Chapter 393: Chapter 393: Does the virus originate from abroad?
"In this regard, I can provide you with some clues. The virus originally came from a foreign pharmaceutical research institution. This institution has very, very little cooperation with our domestic counterparts. If you collect some information, then you should be able to figure out their partners."
"Even if we find the partners, what does that prove? Could we really show that the partners brought in this virus from them back then? I don’t think it’s necessarily the case."
"You’re wrong. The way this institution chooses its partners is very, very special. Under normal circumstances, they absolutely wouldn’t collaborate with just anyone. So in this case, you can only be in a long-term and very stable partnership with them before there’s a chance they’ll provide you with this virus."
"I understand now. I will research this matter more carefully and slowly. Dr. Wang, I am very grateful to you for providing me with so many clues. Otherwise, if I had to investigate on my own, it seems I would have encountered some really troublesome issues."
"It’s okay. You got what you wanted from me, and likewise, I can also get what I want from you. So, this is inherently mutual, and you don’t need to be so polite. That’s settled, then. Give me the address, and I’ll request instructions from your hospital first thing tomorrow. Then, I must hurry, for I can’t let this virus wreak havoc and harm more humans."
Liu Zheng just nodded silently. He felt that Dr. Wang seemed to be a very upright person. Although they had had professional disagreements before, he merely believed such disputes were temporary and that ultimately their ultimate goals and their long-term interests were aligned.
It must be said that Liu Yang truly had a caring heart. Liu Zheng had only reminded him a few sentences the night before, yet unexpectedly, at 6 o’clock in the morning, even before Liu Zheng had gotten out of bed, he heard a knock at the door.
"You’re quite early. I thought you wouldn’t be here until after 7 o’clock."
"Master, didn’t you say that there was an important matter to attend to today? That’s why I rushed over early. Moreover, I have not had the habit of sleeping in for many years. It was just last night that I stayed up looking after the child’s condition, so I felt a bit sleepy."
"Good. Maintaining such an early to bed and early to rise habit is indeed very good. Now that you’re here, I’ll hurry up and arrange other matters. I still have to go to the village committee to explain today’s routine tasks. Then, I will head directly to town. For today, I’ll leave the clinic in your hands. You remember all that I had to give you yesterday, right?"
"Don’t worry, master. I’ll only deal with the symptoms I can handle myself. For emergencies and those beyond my capability, I will arrange for them to be treated at the hospital."
"Alright. If that’s the case, you all stay here and guard the clinic. If anything comes up, we can communicate by phone at any time. That’s it."
After finishing his speech, he stood up and headed to the village committee. Then, he simply went through the things that needed to be prepared that day. The village committee was now just waiting for a final result. Until then, there was really nothing he could do.
Liu Zheng arrived in town early.
The meeting place he had agreed upon with Liu Jiaxin was at a breakfast shop. Upon arrival, it was just 8 a.m., and since he hadn’t had breakfast yet, he decided to meet there.
"Come on in, I’ve already ordered for you."
Before entering the restaurant, he suddenly heard a woman’s voice. Glancing inside, he didn’t expect to find Jia Xin already waiting for him.
"You’re quite early, I thought you wouldn’t arrive until after eight or nine."
"How could that be? It’s an appointment, after all, and these matters are very urgent. Besides, today I still have to formally discuss the factory investment with Mayor Liu. If everything goes through without a hitch on his end, our construction team will start moving into the village tomorrow."
"That’s great! You’re really quick. I thought it would take some time, but it seems I worried for nothing."
"Isn’t that just you worrying for nothing? There was never a big issue, really. Investing in a factory in the village is not as complicated as we imagined. Come on, let’s hurry up and eat. After we finish, we’ll go straight to Mayor Liu’s place. I’ve already called him, saying that I found a young doctor, to see if we can help him out."
"By the way, while eating, could you briefly tell me how long his mother has been like this and what her specific symptoms are?"
"What the specific symptoms are, honestly, I don’t really know. I only know they have been dealing with this for nearly half a year. I am aware that Mayor Liu has not been working normally these past six months, taking his mother around to see various doctors, but apparently, no one could truly treat her."
"That’s really troublesome. I am concerned that my medical abilities are limited, so I basically don’t know where to begin."
"I guess it’s up to your fate now. It feels as if something in destiny is guiding us, and if we can resolve this smoothly, I believe Mayor Liu’s matter will definitely be settled. No need for further options. Moreover, you are a versatile talent, and I believe Mayor Liu appreciates such talent as well."
Liu Zheng didn’t continue speaking. He just nodded. In his mind, he was continuously thinking about where to start once they met.
The key issue was that he still didn’t know what the specific symptoms were. Only after knowing the symptoms would he be able to understand what his specific treatment plan might look like.
After the two ate breakfast there, even though it was not too late, they directly drove to Mayor Liu’s home.
It was a detached two-story courtyard house. From the looks of it, it seemed to be self-built. From the outside, it didn’t look extravagant; it felt like an ordinary residence and didn’t even compare with the surrounding apartment buildings.
