When they left the headquarters of the Black Knights Mercenary Group, the sky had already entered twilight, casting dim light over the streets and the walls of buildings. The scattered closed shops along the roadside added a sense of desolation to this city that should have been bustling.

Perhaps triggered by the scene or recalling the events Lester mentioned earlier, Theresa looked somewhat dejected.

“Miss Violet, why does the Human United Kingdom have such hostility towards other races? Everyone just wants to live peacefully...”

The black-haired girl, upon being asked, took a few steps forward, turned around with her hands behind her back, and responded indifferently.

“Racial discrimination... it’s just how it is. Only weak and insecure groups exhibit such behavior. It sounds nice to call it self-preservation, but in reality, it’s about raising one’s own value and status by belittling and suppressing another group.”

As she spoke, Violet suddenly turned to the blonde girl beside her.

“Xiao Guang, what do you think? What’s the difference between humans and other races?”

“?”

The young dragon girl tilted her head, not quite understanding why her master suddenly asked this question, but she answered without hesitation.

“There’s no difference, right? They’re all just ants that can be crushed at will.”

“You see, that’s the attitude only true strength can possess. Ahem... of course, I’m not asking you to adopt her viewpoint, just giving an example.”

“Um... is that so?”

As the three girls chatted, they walked towards their planned destination. It was rare for them to visit the Demon Suppression City, and Violet had already picked out a nice hotel ahead of time. This place served as the meeting point for everyone tonight, where they could also taste the local specialties.

Many restaurants in the city had temporarily closed due to the closure of the Ten Thousand Demons Mountains and shortage of ingredients. Violet had finally found this place after much effort.

When they arrived at their destination, the winged sisters Leila and Rene, hiding their wings, were already waiting at the hotel entrance. It seemed they had been shopping on the shopping street, as they had changed into new clothes and were leisurely eating skewered meat while chatting.

“Oh, Lady Violet, you’ve arrived. Did the investigation go smoothly?”

Seeing the approaching trio, Leila waved her hand in greeting, while her sister Rene, with a mouthful of skewered meat, quickly followed suit, waving the wooden stick in her hand.

“Haha, it’s a long story, but let’s just say we made some progress. We’ll talk about it later. And Edwina? Isn’t she here yet?”

“No, it’s strange. She’s usually the most punctual... Lady Violet, could something have happened?”

Glancing around, Violet resisted the urge to directly use her soul power for wide-range detection and shook her head for the time being.

“Although her brain occasionally malfunctions, she’s still legendary-level. It’s not so easy for something to happen to her. Maybe something came up, let’s wait a bit longer. It’s not completely dark yet.”

“Okay.”

The group waited at the hotel entrance for a while. After several minutes passed, even the magical lamps on the street gradually lit up. Violet frowned slightly, and just as she was getting concerned, a hurried figure of a holy knight appeared at the street corner, running towards them.

“Sorry, sorry! I’m late! Um... something strange happened, and I was unavoidably delayed...”

Edwina arrived somewhat disheveled beside Violet and the others. For some reason, she looked out of breath, and her white holy knight armor was slightly damp with sweat, indicating that she had just experienced some intense activity.

Seeing the appearance of this girl, Miss Priestess couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

You see, Edwina is a legendary holy knight, and her physical fitness is far beyond ordinary people. It’s unlikely for her to be in such a state from just ordinary activities. Apart from intense physical training, the only thing Violet could think of is...

“What, did you run into trouble as soon as you left?”

This girl, Edwina, is good in every way, but she has a flaw: she’s too fond of meddling in other people’s business.

Violet also likes to meddle, but what she meddles in are things that have enough value or are interesting. She usually chooses to ignore trivial matters.

But Edwina is different. She can’t stand any evil or suffering in her eyes. If someone is being robbed or fighting, she wants to intervene. If she sees someone injured and bleeding, she’ll treat them for free without hesitation. Even passing by a pickpocket or helping an old lady cross the street, she’ll lend a hand.

And this legendary holy knight princess just happens to have the ability to handle these things well.

Although it wastes a lot of time and energy, it’s not like Violet has to do the work herself, so she just turns a blind eye to it.

But here in the Demon Suppression City... how should I put it, the situation is a bit delicate. Violet hopes Edwina can temporarily tone it down as much as possible, so as not to involve them in things that Miss Priestess doesn’t want to deal with.

“Huh? Ran into trouble? Miss Violet, do you mean... uh, I didn’t encounter any bad guys, well, not exactly. Maybe I did, but how do I put it...”

Edwina hesitated for a moment, then waved her hand to deny it, but she seemed to feel that saying so wasn’t quite right. She shook her head, not knowing what she wanted to express.

The few of them looked at each other inexplicably, and Miss Priestess could only smile helplessly and hold her forehead.

“Alright, alright, let’s discuss this inside slowly. This isn’t the place to talk about business.”

Entering the hotel, the girls requested a private room, ordered their dishes, and then took their seats one by one. Facing Edwina, who seemed to have something to say but hesitated, Violet nodded, indicating that she could begin her statement.

Miss holy knight cleared her throat awkwardly and scratched her head.

“Well... it’s like this. After separating from everyone this afternoon, I just randomly chose a direction and kept walking forward. As you all know, the Demon Suppression City is very large, and even walking all day might not get you to the end. I didn’t think too much about it, just paid attention to the landmarks on the roadside in case I couldn’t find my way back.”

“However, as I was walking, I suddenly felt something was off. Although there should have been many people on the streets, it suddenly became very quiet. Just as I noticed, in the blink of an eye, the surroundings changed into a completely different scene.”

“............?”

What’s going on? Are we telling horror stories here? There couldn’t possibly be any more mysteries about the Demon Suppression City, right?

The sarcastic thoughts of the priestess naturally couldn’t reach Edwina’s ears. She glanced at Theresa, who was choking on her saliva, and continued.

“I’m not sure what happened, but I immediately drew my sword, prepared for anything.”

“It was a misty mountain, uh, not like the gray fog in the Sky City, it looked quite normal, but the place was very quiet, with no signs of people around, only quite a lot of butterflies fluttering about.”

“I wandered in that mountain for a long time, but couldn’t find my way out. And for some reason, I felt that my armor and weapons were very heavy, as if I had returned to the time when I had just become a holy knight, just walking made me sweat profusely.”

“Just when I started to get anxious, the scenery around me changed again, and suddenly I was back in the Demon Suppression City.”

“And... it was still the same place as before, as if I had been walking in place the whole time.”
