Chapter 533: Chapter 532: Buying a Pack of Tissue Paper
Li Yan’er covered her forehead, which had been scraped by the impact, and cursed at a man standing in front of her.
"Little sister, are you okay? Did it hurt when you bumped it?" the man asked with a smile, then handed Li Yan’er a pack of tissues.
Li Yan’er was stunned to see the tissues offered by the man, and her face turned red with embarrassment.
"Thank you!"
As she spoke, she threw the tissues on the ground and turned to leave.
But after just two steps, she stopped again.
"Hey, wait a minute!"
Seeing Li Yan’er suddenly stop, the man asked in confusion, "Little sister, is there something else?"
"Well, could you lend me a hundred bucks? I want to buy a new outfit."
"A hundred bucks? No, that won’t do!"
The man shook his head and said, "I’m almost out of money myself. How about this—I give you three hundred, what do you think?"
"No... no need, even if you lent me three thousand, I couldn’t wear it," Li Yan’er insisted.
"Then how much do you want?"
"A thousand bucks!"
"Isn’t that too much?"
"Just a thousand, please, lend me a thousand."
Seeing Li Yan’er looking so pitiful, the man couldn’t bear to refuse and said, "Alright, take this money and go buy a set of clothes at the nearby supermarket to change into, then I can give you three thousand."
Li Yan’er was taken aback, not expecting the man to be so kind. She took the money, nodded, and then ran towards the nearby supermarket.
At this time, the supermarket had already closed, so, Li Yan’er had to go to the park nearby instead.
With a hundred yuan in hand, she walked toward the park.
By this time, Li Haotian had also caught up and, seeing Li Yan’er like this, he couldn’t help feeling remorseful.
After all, it was he who had pushed her off the carriage.
"Yan’er, I’m sorry!" Li Haotian said, his face showing a touch of embarrassment.
"You don’t have to apologize to me; we’re not even close," Li Yan’er replied.
"Yan’er, don’t be mad anymore. You take a cab; I’ll get going first."
"Fine, you take care too!"
Seeing Li Yan’er unwilling to engage with him, Li Haotian didn’t bother to say more and left.
When Li Yan’er reached the entrance to the park, she found it empty, not a soul in sight. She sighed; it seemed there would be no chance to go to the bar tonight, so she might as well call in sick.
"Dudu dudu dudu..."
Just as Li Yan’er was about to phone home, a pleasant melody began to play.
"Huh?"
Startled by the music, Li Yan’er was surprised because the song was "Little Apple," the very same one she had bought earlier. It was a hit track from her album and her favorite.
She quickly took out her phone and saw an unfamiliar number flashing on the screen, a sense of foreboding rising within her.
"Hello, may I ask who’s calling?" Li Yan’er asked politely after answering the phone.
"Yan’er, where are you?" came a magnetic voice from the other end.
"You... who are you? What do you want with me?" Li Yan’er’s expression darkened upon hearing the man’s words.
"Yan’er, have you really forgotten who I am? I’m your fiancé; we’ve been living under the same roof for such a long time, and you’ve forgotten me?"
"Hmph, nonsensical. I’ve never known you since we were young; how could we possibly be fiancés?" Li Yan’er said coldly.
"I’ve told you, I’m your fiancé, I truly like you, so you must believe me," came another magnetic voice over the phone.
"Get lost, I won’t acknowledge the existence of a fiancé, it’s none of your business!" Li Yan’er snapped coldly.
"Yan’er, I’ve said it before, you can’t escape, I will make you willingly become my wife!" the voice continued.
"Bastard, what the hell do you want to do?" Li Yan’er roared angrily.
"Wait for me, I’ll be there soon." With that, the man hung up the phone.
After hearing the voice on the other end of the phone, Li Yan’er became even more panicked, constantly comforting herself, "It’s okay, he must be lying to you."
And so, Li Yan’er sat by the roadside, waiting for a taxi to take her home.
Time slowly passed by, and the night grew deeper, but Li Yan’er still waited anxiously.
"Yan’er, I’m here."
A deep and magnetic voice arrived, causing Li Yan’er to suddenly lift her head and look towards the source of the voice.
Not far away, a BMW X1 was parked by the side of the road.
The window rolled down, showing a young and handsome face.
"It’s you!"
After seeing the face of the man clearly, Li Yan’er was instantly scared out of her wits.
"Yan’er, get in the car."
The man spoke while reaching out his hand towards Li Yan’er.
"Get lost, don’t touch me!"
Looking at the unfamiliar man, Li Yan’er couldn’t help but shout loudly, then turned around and fled like a wounded rabbit.
"Yan’er!"
Watching the girl flee in panic, a hint of helplessness appeared on the man’s face; he shook his head and then started the car.
"Rumble~"
The car roared towards Li Yan’er but unfortunately, she had already hidden herself among the crowd.
"Yan’er, don’t run, get in the car quickly, there are too many people here."
The man chased after Li Yan’er while shouting.
Li Yan’er ran desperately, she didn’t know why this strange man kept harassing her, but she was certain that he meant no good.
"Ah!"
Just as she was thinking about how to shake off the stranger, a scream rang out.
Li Yan’er looked in the direction of the scream and was shocked to find the man who had been pursuing her lying on the ground, clutching his arm, his face pale, and his body trembling.
Seeing him like this, Li Yan’er’s mind involuntarily flashed to the scene where she was forcefully pulled into the car, and she began to feel scared.
"Get in the car, or I will call the police to catch you!" the stranger threatened coldly.
"Call the police?" Li Yan’er was stunned for a moment, dared not take another step forward, and had to obediently sit in the car.
"Drive," the stranger ordered indifferently.
"Yes, boss," the driver replied respectfully and then started the car.
Li Yan’er glanced at the man beside her, her cheeks slightly red. Although she didn’t know this man, she felt he was dangerous and even carried a menacing aura that sent shivers down her spine.
However, she had no way out now and could only pray that he wouldn’t hurt her.
Li Yan’er sat in the passenger seat, gazing at the scenery flying by outside, her expression becoming dazed. All she could think about was what the stranger had just said. Was he really her fiancé?
She recalled what her parents had told her, that they wanted her to marry into a wealthy family, but she didn’t like that kind of opulence, so she rejected their proposal. Yet, she never expected that her father would arrange for her to be kidnapped, forcing her to marry a man she didn’t like at all.
Just then, Li Yan’er suddenly felt hungry, she touched her stomach, and then glanced at the man beside her.
"Have you eaten yet?" Li Yan’er tentatively asked.
"I..."
