This feeling is like when someone, who is undoubtedly alive, suddenly writes several wills one day—no matter how you think about it, it’s quite strange, isn’t it?

But what Violet didn’t believe she could immediately think of was that even after thousands of years, the winged people wouldn’t notice something, as existence is a principle. Perhaps there is a deeper reason behind it.

The main issue now is the “Seed” mentioned in the prophecy.

“I roughly understand what you mean. Let’s go inside and talk.”

“Alright.”

After exchanging greetings with the two gun-wielding girls guarding the courtyard, clearly of a higher caliber than the white-feathered ones outside, Sigrid smoothly led Violet into the door.

Just like seen from outside, the room isn’t large, with only one room inside. A small door beside it opens to a restroom, but no kitchen is found, indicating that food is directly provided by the winged people.

As in the common living environment for most people, there’s a small bed, a desk, two chairs, a wooden cabinet, and a bookshelf with a few books.

That’s all there is in the room.

The white bedding is neatly folded, placed under the pillow. Warm sunlight filters through the barred window, shining directly on the desk, in front of which a few green potted plants sway slightly in the light.

A girl with long azure hair is wearing a simple long dress, sitting at the table with her back to the door. There are thick open books on the table, and she seems quite absorbed in reading, not even noticing the soft door-opening sound from outside.

Sigrid seems to have anticipated this situation. After casting a helpless look at the two beside her, she knocks on the door frame behind her.

“Theresa, stop reading. The person I mentioned has arrived.”

“Ah? Miss Sigrid, I’m sorry, I got too engrossed just now. Is this the distinguished guest you mentioned yesterday?”

Upon hearing the voice, the village girl quickly turned her head and stood up. She even remembered to place a bookmark in the thick book on the table. Her smile remained as simple as when they first met, but there was a touch more sorrow in the depths of her pupils.

Then, she saw the black-haired girl smiling towards her.

“!!!”

“Hey, long time no see. I didn’t expect to meet again in this way, Theresa.”

The village girl seemed startled, almost kicking the chair at her feet in surprise.

“Miss Violet? How did you appear here... No, I clearly didn’t...”

Standing behind Sigrid, the mischievous priestess winked at her. Theresa, who seemed more clever than before, quickly stopped the topic, her expression complex and excited as she changed her words.

“Sorry... I’m just too happy. I never dreamed of seeing you again, Miss Violet. How have you been during this time?”

“Uh, it’s been okay. But you, it seems like you’ve had a tough time.”

Because Sigrid was still present, Violet couldn’t be too explicit in her words. Given her current situation, it wasn’t suitable to openly disclose the existence of Sethlin and their relationship, as it would surely lead to more troubles.

“No, I... sob...”

Like a wandering child seeing their mother after a long time, Theresa, who harbored great affection and trust towards Violet for some reason, heard the priestess’s words and covered her mouth, her eyes turning red as she seemed to be trying hard to restrain the urge to sob.

“Alright, good girl, don’t cry.”

After hesitating for a moment, Violet still walked forward and gently hugged the other girl.

“Miss Violet... Waaaah!!!”

Although her figure was obviously more mature than Violet’s, or rather, Violet was just too petite, like an undeveloped young girl. Yet, when embraced so gently by the black-haired girl, Theresa couldn’t stop the emotions surging in her heart and burst into tears, crying with grievances.

“There, there, it’s okay.”

Really... it felt like comforting a child who had been bullied by someone else.

Sigrid and Xiao Guang on the side saw this scene but tactfully didn’t interrupt them. Although the latter’s teeth were grinding audibly, she still understood what behavior constituted a tantrum and how to genuinely displease her master.

After crying in the arms of the priestess for a while, Theresa seemed much more relaxed. The lingering sadness on her face had visibly diminished.

“I’m sorry... I, I was too ignorant. Not only did I show such an embarrassing appearance in front of Miss Violet, but I also wet your noble... huh?”

The black-haired girl laughed, brushing the still dry and clean sleeve of her white robe. She tapped the bewildered Theresa on the nose, bringing her back to reality.

“Hehe, impressive, right? Because Theresa is a very cute girl, this level is nothing. Okay, you’ve cried enough, let’s talk about serious matters now.”

“Um... okay. So, Miss Violet, what do you want to talk about? I’ve already said everything I can say.”

Wiping away the tear stains at the corner of her eyes and glancing at Sigrid, who had walked over with a certain dragon lady, Theresa quickly pulled out a chair for Violet before continuing.

The priestess nodded inwardly.

Despite the short separation of less than a month, this naive young girl has grown a lot. Not only has her behavior become more polished, but she has also learned to observe and cooperate willingly in the charade with the priestess.

Indeed, it’s adversity that can quickly enhance a person’s abilities.

Sigrid took two steps forward.

“Theresa, my colleagues have probably repeated the same words many times. The Wings of Freedom is an enlightened organization and won’t falsely accuse innocent people. After a detailed investigation, your background is indeed clear, and you don’t exhibit any Abyss-related fluctuations. So, I don’t understand why you are so adamant about not telling us the origin of that seed.”

“The Abyss is terrifying, as you’ve witnessed firsthand. It’s the common enemy of all living beings. What we do is to prevent the same catastrophe from happening in countless other places. The interests are already clear. Why are you hesitating?”

“If it’s because of my past actions or forcibly bringing you here without your consent, I’m willing to apologize, or you can ask for any compensation. Look, Miss Violet, whom you admire the most, is here now. She is also our ally against the Abyss. Even if you don’t trust Wings of Freedom, she won’t harm you, right?”

“Miss Violet...”

Theresa hesitated and turned her gaze to the black-haired girl beside her. Perhaps in Sigrid’s eyes, she was debating whether to speak up, but Violet understood that Theresa was actually inquiring about how to respond in this situation.

It seems Theresa is determined to stand on the same side as her. This strong trust, although Violet doesn’t fully understand the reasons behind it, is indeed touching.
