Chapter 457: Chapter 457 Temporarily Stable
Liu Zheng could not yet determine the cause, but he knew one thing for certain—he must stop the convulsions Jia Xin was currently experiencing. If these symptoms were not alleviated, they would pose a significant threat to Liu Jiaxin’s wellbeing.
It seemed as though it was the first time Liu Zheng had seen Jia Xin in such a state, despite knowing her for so many years. He bent down and pressed his ear tightly against Jia Xin’s nose and lips.
He listened carefully, but could not discern any serious issues.
"Jia Xin, Jia Xin, can you hear me speaking? Jia Xin."
He gently shook Liu Jiaxin’s body, but found that besides the overall convulsions, her teeth were also clenched tightly, and her eyes firmly shut. It appeared that she had no sensation of any external disturbances.
Liu Zheng then took out his emergency kit and from it, retrieved a bottle of medicinal oil. He applied the oil on his hands and massaged gently around Liu Jiaxin’s temples.
However, up to this point, it seemed that the convulsions had not been stopped. He could only feel that her body had relaxed significantly, but the spasms continued without cessation.
After that, he extended his hand again to the medical kit and pulled out several long silver needles. Since convulsions were definitely caused by brain nerves, he thought that whether it was about treating the symptoms or the root cause, he must start with the brain nerves to truly understand what was going on.
After providing urgent aid for a while, Liu Zheng then slowly noticed that Liu Jiaxin’s body was beginning to stiffen, but the convulsive feeling was gradually subsiding.
"Master, my sister has stopped convulsing. What should we do next? But, I feel that her body is very cold and has completely stiffened."
"So, this is not the same convulsions we usually understand. I want to ask, what did she eat today? And were you with her during the meal? Did she say anything before the onset of the illness?"
"Currently, we live and eat on the construction site, and our meals are all ordered from outside. Basically, everyone eats the same meals. Earlier, we were looking at some construction plans together when she suddenly told me she felt numbness in her head. Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly collapsed to the ground and began convulsing."
"I see. Okay, arrange for a few people to carry her and bring her to the infirmary, then I’ll figure out how to treat her further. The conditions here are too harsh, and I can’t make a direct judgment."
"Sure, that’s no problem, Doctor Liu. But, Jia Xin... She won’t have any problems, right? Why would she suddenly end up like this? She’s always been healthy, hasn’t she?"
"We can’t judge her current condition by her past anymore. Everything will be assessed once we get back to the clinic. Now, have people gently carry her back for me, and the rest is up to me to resolve. The construction schedule must proceed as planned—don’t let her absence delay the progress, understood?"
"Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on the construction site. After Jia Xin has been sent back for some rest, I’ll visit her tonight if there’s time. You, you, and you, yes, the four of you, carry Jia Xin straight to the clinic. Remember, be careful on the way there, and make sure there are no accidents."
The foreman just issued instructions, and soon he had several people step forward. They bent down, lifted her up, and then followed Liu Yang and Liu Zheng away from the construction site.
"Elder, come quickly and look."
After all, the patient was Liu Jiaxin’s grandfather, so upon returning to the clinic, Liu Zheng first called out to him. At that moment, the elderly man was sitting behind the counter, handling several Chinese herbs, deeply immersed in thought.
When he saw a group of people carrying someone in, he immediately sensed that something was wrong, stood up, and looked inside. He instantly recognized that the person they were carrying was his granddaughter.
"Jia Xin, what’s wrong with Jia Xin? Jia Xin, wake up."
The elder approached and gently pushed her body but found no response. He placed his hand on her pulse and slightly closed his eyes, meticulously sensing her condition,
"The pulse and nerve activity are all normal, as well as the blood flow—which isn’t rapid or slow. All this seems no different from a normal person, but what puzzles me is why her body temperature is so low, and why it has become stiff. That’s right, what was the condition of Jia Xin when you were leaving?"
"When we arrived, we just saw her lying on the ground, stiff and convulsing non-stop. Her jaws were clenched, and her eyes shut. I tried to communicate with her, but she had already fallen into an unconscious state."
"This is bad, why does this sound so much like that condition?"
As the elder spoke, he furrowed his brows, contemplating a picture in his mind, yet he couldn’t decipher what it signified.
"What do you mean? What’s bad? Have you seen her symptoms before?"
"Many years ago, I encountered such a case, but from what I see now, it doesn’t seem as straightforward as I thought."
"What do you mean? I don’t quite understand, elder. Can you please clarify?"
"I’m pretty certain now that Jia Xin must have been poisoned by some toxin, but that shouldn’t be the case—how could she just suddenly get poisoned?"
