Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Elope with Me
Liu Zheng looked anxiously at Yang Jing, trying to explain his plans.
He knew if he didn’t make himself clear, their relationship might end right there.
"Yang Jing, I’m really serious. I’m not making excuses. I’ve always been thinking about our future, and these plans are the decisions I’ve made for our shared goals,"
Liu Zheng tried to calm his voice.
Yang Jing looked at Liu Zheng with a mocking expression, filled with distrust. Determination radiated from her face, resolved to leave this jerk behind.
"Liu Zheng, do you think I would believe you? You’re always making excuses for yourself, and I’ve had enough. You say you want to start a pharmaceutical factory, you say you want to grow medicinal herbs, all of which are just excuses for you to shirk responsibility!"
Yang Jing’s tone was filled with dissatisfaction and anger towards Liu Zheng.
Liu Zheng took a deep breath, trying to quell the anxiety within.
He knew he had to explain himself quickly, or he wouldn’t get another chance.
"Yang Jing, you must trust me. If we’re together in the future, there will be a good outcome, won’t there? A life not confined to this small traditional medicine clinic. I want to provide you with a better environment, better living conditions,"
Liu Zheng nearly looked at Yang Jing with tears brimming in his eyes.
Yang Jing, while listening to Liu Zheng’s explanation, couldn’t help but feel a flicker of doubt.
She knew she had loved Liu Zheng deeply last night, but the man before her had become so alien now.
She shook her head, trying to put her emotions away.
"Liu Zheng, last night’s love has turned into the past. I can’t trust your promises anymore. We’ve reached the end; there’s no need to go on."
Yang Jing’s voice carried a tinge of helplessness and sadness.
Liu Zheng watched Yang Jing’s retreating figure, his heart full of loss and helplessness.
He knew his plans had not won Yang Jing’s approval, and there was no chance to salvage their relationship.
"Yang Jing, I really have been working hard for our future. I hope you understand. Regardless, I wish you can find a better person and a better life,"
Liu Zheng’s voice revealed an indescribable sadness.
Yang Jing didn’t look back; she had decided to leave the traditional medicine clinic, to leave behind a love that was once beautiful but now shattered. She took a deep breath and walked forward without looking back.
Liu Zheng stood alone at the clinic’s entrance, watching Yang Jing’s figure disappear into the distance.
His heart was filled with regret and helplessness. He knew that not even the ideal substitute he met under the moonlight or his feelings for Yang Jing, which had grown to surpass those he had for Li Yanling just the day before yesterday, mattered anymore.
"Perhaps, this is fate,"
Liu Zheng murmured to himself. He quietly set aside his plans, gazing into the distance, his mind swirling with endless thoughts and regrets.
Although Yang Jing had left, she still looked back to see if Liu Zheng would come after her, but whether it was due to a lack of courage or will, he didn’t chase her. Yet she still held out hope, wishing Liu Zheng would come to her home and ask for reconciliation, giving her a chance to step down gracefully...
But Liu Zheng had no intention of chasing after Yang Jing. Yang Jing’s love was too fiery, while he was not that passionate a person. Instead, he was exceedingly rational, so he chose the forest over a single great tree.
As expected, he didn’t go, and Yang Jing waited all day for the lover she desired but never showed. Therefore, after saying goodbye to her mother, she left for the city.
Before she left, Yang Jing took one last look at Liu Zheng’s door because she had sent him a WeChat message, telling him she was leaving today to see if they could meet one last time.
The night before, she opened WeChat and began to write a deeply affectionate message: "Dear Liu Zheng, I know you are dedicated to your career, but I can no longer tolerate this life. I can’t stand the indifferent city and the pressure it puts on our relationship. I want to escape all this with you and live a simple and happy life in a quiet place."
She continued: "Liu Zheng, you are the most important person in my life, and I am willing to give up everything for our future. In a small rural cottage, we can be self-sufficient, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of nature. As a traditional medicine doctor, you can open a clinic here to help those in need. Together we can work hard to create our own happiness."
Having sent the message of confession, Yang Jing eagerly awaited Liu Zheng’s response. She knew it was a difficult choice, but she was willing to take the risk for their love.
But instead of Liu Zheng coming to hold her back, another woman came out.
This person was none other than Liu Zheng’s actual girlfriend, Li Yanling.
Yang Jing was stunned. She had not expected Li Yanling to appear suddenly and deliver such news.
"Are you Yang Jing?"
"And you are?"
Li Yanling extended her hand confidently and said, "Hello, my name is Li Yanling, Liu Zheng’s girlfriend."
"What? Girlfriend?"
Her mood instantly turned complicated, shocked and sad at the same time, and the idea of Li Yanling claiming to be Liu Zheng’s current girlfriend only added to her dejection.
"Li Yanling, why are you telling me this?"
Yang Jing asked, puzzled.
Li Yanling smiled slightly, her gaze on Yang Jing revealing a hint of mockery.
"Yang Jing, I know you had a one-night stand with Liu Zheng, and that’s an undeniable fact. But now, I have chosen to forgive Liu Zheng, and we are working on mending our relationship. So, I hope you can understand, Liu Zheng is mine now, and you shouldn’t keep pestering him."
Upon hearing this, Yang Jing was infuriated.
Her mood shifted to an indescribable mix of sadness and loss.
"You don’t understand him, Li Yanling. Your relationship might only be superficial, but that night I had with Liu Zheng was real, filled with true love. Your reconciliation is just a facade; you can never understand what we shared."
Li Yanling laughed coldly: "True love? Yang Jing, that’s really funny. Liu Zheng was just playing with you when he felt lonely. Do you think what you had was so special? You are a memory from his past, while I am his future support."
Hearing these words, Yang Jing felt both angry and heartbroken, struggling to contain her emotions.
"You know nothing about Liu Zheng. When he was with me, he never showed any care or affection for you. He just used you as a substitute to fill the void in his heart."
"Haha, Yang Jing, you’re really ridiculous. No matter how you try to justify yourself, you can’t change the nature of your relationship with Liu Zheng. He has chosen me, and you can only become a memory of the past."
