"Why are you here?"

"Oh, let’s not talk about that. Today I went out to buy some of your son’s favorite foods, made a lot of vegetarian dishes just for him, and also made a little for you. I thought I might as well bring them over now."
After she finished speaking, she put all the food she had made on the table next to her.
But wasn’t it a bit inappropriate to bring things over now?
Mainly because it was already late at night; he could have taken them tomorrow morning.
Usually, she should be asleep by this time, shouldn’t she?
