Chapter 412: Chapter 412 Slight Brain Infarction
"That’s right, that’s what I mean, the toxicity isn’t particularly strong, just a very gentle sort of poison. Hold on, I’ve just thought of something."
As Liu Zheng muttered to himself, he suddenly turned his head as if a scene from a few days prior flashed through his mind—in the village, indeed, there had been some cases of poisoning.
Their bodies had certainly been tainted with a toxin, but it wasn’t very potent.
Now, within this old lady’s body, that same toxin has appeared, equally mild. Yet, when combined with some substance from the outside world, it elicited such a strong reaction. Perhaps, the one who administered the poison did not anticipate all of this happening today.
"What did you think of, Master?"
"Oh, nothing much, perhaps I’m overthinking it. These incidents probably don’t have much essential connection to each other, but I now have the antidote. It’s just that I’m not clear on how this old lady managed to ingest this poison."
"Master, what kind of poison is it, exactly? Why can it survive in the body for such a long time? Half a year’s time, and it hasn’t been expelled by us? Furthermore, it continues to regenerate?"
"This substance is similar to the cells in the human body and has already become tightly integrated with them. So as long as the cells divide, it proliferates along with them, and the proportion of spread is more or less by chance."
"Such a cunning virus. My grandfather was always researching how to conquer this kind of virus, but never imagined that one day the virus would come knocking on our door."
"Where there’s someone to create an antidote, naturally, there will be someone to concoct a poison. The world has always been this way—if there were no creators of poison, then from where would the makers of antidotes arise? So, we don’t need to think too much about it; we only need to figure out how to defeat this virus."
"Master, does that mean you now know what the antidote is?"
"Exactly, I do know now. Give me another hour, and I should be able to prepare the antidote immediately. Alright, it’s getting late, and since we’ve basically made some headway, you should go back to bed and get some proper sleep. Otherwise, you’ll be exhausted all day tomorrow—no, not tomorrow, today."
While talking, Liu Zheng looked up to check the time. It was already 5:00 in the morning. In another hour or two, it would be completely light out.
Many hadn’t rested during the entire day and night, but if Liu Yang hadn’t been there to assist, perhaps his progress in developing the antidote wouldn’t have been as smooth as it was now.
At 6:30 in the morning, Liu Zheng was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on his door, so he put aside what he was holding and went to open it.
"Doctor Liu, you—quick, take a look at me. I have a severe headache; it’s been hurting since last night. I thought about coming over in the middle of the night, but didn’t want to move. I held out until now."
A villager hurried in. Liu Zheng simply looked up and saw that his face was a bit pale, and his eyes were dark-circled. Clearly, he hadn’t rested well the previous night.
"When did you start feeling the headache? Which part hurts? How does it hurt—is it continuous, intermittent, or more like a neuralgic jumping pain? Describe it to me in detail."
"It’s right here. It started last night before I went to sleep. At first, it was a throbbing pain, but it developed into a constant one, and the pain gradually intensified."
"During this process, did you experience any vomiting? Or feeling nauseous? Any fever, or other symptoms?"
"I did throw up once in between, but not much. I didn’t eat a lot for dinner because I haven’t been feeling well these past few days, so I’ve been eating less and only things that are easy to digest."
"When you threw up, was it projectile vomiting or some other kind? And in the past few days, have you had any alcohol? You said you’ve had a poor appetite—is it because you’ve been drinking recently?"
For a middle-aged man like him, the appearance of cerebrovascular disease is often related to three main factors: heavy drinking, staying up late, and smoking. If none of these factors were present, then he would need to consider other possible health issues.
"Right, I’ve been drinking heavily for a week, getting drunk every night until past midnight. I wasn’t feeling quite right those days, so I stopped for a few days, and now this feeling has started again."
"Liu Yang, Liu Yang!"
Speaking, Liu Zheng called out into the interior, and at this, Liu Yang suddenly sprang from the bed.
Although he had slept only a little over an hour, for him, that should have sufficed in terms of time.
After all, being young, he had more energy. Moreover, at Liu Zheng’s age, sometimes not sleeping for two days and nights would likely not affect him in the slightest.
"Master, what’s the matter?"
He came out of the room in a panic and then saw that a patient was sitting in front of him. His complexion indeed looked rather unwell.
"I suspect he may have a slight cerebral infarction, but the symptoms are not very pronounced, so everything should still be manageable. Go to my room, get the box of silver needles, and bring it here. Now, I’ll try acupuncture on him. There’s still a chance at this moment."
"Alright, I understand, Master. I’ll go right away."
As he spoke, he hurried back to the room and quickly brought out all his tools.
"Now close your eyes and don’t think about anything. I’ll put some needles in your head and then try to gently manipulate them to disperse the blood. Only by dispersing the blood can we alleviate your pain. Currently, it’s high blood pressure causing a blockage here. Do you understand?"
"Alright, just do whatever you think needs to be done," the patient responded.
