Chapter 563: Chapter 562: Never Lost before
Liu Zheng looked at Bai Ling opposite him and spoke lightly.
"Are you ready?" Bai Ling nodded her head, she hadn’t expected Liu Zheng to be so straightforward, but then she thought about her own words just now and indeed, they deserved a beating.
"Then make your move!" Liu Zheng said as he took hold of his long sword in his hand.
"Me make the first move? Wouldn’t that make me look weak?" Bai Ling felt like she was shooting herself in the foot upon hearing Liu Zheng’s words. It was the first time she had seen him so direct; she never knew Liu Zheng was actually this formidable!
"If you want to duel, I’ll indulge you, but if you lose, stay away from me in the future and don’t let me see you again!" As Liu Zheng spoke, he drew his long sword and placed it against his neck.
Seeing Liu Zheng’s action, Bai Ling was shocked and quickly tried to stop him, "Wait! Don’t be rash, didn’t I say I won’t lay a hand on you? Don’t just swing that thing around!"
Liu Zheng looked at Bai Ling and said coldly, "If you don’t make a move soon, I can’t guarantee that I won’t kill you with one stroke of my sword!"
With that threat from Liu Zheng, Bai Ling immediately held her tongue, genuinely afraid that Liu Zheng might suddenly thrust his sword through her throat. Though her life was tough, she was still young and didn’t want death to be so close!
Seeing that Liu Zheng was not joking, Bai Ling quickly took out her weapon from her storage ring and attacked Liu Zheng.
"Boom boom boom!"
The two instantly clashed in battle. Bai Ling dared not be careless because she knew that Liu Zheng had the cultivation of the ninth level of the Golden Core Realm; if she didn’t use her full strength, she would certainly be killed in seconds!
"Swoosh!"
Liu Zheng saw Bai Ling unleashing her strongest sword technique and immediately dodged it. He didn’t want to injure Bai Ling, which is why he hadn’t used his full strength, while Bai Ling, fearing Liu Zheng would hurt her, also unleashed her strongest offensive.
After a few minutes of exchanging blows with Liu Zheng, Bai Ling realized just how big the gap between them was. Her attacks couldn’t harm Liu Zheng in the slightest. Her only advantage was her speed, but even so, she could not find a single flaw in Liu Zheng, leaving her no choice but to retreat.
"I lost."
"Are you sure? Think it over! Are you sure you don’t need me to teach you swordsmanship?"
"I..." Bai Ling looked at Liu Zheng and felt somewhat troubled, but eventually, she gritted her teeth and said, "No need! I’ve thought it through!"
"Heh... since you’ve thought it through, then I won’t say any more." Liu Zheng chuckled, stored his long sword back into the storage ring, and then walked into the cave.
Watching Liu Zheng’s retreating figure, Bai Ling’s eyes began to moisten.
Bai Ling took a deep breath, then turned around and walked toward her own mountain peak.
Meanwhile, on the mountainside of another peak, there sat a man on a boulder, holding a jug of wine and drinking away leisurely.
"Ay, my precious disciple, how could you be so disappointing, losing to a good-for-nothing! You’re really angering your master!" The man muttered and then violently hurled the jug on the ground, creating a loud noise.
Looking at the man with a bearded face and disheveled hair in front of her, Bai Ling frowned and asked, "Who are you, exactly?"
Hearing the woman’s question, the man looked at Bai Ling with disdain and said scornfully, "Who I am is something you’re not qualified to know!"
"I am your senior sister, my name is Su Yueling, what’s your name?"
Bai Ling couldn’t help but feel infuriated by the arrogance of the untidy, bearded man in front of her.
"Su Yueling? Heh... I thought it was someone sent by a major sect. It’s just you."
"What do you mean?" Su Yueling couldn’t help but widen her eyes when she heard this.
"You really are stupid, not even able to see something so obvious."
"Who exactly are you, and why are you treating your junior sister like this!" Su Yueling saw that the scruffy man in front of her didn’t regard her at all, her anger flared sky-high. This guy was just too hateful!
"Heh, Su Yueling, in this world, only one person can be my junior sister, and that is... Liu Zheng!"
"What did you say? Liu Zheng?" Su Yueling’s eyes widened upon hearing this. Wasn’t Liu Zheng the eldest son of the City Lord of the Mo Family? Could it be that this guy was her senior brother? But she clearly remembered not having seen the man before her at the City Lord’s birthday banquet. When did he become her senior brother?
Su Yueling looked at the man with a puzzled expression.
"So, does anyone still think I’m deceiving you?" The man smiled, then plopped himself down on the ground, grabbed the wine jar from the table, and began guzzling wine into his mouth.
Su Yueling eyed the scruffy man in front of her and frowned. Was he really her senior brother? If he wasn’t her senior brother, then her master, who was also his senior brother, why hadn’t her master told her she had another senior brother? Could her master be hiding something from her? At this thought, a trace of sadness appeared in Su Yueling’s eyes. She knew that everything the scruffy man had said was true, but she still couldn’t understand why her father would do such a thing. Wasn’t she his biological daughter, or had he forgotten about her?
Bai Ling’s mind was filled with various thoughts.
At this moment, Liu Zheng emerged from the cave and saw Su Yueling in a daze. He couldn’t help but ask, "What are you thinking about?"
"Ah... nothing, I was just wondering why Master hadn’t introduced me to you," Bai Ling heard Liu Zheng’s voice, came back to her senses, looked at Liu Zheng, and asked.
"It’s better if you don’t inquire too much about Master’s matters," Liu Zheng said upon hearing her words.
Bai Ling frowned at Liu Zheng’s response and asked, "What’s wrong with Master?"
"All you need to know is that Master is doing well."
Seeing curiosity and concern in Bai Ling’s eyes, Liu Zheng didn’t want to say much. He couldn’t possibly tell the girl before him that he was her father’s enemy, could he? But, there was also no need to lie to this young lady. After all, this matter would eventually come out.
After saying this, Liu Zheng prepared to leave the mountain, but Bai Ling suddenly grabbed hold of his sleeve.
"What are you doing!?" Liu Zheng was startled by Bai Ling’s action and quickly looked at her.
"Senior brother, you haven’t told me what’s wrong with Master yet! I really want to know. I’m still your junior sister, you should know that the Bai Family and the Mo Family have always been on good terms. I also want to help Master resolve the feud between the Bai and Mo families."
Liu Zheng’s brows furrowed upon hearing this.
"Don’t meddle in things that aren’t your business. All you need to do is focus on your cultivation. Leave the rest alone."
"But senior brother, you are my senior brother!"
"Alright, I don’t want to talk about this anymore."
Having said that, Liu Zheng shook off his robe and left the place.
Bai Ling watched the retreating figure of the man, her fists clenched tightly. She knew he was unwilling to tell her because he feared she would meddle, but she just couldn’t help herself.
With this thought, Bai Ling chased after Liu Zheng.
"Senior brother, there’s something I want to ask you."
"What is it?"
