Chapter 275: Chapter 275 All the Truth
Little did the old woman know that she still appeared to be in great pain inside the clinic.
However, it had to be said that after she took the medication and a while passed, she truly felt some relief from the symptoms she was experiencing before.
Initially, after she had taken the medication the person gave her, she felt extremely uncomfortable.
When she had first arrived at Liu Zheng’s doorstep, she was indeed in severe discomfort and pain.
But she had never imagined that Liu Zheng’s medical skills were so superb, that in just a short time after taking the medicine, she experienced such great relief, feeling as if all the previous adverse symptoms had disappeared entirely.
No wonder his business was doing so well.
It turned out he was truly skilled.
Now though, she couldn’t afford to think too much, as her task was not yet finished, which meant she wouldn’t be able to receive the money that was to follow.
Not to mention, there was no telling what that man might do to her.
So how could she possibly have no panic in her heart at this moment?
Right now, she also had no idea what she should do.
How could this not be a huge challenge for her?
At this moment, she was also seriously considering what she should do next, how she should approach and resolve the situation?
Only after an unknown amount of time did she realize that she could finally speak and move.
She immediately stood up, only for her legs to go numb instantly.
It was probably because she had maintained the same position for so long, and, considering her old age, it was certain her legs would go numb.
Finally, after recuperating for a while, she then spoke to Liu Zheng.
"What exactly did you give me? How could it make me unable to speak or move!"
Hearing this, Liu Zheng slowly turned his head to look at her and spoke lightly.
"Aren’t you able to speak and move now?"
Upon hearing this, the old woman in front of him opened her mouth, but in the end, she could not utter a word; she truly didn’t know how to argue back and feared that her intentions might be exposed.
From the beginning, Liu Zheng did not know what the old woman was thinking, nor did he know what she intended to do.
But after observing her for a while, he had figured it out, he knew what was going on.
The symptoms that the old woman was exhibiting were too strange; although they indeed resembled those of a fever lasting several days, there were other symptoms present as well.
All of this was indeed a bit odd.
Moreover, he had argued fiercely with her before, and now she had come to him out of the blue, which made him very surprised.
He always felt she was up to no good.
Now it seemed this was really the case.
He had finally figured out that she must have taken some sort of medication before, a medication that could indeed have such an effect.
But if he had actually prescribed her medication for a fever, she would have gone into shock upon taking it.
Looking at her, she seemed to be completely unaware of this.
Luckily, he had perfectly avoided this from the start and had given her a different medication instead.
Otherwise, the adverse interaction between the two medications might very well have cost her life.
Seeing the old woman still looking so anxious, Liu Zheng was even more certain that someone must have instructed her to do something, otherwise, she wouldn’t act in such a way.
She couldn’t possibly get her hands on such medicine.
As the old woman kept ranting incessantly,
Liu Zheng then slowly broke his silence.
"I advise you to stop working for them, they clearly don’t cherish your life at all," he said.
Upon hearing Liu Zheng’s words, a trace of disbelief blossomed in the old woman’s eyes. She had never imagined that Liu Zheng would guess the truth so quickly.
She had wanted to argue back, but opening her mouth, in the end, she found herself unable to utter a single word.
Faced with this situation, she truly didn’t know what she should say.
She didn’t even know how Liu Zheng had figured it out, as she thought she had hidden everything so well, almost leaving no traces for others to detect.
After a while, she took a deep breath and finally asked,
"How did you figure it out?"
The person in front of her obviously couldn’t hide anything from her anymore, so he immediately responded,
"Do you even know what kind of medicine they’ve been feeding you? You just take it without a second thought?"
"If I had given you medicine based on the symptoms of a fever just now and you had taken it, you likely would have lost your life," he added.
After hearing this, a look of disbelief appeared in the old woman’s eyes, and she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
She was tremendously shocked by this revelation and had never considered such a possibility.
Blinded by money at the time, she now hesitated after hearing his words, unsure whether to believe everything he was saying.
What if he was also deceiving her?
That indeed was a possibility.
Therefore, at this moment, she was somewhat wary, uncertain whether to trust what Liu Zheng was saying.
How could Liu Zheng fail to see that she seemed somewhat unconvinced?
He could understand that.
So quickly, he raised his hand towards her.
"Give me your remaining pills," he said.
Seeing that the old woman still stood frozen in place, not moving, he spoke again.
"The pill that they gave you, hand it to me," he insisted.
Although the old woman truly had many doubts in her mind and didn’t know how to explain them, faced with this situation, she indeed wanted to know the truth of the matter.
So quickly, she took out such a pill from her pocket and handed it to Liu Zheng.
Liu Zheng then seemingly pulled a small mouse out of nowhere and said to the old woman,
"I know you don’t believe me, but now watch closely and see who is lying to you, who is telling the truth, and who is speaking falsehoods," he said.
Having said this, he immediately fed the pill to the small mouse.
Then, he took out a specific medicine meant for fevers and gently shook it in front of the old woman.
"You’ve lived most of your life, you should know that this medicine is for treating fever, right?" he asked.
The old woman nodded somewhat blankly.
And quickly, Liu Zheng fed the fever medicine to the small mouse once again.
