There were five people gathered there.

One of them stood in front of the house, earnestly observing the battle ahead, occasionally showing a pensive expression. She was a girl with short gray hair. Beside her was a girl draped only in a cloak, with exposed areas shimmering blue with golden hues, jelly-like in appearance.

Even from afar, she seemed to sense something, her gaze directed towards Violet and the others, including the slime girl.

Not far from them, seated cross-legged, was a butterfly girl with long pink hair, adorned with four thin wing-shaped translucent wings on her back. At this moment, she appeared to be deep in meditation, looking serene and undisturbed.

Further ahead on the wide open space, two figures were engaged in intense combat at speeds imperceptible to the naked eye.

The young man appeared to be in his early twenties, dressed in plain clothes, wielding a long wooden sword. His agile gray hair moved with his swift movements, though his attacks were defensive in nature, lightning-fast like a sudden bolt.

On the other hand, the slender woman with similarly gray hair displayed an exceptionally fierce offense. She swung a wooden sword similar in shape and size to the man’s, the sound of their clashes echoing heavily like rain.

Her strikes were not just straightforward attacks, she cleverly shifted angles and occasionally feinted, threatening from unexpected angles. Despite this, the man, equally experienced, always managed to respond unexpectedly yet effectively at crucial moments, preventing what could have been his defeat.

Although both their wooden swords gleamed with a magical aura, Violet could tell it wasn’t for increased lethality but rather to protect the fragile wood from breaking under such intense combat.

In other words, this was a sparring match.

Without rushing to interrupt them, Priestess quietly observed as she and a few companions moved closer but then stopped nearby.

Noticing the arrival of the slime girl, who had appeared with them, she quickly detoured to join the black-haired girl, running up beside her.

“Lady Violet, you’re here.”

“Thank you~ Have there been any developments during this time? Have those two made any suspicious moves?”

Little Blue, who volunteered to stay behind with Lulu to monitor changes in the illusionary world and assist Minchen in guarding the two prisoners, shook her head.

“According to Lulu, the illusionary world is stable for now. At least in the short term, there shouldn’t be any problems. As for Silvina and Eileen, I’ve been observing them closely for a while now and haven’t noticed anything unusual. They haven’t secretly contacted anyone as you were concerned.”

“Hmm...”

Violet nodded thoughtfully.

After defeating Silvina and reviving Eileen, who had been temporarily killed under Minchen’s coercion, Priestess, Lulu, and Minchen had discussed and decided to confine them in the portal area and assist in guarding the entrance to the illusionary world.

Certainly, this special treatment was due to considerations of their actions and underlying reasons.

However, both Violet and the others believed that killing them would serve no beneficial purpose at present. Although Silvina and Eileen had only obtained a small portion of the divine power, the power of those divine spirits left ownerless after their deaths would undoubtedly worsen the situation.

Silvina and Eileen, defeated in battle, had not opposed this arrangement. They accepted it silently and entered into a binding and enforceable special contract with Lulu. Therefore, at present, they should pose little threat.

The term of the contract is temporarily set at three hundred years. Eileen and Silvina are both descendants of Minchen, though not from the same mother. Ignoring the issue of generational differences due to lifespan among different races, they can be considered as having a sisterly relationship.

Half-demons naturally have long lifespans, and with the added power of the divine spirits, they no longer need to worry about aging. If they can seriously guard the illusionary world for three hundred years without any ulterior motives, making amends for their mistakes, then perhaps reconsideration could be possible by then.

As for why these two descendants of Minchen gathered together to plot for the power of the divine spirits, Violet has largely figured it out through subsequent detailed inquiries.

Silvina’s goal is straightforward—she wants to defeat Minchen and then personally repent at the grave of the “Gatekeeper” who abandoned her mother, perhaps due to the enormous difference in strength described by her mother and the subsequent abandonment, which has caused the girl to develop strong feelings of rebellion.

Hence, she needs even greater power.

As for Eileen, her thoughts are more complicated.

Eileen grew up in the Demon Suppression City since she was a child. Although she hid her half-demon identity well and avoided persecution, she has witnessed far too many conflicts and disputes between humans and other races along the way. This has made her both fearful and secretly angry, forming dissatisfaction with the Human United Kingdom and the human race.

These emotions continued to ferment until they finally exploded about a year and a half ago, triggered by the disappearance of Cyril, who grew up with her since childhood and whom she regards as an older brother, in the Demon Mountains during a poaching operation.

At this moment, Silvina happened to arrive at the Demon Suppression City, and the two met by chance. Through a series of coincidences, they recognized each other’s half-demon identities and immediately hit it off, deciding to join forces.

What Eileen wanted was a permanent solution to fundamentally change the twisted atmosphere of discrimination against other races in the Human United Kingdom.

Her method was violent and direct. The long-standing struggle between humans and other races was essentially a manifestation of conflicting ideologies. Such conflicts couldn’t be resolved out of thin air but could be redirected.

Indeed, they needed a common and powerful external enemy. Just like many stories depict, countries on the continent, perennially at odds, unite in alliance after a Demon God emerges and swiftly destroys several, cooperating deeply to combat the formidable foe and so on...

While stories may be fictional, their cause and effect are logical. Therefore, Eileen decided to become this Demon God.

As long as humanity faced real, painful harm and existential threats, they wouldn’t have the luxury to oppress other races but would have no choice but to cooperate. This would naturally eradicate many professions and illicit activities that relied on such conflicts, like poachers.

Perhaps this would require a lengthy process, and Eileen’s hands would inevitably be stained with blood. Yet, she believed it was the only way to resolve conflicts at their roots.

However, she couldn’t let the kingdom be truly destroyed, so she betrayed and attempted to stop the arrival of the evil god, God of Blazing Flames, into the mortal world, hoping to engage Mr. Gatekeeper in a mutually destructive battle to facilitate Silvina’s success.

However, Eileen didn’t anticipate that the Gatekeeper would personally arrive at the Demon Suppression City, nor did she expect his strength to be so formidable. He swiftly defeated her in a crushing manner, ultimately leaving her plan to become the “Demon God” in vain.

As for the books stored in her basement, including those written in the Earth language, despite their efforts to decipher them for a long time, they could only grasp a rough understanding.

These were the notes of the adventurers in the Illusionary Realm, which Silvina had spent countless efforts and costs searching for over a hundred years. Now, the purpose of doing so was quite clear.

Even if they possessed the 【Demon God’s Token】, they still had to answer at least one riddle correctly in front of the young man in white known as Wenqu during the second of the three questions posed by the gods. Otherwise... they would completely lose their qualification to proceed forward.
