Chapter 540: Chapter 539: Just Living Together

"I..."

"It’s okay, no need to say it, I know you don’t like me!"

"Good that you know, right now we’re just cohabiting!" Wang Xiaohua said.

Liu Zheng fell silent for a while before speaking, "Then when will you be willing to marry me?"

"What?" Wang Xiaohua was stunned. She hadn’t expected Liu Zheng to be so direct, so candid.

"Liu Zheng, I know we haven’t spent much time together, and you being a big boss, there must be lots of girls who like you, not to mention you’re a very handsome guy with many admirers."

"I only acknowledge you as my girlfriend!" Liu Zheng stated firmly.

Wang Xiaohua hadn’t anticipated that he would be such a stubborn person.

Not wanting to mislead him, she simply said, "Liu Zheng, don’t get the wrong idea, okay? I really just think of you as a good friend, truly!"

"But you’re a single mother with hardly any job, and taking care of Xiaohua by yourself must be exhausting. I want to help you!" Liu Zheng said.

"Liu Zheng, I can handle my own affairs, really, I’ve already found a new job, and it’s going quite well, so you don’t need to worry," Wang Xiaohua said.

"But I just can’t help but worry about you being all by yourself!" Liu Zheng said.

"But, we were only in a cohabitation relationship before, right?" Wang Xiaohua said.

"But, you’re not married yet, so I still have a chance, right?" Liu Zheng said.

Wang Xiaohua was at a loss for words, leaving him to his own devices.

After a while, she finally asked, "By the way, I heard from your dad that you’re already engaged?"

Liu Zheng nodded.

Wang Xiaohua sighed.

Seeing her reaction, Liu Zheng hastened to say, "Xiaohua, don’t be upset. You’re so beautiful, you’re surely going to meet someone even better in the future!"

"You’re right!" Wang Xiaohua forced a smile.

Seeing her troubled look, Liu Zheng quickly tried to comfort her, "Xiaohua, don’t be sad. One day, when we get married, I will announce to the whole world that you are the woman I love the most, okay?"

Wang Xiaohua smiled, but said nothing.

The next morning, Liu Zheng left.

Wang Xiaohua watched his retreating figure, heaving a deep sigh.

No matter what, he still had feelings for her; it was just that she wasn’t ready to respond yet.

These days, her relationship with her parents had grown increasingly tense, and Wang Xiaohua’s health was deteriorating more and more; she was barely holding on.

She needed more money to buy medicine for her treatment.

Wang Xiaohua knew that if she didn’t leave this place soon, it was very likely she would either die at home or in the streets, never to exist again.

Wang Xiaohua knew she couldn’t refuse Liu Zheng’s affection and could only accept him for the time being.

She planned to go to the nearby supermarket to purchase some essential household goods.

At the entrance of the supermarket.

A silver BMW stopped at the entrance, and the car window slowly rolled down.

Two men and two women sat inside, all around thirty-five years of age. One man wore a black suit and sunglasses, looking very sharp and efficient.

Beside him was a tall young woman in a purple-red business suit with long hair cascading over her shoulders.

Another woman wore a white dress and was very beautiful, but her face bore a detached expression.

Wang Xiaohua walked up and asked, "May I know who you are?"

The woman scanned her coldly and said, "Liu Zheng sent you over, didn’t he?"

"Huh? You know Mr. Liu?" Wang Xiaohua looked at her curiously.

"Not only do I know him, but he also desperately needs your help right now!" the woman said.

"Needs help?" Wang Xiaohua said.

The woman continued, "Yes, needs you, because Liu’s company is about to go under!"

"What?" Wang Xiaohua exclaimed, turning pale.

She stared at the woman in disbelief.

"Don’t be scared, he just needs your help, he doesn’t mean any harm!" the woman in the purple-red business suit said.

"But..."

"Alright, no more hesitating, I know you need money!" the middle-aged man interrupted her.

Wang Xiaohua turned to look at the middle-aged man wearing sunglasses, unable to see his expression.

"Then, may I ask who you are?" Wang Xiaohua said.

The middle-aged man didn’t answer, but instead handed her a business card.

Wang Xiaohua hesitated before taking the card.

"Mr. Liu?" She saw a "General Manager" title on it and immediately realized that the man before her must hold a position like a company director, though she had never met him before.

"Liu Zheng, he’s your fiancé now?" Wang Xiaohua said.

"Yes," the woman in the purple-red business suit nodded.

"Then, where is he now?" Wang Xiaohua asked eagerly.

The middle-aged man said, "He’s already gone."

"Why did he leave? Where did he go?" Wang Xiaohua said.

"I don’t know," the middle-aged man said.

"Then... then why didn’t he tell me?" Wang Xiaohua asked urgently.

The middle-aged man said, "His personal affairs aren’t something I have the right to inquire about."

"Then why do you know?" Wang Xiaohua glared at him.

The middle-aged man said, "I am also his client; naturally, someone will inform me where he went, so that’s how I know. What does this have to do with me?"

"You... You’re all too despicable!" Wang Xiaohua fumed, throwing the business card back into his chest.

The middle-aged man glanced at her and said, "I’m just reminding you not to forget your place. You’re nothing more than a mistress he keeps. You have no right to question him about his affairs!"

Upon hearing this, Wang Xiaohua became extremely angry.

"President Liu, you’ve gone too far. How could you make me your mistress? I must have been blind to have fallen for you," Wang Xiaohua said.

The middle-aged man sneered, "This sort of thing is consensual. Besides, you’re the one who seduced him first; I didn’t force you."

"You, you..."

Wang Xiaohua was so angry she felt like she was going to faint, feeling icy all over.

She turned her head and saw the woman in the purple-red business suit standing beside her with a slight smile on her face.

Wang Xiaohua hurried over, took the woman’s hand, and said, "Sis, thank you so much! You’re incredibly tough!"

"Thank me for what? I’m just doing what I should be doing, no praise necessary."

"Sis, you really are amazing, I should learn from you!" Wang Xiaohua flattered her.

"Haha... No need. You will definitely be better than me in the future," the woman in the purple-red suit laughed.

Wang Xiaohua smiled and said, "Sis, with your experience, you’ll surely be able to help President Liu through his difficulties. When is your contract going to be signed?"

"You really don’t have any sincerity," the woman in the purple-red suit laughed.

"Then, Sis, what would it take to help President Liu through this trouble?" Wang Xiaohua asked eagerly.

The woman in the purple-red suit smiled and said, "We’re businessmen; I don’t like talking about trades. I hope you can do something for me. If you accomplish it, I’ll help you solve this problem!"

"What’s the task? Just tell me, Sis," Wang Xiaohua said.

"Don’t worry that I’ll deceive you. Right now, you just need to find someone and bring him to the apartment. I guarantee that in the meantime, he won’t hurt anyone!" the woman in the purple-red suit said.

"Who are you? How do you know about me?" Wang Xiaohua asked.

"Don’t ask too much. I just want you to bring the person here. As for the reason, I will not disclose it," the woman in the purple-red suit said.

"Oh. Okay," Wang Xiaohua agreed.

"What’s your name?" the woman in the purple-red suit suddenly asked.

"My surname is Wang, and my given name is a single character, Hua!" Wang Xiaohua said.

"Hmm, good. What’s your name?" the woman in the purple-red suit asked again.

"Xiaohua. What about you?" Wang Xiaohua rejoined.

"My name is Liu Yanran. Xiaohua, this time, I’m counting on you!" Liu Yanran said. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Okay, Sis."

Liu Yanran said, "Then I won’t see you off to the airport. Goodbye, and I wish you success!"

"Goodbye!"

Wang Xiaohua said.

Liu Yanran and a few other middle-aged persons entered the elevator and went downstairs.

Watching the elevator doors slowly close, Wang Xiaohua stood there blankly for a while.

"Sis Hua, what’s wrong?" a middle-aged man beside her asked.

"I... I don’t know why, but suddenly I remembered a song which has a beautiful melody, singing of my past," Wang Xiaohua said.

"What song does Sis Hua want to sing?"

"Let’s sing ’You’re a Flower’."

"Alright." The middle-aged man took the microphone and put it to his mouth, beginning to sing.

"This song is very touching, expressing some of my feelings..."

"I remember there used to be two of us together. He was the one I loved the most, my friend. We traveled together, watched sunsets, had candlelit dinners. He was always gentle and caring with me, but then, one day, he suddenly left me, and I cried for a long time, until my mother died in a car accident. That was when I realized I had truly fallen for someone, and that person was Liu Zheng."

"Sis Hua, are you serious about you and Liu Zheng?"

"Yes," Wang Xiaohua nodded.
