Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Village Chief Yang’s Family Background

Liu Zheng could understand the calculation behind their actions, but upon hearing all this, he could only helplessly shake his head. He felt that these people were just too ignorant, blindly being used by others, without a clear understanding of what had actually happened.

"I, Liu Zheng, in the name of a respected village head, assure you here that the employment opportunities for both villages will be completely equal. Moreover, if you really want to seize this opportunity, I guarantee that your family members will be able to work well in this factory," he promised.

"Additionally, why do you think I chose to build this factory at the border between the two villages? The purpose is to make it convenient for either village. You could go and check, doesn’t our village have vacant land to the east? That area is quite spacious and even has better conditions. Why didn’t I choose that? It’s because that place is somewhat distant from your village, and I worry about your commute to and from work being problematic. Do you understand?"

"Oh, you sure make it sound nice, as if everything you do is for our benefit. So, you mean to say we should be thanking you, right? But after you say all this, we’ll just listen and nothing more, because this will never become reality," they retorted.

"I have a clinic here, and I believe most of you have visited it. You should be clear about my medical skills and character. If I really wanted to get rich, I could have done so a long time ago. Every time you come for a consultation, how much I charge you—you do have some idea, don’t you?" he questioned.

In fact, what Liu Zheng said was true. He had always treated the villagers from both places equally, only charging a simple cost that would cover his normal expenses, without ever taking a cent more.

He noticed that among those who were speaking with him, there were only two or three younger people, dyed with blond hair, looking defiant. He guessed they were likely the field commanders for this situation.

Then, he turned to look at the contractor and a puzzled Liu Jiaxin standing beside him. Finally, he signaled them, and the three of them quietly moved to one side.

"The purpose of what I said earlier was to make them understand our stance and goals. Secondly, I wanted to identify their on-site leader. Now that I have, do you see those three squatting over there playing cards? Yes, those three young people. They are likely the organizers of this event. Thus, we need to capture the king first; we must immediately take down that person," he explained.

"But is it really something you can control just because you want to? Yesterday, I also noticed something was off about those three, but I feel like blindly trying to take control might lead to a large-scale conflict, which would make things even harder to settle, don’t you think?" Jia Xin expressed concerns.

"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of this. You just wait here, and then I’ll go and have a good talk with these three young men to find out who’s really pulling the strings behind all this," he reassured.

"Are you saying that solving the issue with these three young men means all the remaining troubles can be resolved? It seems to me that things aren’t as simple as we imagine. Could there be other underlying issues?" she inquired.

"Jia Xin, let me tell you, these villagers don’t have that many concerns; they’re simply being manipulated by someone. Understand? So, the situation definitely isn’t that complicated. It’s a simple problem that we just haven’t addressed before," he clarified.

"So, you mean you can handle those three young men? Does that mean the matter can truly be settled?" she asked again.

"Definitely not, there must be a bigger tiger behind these three young men. I’m telling you, it’s probably Village Chief Yang from the neighboring village," he speculated.

"That old fox, I’ve heard of his reputation before, and he’s quite malicious. Over these years, he hasn’t done any good as village chief," she commented.

"The contractor seemed to have been bullied by them and always speaks through gritted teeth," Liu Zheng observed.

"It sounds like you know quite a bit about Village Chief Yang and his situation. You know what, despite having lived here for so long, I’ve never really paid attention to these matters," Liu Zheng said.

"Know a lot? Not necessarily, but I do know about his character and some details about his family. I understand it all, let me tell you. In their family, just he is a bad egg; his son, daughter-in-law, and wife are all very reasonable people," she explained.

"Oh? You’re saying that his son is also very reasonable?" he asked.

"Absolutely, very reasonable. I’ve dealt with him before. Currently, his son is also the village accountant, so, actually, a lot of what his son says isn’t completely dictated by his father," she revealed.

"Then I understand the situation. If that’s the case, we should be able to handle this matter more easily. Alright, wait there for me. It won’t take too long; I’ll be able to settle this quickly," he said confidently.

"Village Chief, do you want me to arrange for a few brothers to go with you? Those three kids look like troublemakers, and if it really comes to a fight, with more people on our side, we won’t be at a disadvantage, right?" the contractor offered.

"Rest assured, I won’t need to resort to violence when I’m here, and I’m not afraid of them in the slightest. I can handle this without any issue. So, you don’t need to worry. Besides, it’s only a distance of about twenty meters. If you see us fighting, then send over some men at that time; it won’t be too late," he ensured.

"Alright, I’ll arrange for some men to stand by just in case," the contractor agreed.

Because the contractor had received Liu Zheng’s help, he was completely accommodating in his manner of speaking and willing to align with the village chief’s stance. Moreover, he hoped to secure some additional projects from the village in the future.

Regardless, Liu Zheng could sense that Liu Jiaxin was still full of concern towards the current situation, but there was no helping it. At this stage, he simply couldn’t offer her complete assurance.
