emotions.
"Tell me, shouldn’t you let me know where you’ve been recently? Why is your phone unreachable? And why do you have so many cards, what about your ID? Your household registration book?" Liu Zheng’s penetrating gaze was fixed on Song Yuhan’s face like an x-ray.
Song Yuhan’s breath quickened. She felt as though he could see right through her and averted her eyes, "I don’t know what you’re talking about, all I know is I went traveling."
"Traveling? Were you planning to leave me or draw a clear line between us?" Liu Zheng pressed.
"I told you I just went out to clear my head. As for your so-called boundaries, I think you must be confused," Song Yuhan looked him in the eye, "Don’t you remember? Or do I need to remind you?"
"Song Yuhan!"
Liu Zheng’s expression darkened suddenly, his voice rose sharply, "Do you even know what you’re saying?"
His expression was changeable, and the air around them seemed to freeze.
"Of course, I do. I not only know what I’m saying, but I also know who I am and the distance between us. Don’t think you’re something special just because you’re my boss. I won’t yield to anyone."
"You!" Liu Zheng’s chest heaved with anger as he took a deep breath and struggled to suppress the flames of rage within him, "You are not my employee, nor are you my fiancée! I won’t allow you to speak to me like this!"
"So, what should I call you? Chairman Ye? CEO? Or perhaps..." Song Yuhan drawled, looking at him with a mocking smile.
Liu Zheng grabbed her arm sharply, "Don’t you dare address me with those titles!"
He didn’t like those titles; he liked it even less when people treated him like an ordinary man!
"Oh..." Song Yuhan nodded, acknowledging him.
Liu Zheng released her arm, "You better remember your place. I don’t want to see you pulling any tricks over this sort of thing!"
"What ’tricks’ are you referring to?" Song Yuhan feigned ignorance.
"No need for me to remind you!" Liu Zheng’s voice suddenly turned icy.
"Oh, I see, you mean..."
"Song Yuhan, I’m warning you, don’t try to provoke me!" Liu Zheng glared at her fiercely.
"I don’t want to provoke you, but I’m not that foolish," Song Yuhan said indifferently, sparing him a glance.
Liu Zheng: "..."
"Liu Zheng! I only came here today to deliver breakfast! Our deal is finished; I don’t have to cater to your every whim anymore!" Song Yuhan dropped the water bottle from her hand and turned to leave with long strides.
Liu Zheng’s eyes instantly turned cold, and he seized her wrist.
"Let go! You are hurting me!" Unable to break free, Song Yuhan could only frown and glare at him.
Liu Zheng laughed coldly, "Isn’t your reaction a bit too extreme? I just wanted to touch your hand, is such a big response really necessary? Do you truly not know, or are you pretending not to know?"
"What exactly do you want?" Song Yuhan asked with a frown.
Liu Zheng smirked wickedly, "I don’t want anything, but you have to promise me that from now on, you won’t casually go on dates with other men, or else... you know what will happen."
"Hmph, Liu Zheng, you can’t be naive enough to think that an accident would take away my freedom completely, can you?" Song Yuhan scoffed disdainfully.
"If you don’t believe me, then go ahead and try."
With those words, Liu Zheng let go of her and walked straight upstairs, slamming the door behind him with a "bang."
Song Yuhan watched his retreating figure with clenched teeth, knowing full well he wasn’t just trying to scare her.
These past few days, she had repeatedly noticed the Ye Family’s household staff monitoring her; not a single move of hers could escape their watchful eyes.
She wasn’t a fool; she knew this was Liu Zheng’s doing.
Did he want to imprison her?
Haha...
A sarcastic smile curled the corners of Song Yuhan’s mouth.
At that moment, the image of Shen Mengyao suddenly flashed through her mind.
If... she also resorted to drugging her, like Shen Mengyao had...
At this thought, Song Yuhan’s face turned pale.
No! She absolutely couldn’t fall for it, or else... she would truly be finished.
She must find a way to break free from Liu Zheng!
"Ding dong, ding dong~~~"
The doorbell rang, and Song Yuhan hurried to answer it.
Looking at the stranger before her, Song Yuhan’s gaze turned cold.
"May I ask who you’re looking for?" Song Yuhan asked politely.
"Hello, miss, my name is Auntie Zhong, I’m in charge of looking after you. I’ve come today to deliver soup on behalf of the master," Auntie Zhong said amiably.
Song Yuhan’s expression softened slightly, "Please, come in."
She let Auntie Zhong into the house, who then set down the thermos, "This is the soup pot the master asked me to bring. Please have it while it’s hot, miss."
"Thank you."
