Chapter 620: Chapter 619 Adding Tea

"Cousin, little sister Yao, you two chat slowly, I’ll go and instruct the kitchen to serve you some dishes and scoop a bowl of soup for you!" Father Su said.

"Mhm! Thank you, Uncle Su!" Liu Wenjie nodded in acknowledgment.

...

Before long, all the dishes were served and Mother Su also poured a cup of tea for each of them.

Lord Su and Su Mengyao sat opposite each other, eating and making casual conversation.

"Cousin, do you know how many servants and followers you brought with you to the Capital City this time?" Su Mengyao asked while eating the dishes on the table.

"About sixty or seventy people," he answered.

"Oh!" Su Mengyao nodded.

"By the way, cousin sister, how did you come to be in the Capital City?" Liu Wenjie suddenly asked.

"I was originally going to the south to conduct an inspection, but I met with some accidents on the way and was abducted by human traffickers, that’s how I ended up in the Capital City!" Su Mengyao told the truth.

Liu Wenjie nodded, but said no more.

As they ate and chatted idly, they soon finished their meal.

"Big brother, it’s getting late, I’ll go back to my room and rest!" Su Mengyao said.

"Mhm, then you should hurry to sleep, little sister Yao!"

Su Mengyao returned to her room and lay on the bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time, with Liu Wenjie’s handsome face continuously appearing in her mind.

"Liu Wenjie, in this lifetime, I shall marry no one but you!" Su Mengyao silently pledged.

"I wonder, what kind of person will my fiancé be?" Su Mengyao murmured to herself excitedly.

...

Liu Wenjie arrived at the Su Family and located Father Su.

"Uncle Su, I have a favor to ask of you!" Liu Wenjie said, looking at Father Su.

"Ha ha, just speak your mind, if there is anything you need Uncle Su’s help with, I am more than willing!" Father Su said heartily.

"Uncle Su, do you think you could let little sister Yao come and visit my family for a few days?" Liu Wenjie asked with a smile.

"Visit?" Father Su questioned, puzzled.

"Yeah, it’s just... it’s just that I want to see her!"

"Little sister Yao? What’s her name? How did you come to know little sister Yao?" Father Su asked curiously.

"Er... we... we grew up together and are very close!"

"Oh, is that so? What is little sister Yao’s current situation?"

"She... she’s doing well now, it’s just..." Liu Wenjie trailed off.

Seeing him like this, Father Su immediately became anxious, "Just what? Speak your mind!"

"The thing is, little sister Yao is now my fiancée, so... so..." Liu Wenjie stammered.

"You two... you’re going to wed?" Father Su was taken aback, somewhat incredulous.

"Yes, little sister Yao is now with me, and I want to take her to the Liu Family. I want to marry Yao as my wife, may I?" Liu Wenjie asked, anxious.

"You want little sister Yao to go to the Liu Family?" Upon hearing this, Father Su frowned.

"Yes!" Liu Wenjie nodded emphatically.

"Brother Liu, this... this might not be proper, right? After all, little sister Yao is not yet of marital age, and furthermore, her father has already..."

"I don’t care!" Liu Wenjie said defiantly.

"But..." Father Su hesitated.

"All I ask for is a status!" Liu Wenjie earnestly implored, looking at Father Su.

"Alright, since that’s the case, I will agree to your request, but, it must be with Yao’s consent!" Father Su decided after some thought, finally agreeing to his request.

Liu Wenjie’s face beamed with joy at hearing this.

Father Su continued, "Brother Liu, you’re also from a prominent family. If you marry a maid, I wonder what others might say about you?"

Liu Wenjie’s face stiffened, "I will explain it!"

"Then it’s settled!" Father Su nodded.

"Mhm!" Liu Wenjie nodded.

After dinner, Su Mengyao returned to her room.

As soon as she entered, she realized that she was tied up tightly.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Su Mengyao struggled to no avail and had to give up.

"Second Miss, this is our master’s order!" a person in black said.

"Who is your master?" Su Mengyao asked.

"You shouldn’t ask what you don’t need to know," the person in black said impatiently.

"I just want to ask!" Su Mengyao snorted coldly.

"You..." Upon hearing this, the person in black felt a surge of anger, their palm raised high, about to strike Su Mengyao.

Just then, a maid dressed in red ran in, shouting anxiously, "Big brother, sister-in-law! What are you doing? Hurry up and let the Second Miss go! Don’t hurt her!"

Hearing the maid’s voice, Su Mengyao was then able to see that this was the head maid of the Su Family, and she remembered her.

"Let her go!" the person in black ordered the others.

The black-clothed people immediately freed Su Mengyao from the ropes that bound her.

"Big brother, how could you be so muddled? The Second Miss is someone whom the master values, how could you bear the consequences if you beat her to death?" the head maid chided.

"Humph!" The person in black snorted coldly and left the room unhappily.

The head maid walked over to the bed, helped Su Mengyao up, and asked, "Second Miss, how are you? Are you alright?"

Su Mengyao shook her head: "I’m fine!"

"That’s good, you scared me to death just now!" the head maid said, patting her chest.

"Big sister, I’m fine; it’s you who got a fright!"

"Second Miss, let me help you to the vanity to look in the mirror and see if you’re injured anywhere!" the head maid suggested.

"Alright!"

The head maid helped Su Mengyao to the vanity, and upon seeing her reflection in the mirror, Su Mengyao herself was stunned.

Her eyes were hollow and spiritless, her complexion pale, lips cracked and dry, skin sallow, hair in utter disarray, the whole person was nothing but skin and bones, no longer bearing the previous seductive enchantment.

"Oh my, my Second Miss! How did you end up looking like this? How did this happen to you?" the head maid covered her mouth, exclaiming in shock.

"Big sister, I... what happened to me?" Su Mengyao muttered to herself.

"Second Miss, this is all those villain’s fault!" the head maid said.

"How could they possibly harm me?" Su Mengyao shook her head: "Big sister, I want to go to the Liu Family!"

"Second Miss, you mustn’t! That’s the Liu Family! Wouldn’t going there be like a lamb entering a tiger’s den?" the head maid advised.

"Big sister, that’s what you say about ordinary people’s homes. What’s my status? How could I possibly become the wife of an ordinary household? If I don’t go to the Liu family, where should I go?" Su Mengyao said.

"But... Second Miss, I really don’t want anything to happen to you!" the head maid implored.

"Alright, big sister, don’t try to dissuade me. My mind is made up and will not change. You better pack up. Take me to the Liu Family tomorrow!"

"Ah..."

The head maid sighed, feeling helpless and shook her head.

"Second Miss, wait for me, I’ll pack your things right now!" After saying that, she turned and ran out of the room.

"Big sister, go ahead!"

"Yes, Second Miss!"

...

In the Liu Family’s great hall.

"Father, Mother! Your daughter pays her respects!"

"Please sit down!" Mother Liu said lovingly.

"Thank you, Mother!" Su Mengyao sat down obediently on the chair.

"Second Miss, do you have some matter for coming to see Father and Mother today?" Liu Wenjie asked.

"Yes!" Su Mengyao nodded her head.

Liu Wenjie looked at Mother Liu, signalling her to speak first.
