Chapter 749: Chapter 748: The Competition
"Oh, I have a seriously ill family member at home, so I took a few days off to take care of them," Liu Zheng lied casually.
Actually, Liu Zheng was going to participate in the "Huaxia Good Voice" competition.
Although Liu Zheng didn’t want to join any "Huaxia Good Voice" competition, since he had promised Su Lingyao to win, he had to get the championship; otherwise, how could he continue to mix in the entertainment industry?
...
After dinner, Liu Zheng lay on the bed, checked the time, and found it was almost seven o’clock.
Watching the Korean drama on the TV screen, Liu Zheng felt incredibly bored.
Therefore, Liu Zheng opened his laptop, logged into QQ, and prepared to play some games.
He had just come online when he received a new message.
[Hello, are you Liu Zheng?]
"Yes, who’s this?" Liu Zheng asked.
"Oh, I’m Xiao Zhou from the online department, an editor. Our department is holding a ’I am a Singer’ competition, so we invite you to participate in the program recording. We hope you can join!" Xiao Zhou sent the message.
"’I am a Singer’?!" Liu Zheng was taken aback.
"Yes, Mr. Wang," Xiao Zhou continued, "The show crew has arranged this specially to promote your name, and they will send someone to pick you up. Please pack your things and get ready now, I’ll send you the contact address in a moment."
After saying this, Xiao Zhou sent his phone number to Liu Zheng, along with a time, place, and a contact number.
"Okay, thank you for the trouble," Liu Zheng replied.
"Don’t mention it, it’s our duty."
Then, Liu Zheng immediately closed QQ and started to pack his things, ready to leave the school.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Liu Zheng opened the door.
It was Zhao Xueping standing at the door, smiling and asking, "Master, have you packed up?"
"Packed up, what’s up?"
"I want to go buy some water. Could you take me there?" Zhao Xueping said.
"Of course."
Hearing this, Zhao Xueping happily said, "That’s great, thank you, Master."
Liu Zheng looked at Zhao Xueping, smiled, and said, "No need to be polite, I’ll take you."
...
"Master, this way," Zhao Xueping pointed to a shopping cart in the distance and told Liu Zheng.
Liu Zheng nodded.
After buying water, Zhao Xueping suggested treating Liu Zheng to dinner, but Liu Zheng declined, saying that he had a plane to catch.
In the end, Zhao Xueping had to let Liu Zheng go first.
...
Around nine o’clock in the evening, Liu Zheng boarded the flight to Yanjing City.
...
The next morning.
Liu Zheng met a young man in a black leather jacket, wearing sunglasses, in the VIP lounge of Yanjing Airport.
Liu Zheng observed the young man, thinking to himself, This must be the person in charge of "I am a Singer" and the head of the planning group for "Huaxia Good Voice," Zhao Xueping’s superior!
"Assistant Zhao, hello," Liu Zheng shook his hand politely.
Zhao Xueping also smiled and said, "Mr. Wang, hello."
Liu Zheng asked, "Hello, are you the person in charge of ’I am a Singer’?"
"Yes, I am, and I am honored to work with you," Zhao Xueping said.
"Then please feel free to guide me!" Liu Zheng said with a smile.
"Sure, Mr. Wang, please wait a moment," said Zhao Xueping, then turned around and ran towards the check-in counter.
After a while,
She came into the lounge carrying a bag of things.
"Please finish this bag of drinks," Zhao Xueping handed a Coke to Liu Zheng.
"Thank you, Assistant Zhao," Liu Zheng took the Coke and thanked her.
"Mr. Wang, may I ask about your schedule?" Zhao Xueping asked with a smiling face.
Liu Zheng thought for a moment and said, "I don’t have any plans for the moment, Assistant Zhao, where is my suitcase?"
"Oh! I forgot to get it," Zhao Xueping slapped her forehead and said, "I apologize, I’ll go get it now."
Zhao Xueping turned and left again.
Liu Zheng sat in the chair, watching Zhao Xueping’s back, his eyes slightly squinting.
He thought to himself, "It looks like this collaboration is going to go smoothly!"
Soon.
Zhao Xueping, carrying a small black luggage bag, walked back to the waiting room.
She smiled at Liu Zheng and said, "Mr. Wang, your luggage has been retrieved."
"Thank you very much, Assistant Zhao. Could you please take me to the exit?" Liu Zheng replied.
Zhao Xueping nodded, "No problem."
"Let’s go." With that, Zhao Xueping pulled the suitcase and headed outside.
Liu Zheng followed closely behind.
The two took the elevator to the exit of Yanjing City.
At the exit, a stretch Lincoln limousine was parked.
Zhao Xueping, assisting Liu Zheng with his suitcase, opened the car door for him.
"Let’s go," Zhao Xueping said.
"Thank you," Liu Zheng said, and then sat in the front passenger seat.
Zhao Xueping took her place in the driver’s seat.
The car started slowly.
Zhao Xueping looked at Liu Zheng in the rearview mirror and then asked, "Mr. Wang, where would you like to go now?"
"Anywhere."
Zhao Xueping thought for a moment and then asked, "Have you been in Capital City for long?"
"Not quite clear," Liu Zheng shook his head.
"Capital City is bustling, but after all, it’s a metropolis with a complex environment. Thus, I think it would be wise for you to stay a few more days and observe the surroundings," Zhao Xueping suggested.
"I really would like to stay a few days!" Liu Zheng said with a smile.
"That makes things easier," Zhao Xueping smiled and continued, "I have a hotel in Yanjing, not far from downtown. Would you like to check it out?"
"Sure," Liu Zheng nodded.
The car drove out of Yanjing’s downtown area, heading towards the suburbs, and finally stopped in front of a three-story building.
After parking the car, Zhao Xueping opened the door, smiled at Liu Zheng, and said, "Mr. Wang, welcome to visit our company."
"Thank you, Assistant Zhao."
With that, Liu Zheng got out of the car with Zhao Xueping.
He looked up at the towering skyscraper with a smile on his face.
"This is our company’s building," Zhao Xueping introduced.
Liu Zheng smiled and followed Zhao Xueping into the lobby.
At noon, the first floor of the lobby was already quite crowded.
Liu Zheng followed Zhao Xueping straight to the second floor, where they found a man in his thirties in a large room.
The man was wearing a white shirt and dress pants, looking very spirited.
"You must be Mr. Wang," the man said eagerly, approaching and extending his hand warmly as he saw Liu Zheng.
Liu Zheng shook his hand gently and asked, "May I know who you are?"
"Heh... Just call me Awei," the man said. "I’m the head of Yanjing City’s radio station, Awei."
"It’s an honor to meet you, Brother Awei," Liu Zheng said graciously.
"No, I should be thanking Mr. Wang," Awei replied, and then pointed to a desk nearby, "Our company’s president is waiting for you inside."
"I appreciate it, Brother Awei," Liu Zheng expressed his thanks.
Afterward, he walked shoulder to shoulder with Awei toward that office.
As soon as he entered the office, he heard the pleasant sound of piano music.
"Please, Mr. Wang, this way," Awei invited, pointing to the office.
"Okay," Liu Zheng acknowledged and walked in.
In the office, sitting on a sofa, was an old man in his fifties or sixties.
The old man had a bald head, not a single hair on it.
He wore gold-rimmed glasses on his face.
His figure was thin; his cheekbones protruded and his eye sockets were deep-set.
"This is our company’s chairman, Boss Chen," Awei introduced.
"Boss Chen," Liu Zheng greeted politely.
"Mmm," Boss Chen responded.
"Mr. Wang," Awei continued, addressing Liu Zheng, "your belongings have all been brought here. Would you like them on the desk?"
"Put them on the desk," Liu Zheng said with a smile.
