Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Will You Think I’m Easy?
"Chairman!"
Zhang Chun said respectfully.
"He’s gone?"
"He’s gone."
"Zhang Chun, you did well. I can see he trusts you. But he’s very self-reliant and doesn’t like to burden others, so you need to be more thoughtful in the future."
"I understand!"
He waved a hand. "Go get some rest."
It turned out this wasn’t Zhang Chun’s room.
Just as Yang Hui had suspected, no matter how wealthy Xinyue Group was, it would never put a regional director up in the presidential suite for a business trip. That would be far too extravagant.
It was 10:00 PM by the time he got home. The living room lights were on, and Wenren Du’Er was curled up in a corner of the L-shaped sofa, a book clutched in her arms as she dozed fitfully.
He walked over and gently took the book from her hands. A glance at the cover revealed she was reading Zhu Ziqing’s *Father*.
The smart home system kept the thermostat at a constant 24°C, yet her toes were still unconsciously rubbing against the fluffy carpet, as if trying to generate some heat.
’Looks like the little girl is feeling insecure.’
"Du’Er, time to go to your room and sleep."
Her eyelashes fluttered. As she opened her eyes, the crystal chandelier left colorful afterimages on her retinas. For a dazed moment, she thought she was still dreaming.
She reached out and pinched Yang Hui’s arm. "Doesn’t hurt... So it is a dream!"
Having mumbled this, she settled back down to sleep.
He chuckled. "Du’Er!"
Wenren Du’Er sat up instinctively, now wide awake. Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she asked, "Dad, you’re back?"
"I just had a dream that I’d fallen into the ocean and was about to drown. Then, a piece of driftwood floated over. I held on for dear life and was saved. But at the very end, the driftwood suddenly took your form, and I woke up."
He ruffled her hair and said gently, "Go take a bath and get to bed."
As Wenren Du’Er got up, Yang Hui peeked into the kitchen. "Du’Er, what did you have for dinner?"
"I made myself some egg fried rice."
He scratched his head. ’Maybe I should hire a housekeeper to cook. I can’t cook, and I can’t have a thirteen-year-old girl making meals every day.’
’Her cooking is less about making a proper meal and more about just filling her stomach. Thirteen is a crucial age for growth; she needs proper nutrition.’
He sent Wenren Du’Er off to enjoy the jacuzzi tub, then returned to the master bedroom for a quick shower before bed.
The massive 2.2 by 2-meter soft bed was something he had tested when he bought the apartment. It improved his sleep quality immensely. He slept so well that when he woke up, it was already past 9:00 AM the next day.
Opening his eyes, he picked up his phone and found a new WeChat message.
[Liu Shasha: President Yang, it’s the weekend. Want to let me treat you to lunch?]
’Treating me to lunch?’
’I’m not in the habit of being a kept man. Besides, I know her asking me to lunch is just a pretense. What she really wants is to rekindle our old flame.’
’It is the weekend, and I’ve got nothing better to do. Why not have a little fun with her?’
’Her words, "Don’t you want a taste of someone else’s future wife?" were still fresh in his mind. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try, would it?’
The two made a plan. At 11:00 AM, Yang Hui would pick her up at the entrance of Huasheng District. They would browse around Xinyue Square first, then find a place to eat.
He got out of bed. Du’Er had made breakfast, which he ate quickly.
’I really need to get on with hiring a housekeeper,’ he thought.
「At the main entrance of Huasheng District, in the shade of an old tree.」
Liu Shasha stood craning her neck in anticipation. Her lotus-green halter dress swayed gently in the wind, its high slit offering teasing glimpses of her long, slender legs whenever a gust blew.
She wore a pair of clear PVC sandals, her toenails painted a coral shade. A woven straw tote bag was slung casually over her shoulder, completing her chic, urban look.
She watched the cars pass by, wondering which one might be Yang Hui’s.
’A man who can afford a seven-million-yuan apartment can certainly buy a nice car without a second thought.’
A matte black Mercedes E300L braked to a precise stop three meters in front of her. The metal spokes of its AMG rims continued to spin from inertia, like the trembling tips of a predator’s claws just before they retract.
Liu Shasha’s sixth sense told her this had to be him. Sure enough, the descending window framed a chiseled profile and a pair of seductive eyes. It was really him. Her heart pounded as she approached the passenger-side door.
He leaned over and pushed the passenger door open. A wave of air, fragrant with the scent of leather and cologne, washed over her. Liu Shasha’s face flushed with excitement as she lifted a leg to get in.
Her fingertips brushed the doorframe of the Mercedes E-Class. As she raised her leg, the high slit in her skirt split open wide. Against the matte black paint of the car, the curve of her pale, slender leg was more dazzling than the glint of a knife’s edge.
The leather seat sighed faintly under her weight. The instant she brought her knees together, the skirt fell closed like a curtain, a sight that invited a second, lingering glance.
A high-slit skirt truly was a woman’s cleverest weapon—it allowed a man to glimpse every fantasy without her having to take a thing off.
He leaned over to fasten her seatbelt. The sharp CLICK of the buckle was like a confirmation of her silent seduction.
As he pulled his hand back, it "accidentally" brushed against her firm chest.
"Sorry, my mind wandered. Wrong placement."
’Is "wrong placement" the same as "putting it in"?’ Liu Shasha shot him a playful look and giggled. "I’ll let you make that mistake on purpose."
"No need to rush that," he said. "We have plenty of time today. We’ll go eat, and then we can find a place to ’rest’ this afternoon."
Faced with his obvious suggestion, Liu Shasha simply hummed in agreement. This was exactly what she’d had in mind when she’d invited him out.
"President Yang, do you think I’m an easy woman?"
"Of course not. Why would you even think that?"
’He wasn’t an idiot. The first rule when faced with a question like that was to deny, deny, deny.’
’Who cares if she’s easy or not? It’s not like I’m going to marry her or even make her my girlfriend. She’s just someone else’s future wife, after all.’
"Would you believe me if I said this is the first time I’ve ever asked a guy out?"
"Of course, I believe you."
Yang Hui’s response was almost robotic, a reflex honed by years spent surrounded by women.
After leading an operations team for two years, managing so many female subordinates and sales associates, he’d learned a thing or two about the female psyche. If he hadn’t, he could only imagine how many dirty looks he’d have gotten.
’As for what he really thought? He believed her, my ass.’
’This was a one- or two-time thing. Whether he believed her was completely irrelevant.’
’The criteria for someone to kill time with were completely different from the criteria for a lifelong partner.’
On a weekend, Xinyue Square was packed. There was even a long line just to get into the parking garage.
’He was starting to regret this. Who knew how bad the traffic would be when they tried to leave? Still, what’s done is done.’
His reason for bringing her to the mall was simple. He planned on paying for their "rest" later that afternoon; he had no intention of this being a free hookup.
"Let’s go browse upstairs."
This particular Xinyue Square was the most high-end of the three in Qingzhou, with a Gucci and a Cartier flanking the main entrance.
Liu Shasha let him take the lead, unsure of where he was taking her. But she had a feeling he was going to buy her a gift. ’What will he get me?’ she wondered.
Filled with anticipation, she followed him into the Gucci store.
