Chapter 799: Chapter 798: Marry Him Obediently
Lin Yuehua heard this and was startled for a moment before she began to persuade, "Yu Han, I’ve seen the news these past days. It seems you’ve had a falling out with that man. Those reporters even got ahold of a video, painting your relationship as though you abandoned him. Then he hated you to the bone, even threatening you that if you don’t wed him obediently, he’d expose your scandal. By then, I’m afraid your reputation would stink to high heaven."
"Mom, whether my reputation stinks isn’t important, but if it causes you to lose your job, then that would truly be my failing," Song Yuhan said resolutely.
"Silly girl, what are you talking about? I fought hard for my job. How could I lose it because of you? Moreover, you’ve been studying abroad for these years, and mom and dad can’t always be by your side. Now that such a good opportunity is in front of you, you must not miss it!" Lin Yuehua earnestly urged.
Song Yuhan hesitated for a moment and finally nodded.
She remembered the video those reporters took of her hanging out with a gang of ruffians. If it were leaked, her reputation might indeed be affected, and her parents would surely suffer as well.
So, in the end, she compromised.
"Alright," Song Yuhan said. "Then Dad, Mom, I’m going up to rest."
Lin Yuehua nodded then said, "Yu Han, call us if you have any difficulties. Your dad has always wanted to check on your leg but he’s been so busy at the company that he’s had no free time."
"Mm, alright, thank you, Dad. I’ll talk to him for sure."
"Go on, then."
Watching Song Yuhan’s retreating figure as she went upstairs, Lin Yuehua’s face showed a relieved smile. These days, her daughter had finally grown up a bit and realized she should care for both her and her husband.
Seeing Lin Yuehua looking so pleased, Song Jianhui couldn’t help but ask, "Yuehua, is Yu Han hiding any troubles?"
"Ah, a woman of marriageable age, no longer young, how could she have no worries? But there’s no need for you to fret. All you need to do is educate her properly," Lin Yuehua said with a chuckle.
"Alright, alright."
...
The next morning, Song Yuhan woke up early. After washing up, she sat on her bed, zoning out.
She hadn’t slept well last night, her mind involuntarily filled with thoughts of Jiang Yucheng.
She knew very clearly that she had fallen for Jiang Yucheng.
She wanted to marry Jiang Yucheng.
But what should she do about Jiang Yucheng?
Song Yuhan bit her lip, then with resolution, decided she had to break up with Jiang Yucheng quickly.
She could endure the pain of a broken heart but couldn’t stand others’ gossip and mockery. That would not only hurt her personally but also impact her family’s life.
Song Yuhan decided she would go see Jiang Yucheng within the next few days to have a proper talk.
In this world, there’s no such thing as love without reason, nor is there hate without cause.
Although she was reluctant to admit she had fallen for Jiang Yucheng, her heart was crystal clear, she had indeed fallen for him.
So, she had to speak clearly with Jiang Yucheng as soon as possible; otherwise, if she encountered that kind of situation again, she probably wouldn’t have the courage to break up with him.
At four o’clock in the afternoon, Song Yuhan packed her things, left the house, and hailed a taxi straight to the Emperor View Building.
Song Yuhan took the elevator to the top floor, stepped out, and walked straight toward the CEO’s office.
"May I ask who you’re looking for?"
Just as she entered the CEO’s exclusive elevator, a sweet voice rang out.
Song Yuhan turned her head and saw the receptionist secretary standing to the side, her eyes sparkling brightly as she looked at her.
Song Yuhan couldn’t help but pause.
The receptionist looked only slightly older than herself, with an attractive face and a curvy figure in her professional attire, appearing very efficient.
Song Yuhan had seen quite a few beauties here.
But it was rare to see one as pretty as the receptionist, especially in such a high-end setting, which somewhat surprised Song Yuhan.
The receptionist secretary perceived Song Yuhan’s gaze and immediately winked at her with a smile as bright as bloom.
"Miss Song, hello! My name is Li Xiaolin, and I’ll be your future executive assistant. My surname’s Chen; you can call me Xiaolin," Li Xiaolin introduced herself warmly.
"Miss Chen, I’m looking for Jiang Yucheng," Song Yuhan said politely.
Upon hearing this, Chen Xiaolin immediately showed a curious expression and asked, "Miss Song, our CEO isn’t in the office."
Song Yuhan was startled, "Where did he go?"
"I’m not too sure about that. Miss Song, if it’s not an urgent matter, could you please sit down? I’ll go and inform him right away."
As Chen Xiaolin said this, she walked towards the outside.
Song Yuhan quickly stopped Chen Xiaolin, "I’ll wait here!"
"Alright," Chen Xiaolin replied with a smile and then picked up the office phone outside the door, "CEO’s office, Miss Song is here waiting for you!"
"Song Yuhan."
Not long after, a cold voice arrived.
Li Xiaolin startled, quickly hung up the phone.
"Miss Song, please."
"Thank you."
Song Yuhan said with a smile.
Li Xiaolin returned a slight smile and then walked with Song Yuhan toward the sofa.
"Miss Song, please have some tea."
"Thank you."
"Miss Song, order whatever you like; the items here are quite expensive, so you might want to save some."
"Miss Li, thanks for the trouble."
"Miss Song, don’t mention it; it’s the least I can do."
"Miss Song, are you friends with the president?"
"..."
Li Xiaolin’s conversation topics revolved around Jiang Yucheng, and Song Yuhan was bombarded with questions until she couldn’t fend them off anymore and had to find an excuse to leave the president’s office.
Song Yuhan walked ahead, stopping in front of a restaurant.
The restaurant was large and lavishly decorated.
After Song Yuhan entered the restaurant, a waiter immediately greeted her.
"May I ask what Miss Song would like to eat?"
Song Yuhan looked around, "I just want to eat something casual."
"Then I’ll bring the menu right up for you," the waiter said with a smile, nodding and then stepping away.
Song Yuhan sat at a window seat and picked up the menu on the table to browse through it.
The menu listed all kinds of expensive food.
Song Yuhan looked for a while but put down the menu; the food here seemed delicious and appealing, but Song Yuhan wasn’t very hungry. She just wanted to taste what the place had to offer.
Soon enough, the dishes were served one after another, complete with attractive colors, aroma, and flavors.
Song Yuhan ate her meal leisurely, occasionally looking out of the window.
By now, office hours were over, and there were few people on the streets, the entire street quiet and still.
Song Yuhan’s gaze shifted and saw across the street, a black Rolls-Royce parked there.
Her brows furrowed, Jiang Yucheng was here!
A surge of anger suddenly welled up inside Song Yuhan, and she put down her chopsticks, ready to leave.
"Miss Song, where are you going?" Li Xiaolin hurriedly tried to stop her upon noticing her movement.
"Miss Song, please wait. The president just instructed that if you need anything, go straight to his office to find him."
Song Yuhan paused, wondering how Jiang Yucheng knew to look for her.
Song Yuhan thought it over and decided not to let Jiang Yucheng know she was looking for him, so she did not go to the president’s office.
"Okay, then I won’t go."
Song Yuhan picked up her chopsticks and continued eating.
"Miss Song, take your time, and just tell me if you need anything," Li Xiaolin reminded her a few more times, then turned around and walked back to the reception desk.
After finishing her meal, Song Yuhan sat for a while longer in the restaurant, then got up, ready to leave.
As Song Yuhan walked to the restaurant’s entrance, suddenly, two police officers in uniform walked in from the door.
Seeing the police, Song Yuhan couldn’t help but freeze for a moment.
"Hello, may I ask if you are Miss Song Yuhan?" one of the officers approached Song Yuhan, asking respectfully.
Song Yuhan nodded dumbly.
"The thing is, you are a suspect in a murder case that we have just solved. We have apprehended the suspect, and now we would like you to come with us to the station to assist with the investigation," the officer explained, then gestured with his hand, leading Song Yuhan forward.
Song Yuhan was stunned upon hearing this; she hadn’t expected it to be this matter, thinking it was just a typical kidnapping case, not a murder.
"Miss Song, please come with us."
