Chapter 508: Chapter 507: Creak
Hearing Su Yuxin’s words, Liu Zheng’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly explained:
"It’s not... What I mean is, I... I just didn’t want you to misunderstand."
"Didn’t want me to misunderstand? Then why did you turn off my phone, why didn’t you want to see me? Do I really mean so little to you?"
Su Yuxin stared at Liu Zheng and said coldly.
"I... I was working."
"Working? Hmph..."
"I don’t believe it! If you really turned off my phone just because of work, then I can give you time, we can meet once a week, once every two months, three or four years, even five or six years, but, if I find out you have another woman, then, I will make you pay!"
Su Yuxin threatened coldly.
"You..."
At Su Yuxin’s threat, Liu Zheng was suddenly at a loss for words.
What Su Yuxin said was true; if there really were other men, then he would certainly face retribution.
"I... I..."
He stuttered, unsure of how to respond.
"What ’I’! What are you standing there for!?"
Seeing Liu Zheng hesitating, a look of disgust flashed in Su Yuxin’s eyes, and she pointed at Liu Zheng and scolded.
"I... I understand."
Having said that, Liu Zheng turned and left.
After he left, Su Yuxin snorted coldly.
"Hmph! Stupid man, just wait and see!"
...
All day long, Chen Fei’er was restless.
She sat in the shop for a long time, but she never dared to go out.
"Do I really have to go find Lin Xueqing?"
"I can’t not go... I’ve missed too much already."
"Even if I do go to her, I have to clear this up!"
Chen Fei’er thought to herself. Then, she took out her phone from her bag and dialed Lin Xueqing’s number.
The phone rang for a few seconds and then connected.
"Hello, Xueqing, it’s me! Are you at home?"
"Yes, I am."
"Can you do me a favor?"
"Fei’er, just tell me what it is. As long as I can manage it, I will do my utmost."
Hearing Lin Xueqing’s words, Chen Fei’er took a deep breath and then said, "It’s like this, I have a friend whose husband cheated. Can you help me investigate his information?"
"Yeah, that’s easy!"
"I’ll send it to you now, and then we can get in touch in a while."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Chen Fei’er’s mouth curved into a faint smile.
...
"Hello, is this Lin Xueqing?"
"Yes, it’s me!"
"Um, my name is Chen Fei’er, I’m Lin Xueqing’s classmate, how about I treat you to dinner tonight?"
"Okay."
...
Half an hour later, Su Yuxin received a message from Chen Fei’er. She immediately opened the text and began to read it carefully.
After reading the contents of the message, Su Yuxin’s mouth curled into a sly smile.
"So that’s how it is!"
...
In the evening, Chen Fei’er and Lin Xueqing were ready to go out for dinner.
But just as they had stepped out of the shop, they were stopped by two men in black suits who blocked their way.
"Excuse me, do you two have a reservation?"
"We don’t, please step aside."
"Sorry! This shop is privately owned. We do not welcome strangers to come and go, so please go back."
The two bodyguards spoke emotionlessly.
Hearing the words of the bodyguards, Chen Fei’er frowned slightly.
"Who are you?"
Chen Fei’er asked in a stern voice.
Although her family was not wealthy, she had grown up with a good education.
She occasionally encountered some difficulties at work, but she had never met such a forceful attitude before.
Annoyance instantly flared in her heart.
"I’m sorry, but we cannot disclose that. Please cooperate, or we will have to ask you to leave," one of the bodyguards said.
"How dare you! On what grounds do you have to force us out?" Chen Fei’er angrily retorted, pointing at one of the bodyguards.
"I would advise you not to anger me, or you will regret it!" she threatened.
But the bodyguard looked back at Chen Fei’er without fear, his tone resolute.
"Hmph!"
Seeing the bodyguard’s demeanor, Chen Fei’er’s expression turned to one of icy coldness.
"If that’s the case, then we’ll have to call our lawyer!"
"We welcome the challenge!" The bodyguard wore a mocking smile.
Hearing the bodyguard’s words, Chen Fei’er felt a surge of frustration.
"Call a lawyer then! You just wait!" she exclaimed.
After saying this, she took out her mobile phone to call a lawyer.
But to Chen Fei’er’s surprise, right after she finished the call, a man wearing a duckbill cap walked in.
Upon seeing the man with the duckbill cap, Chen Fei’er’s eyelids involuntarily twitched, sensing an imposing aura about him.
Her gaze fell on the man, and she asked, "Excuse me, is this the lawyers’ association?"
"This is a private club," the man in the duckbill cap responded coldly, then lifted his head to glance at the counter. His gaze eventually settled on Lin Xueqing.
"Who are you to her?" he asked.
"I..." Chen Fei’er was momentarily taken aback.
She had not expected the man in the duckbill cap to directly inquire about Lin Xueqing’s identity, and it seemed as if he was very familiar with Lin Xueqing.
"I’m her boyfriend," Chen Fei’er said through gritted teeth.
"Boyfriend?" The man in the duckbill cap seemed taken aback upon hearing Chen Fei’er’s claim.
He scrutinized Chen Fei’er, then shook his head and said, "Unlikely, but then, I don’t know how else to address you."
"I..." Chen Fei’er was about to say she was Lin Xueqing’s best friend, but on second thought, revealing her own name might arouse more suspicion.
So, Chen Fei’er decided to keep her surname hidden for now.
"Nice to meet you, I’m Chen Fei’er. May I ask for your honorable surname?" she inquired.
With a smile, the man in the duckbill cap said, "No need for formalities. My surname is Chen."
"Oh, Mr. Chen, do you by any chance have time tonight? Let’s have a drink together," she proposed.
"I’m not free tonight!"
Chen Fei’er wanted to continue speaking, but she was interrupted by the sudden ring of her phone.
"Fei’er, weren’t we supposed to have dinner together? Why are you backing out now?"
Hearing the ringtone, Chen Fei’er frowned slightly.
She glanced at Lin Xueqing, then spoke to the person on the other end of the phone, "I’m sorry, something’s come up. Let’s reschedule."
With that, Chen Fei’er quickly ended the call.
"I..."
Chen Fei’er opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words.
She looked apologetically at Lin Xueqing and said, "Xueqing, I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I can’t go to dinner with you today. Why don’t you go somewhere else?"
"It’s okay, you go ahead," Lin Xueqing responded with a faint smile.
"Alright, then I’m leaving now. Bye!"
After saying this, Chen Fei’er stepped away and left.
Watching Chen Fei’er’s retreating figure, a glint of cold light flashed in Lin Xueqing’s eyes.
Her gaze turned to the bodyguards nearby.
"Follow her and see what she’s up to!"
