Chapter 852: Chapter 825: Disrupting Alchemy
Alchemy Cauldron - Chaos Refinement, activate!
Flames burst out on Daidsuji’s field, forming a burning ring of fire. A massive alchemical cauldron slowly rose from within the blaze with a rumbling roar, appearing on his field.
"While Alchemy Cauldron - Chaos Refinement is on the field, every card I send to the Graveyard is removed from the game instead." Daidsuji smiled.
Insect Moth frowned slightly.
Removing his own cards from the game... is this guy playing a banish-type Card Deck?
As if he’d seen through the doubt in the other’s heart, Daidsuji let out a soft chuckle.
"You can’t judge alchemical battles by common sense." Daidsuji said slowly, then gestured at another card in his hand.
Then the fat orange cat lazily clamped that card in his mouth and slid it into the Duel Disc.
"Magic Card ’Iron Lamp Oil’!
This card can only be activated while I control ’Alchemy Cauldron - Chaos Refinement’. Special Summon one ’Alchemy Beast - Iron Fire Dragon’ from my hand or Card Deck."
A gigantic lamp appeared on the field, lamp oil like molten iron dripping down from the Card Deck, hissing white smoke as it hit the ground. Blazing flames surged up and, with a sharp screech, took the form of a Fire Dragon.
[Alchemy Beast - Iron Fire Dragon, Attack Power 500]
"Effect of Alchemy Beast - Iron Fire Dragon." Daidsuji chuckled. "Alchemy Beasts can ignore all Monsters on the field and attack the opposing player directly!"
Butterfly’s expression changed slightly. "Nani?"
"Direct attack of Iron Fire Dragon!"
The Fire Dragon flew straight across the field, ignoring the Ultimate Insect on Butterfly’s field, and a blast of Flame Shock exploded right in Butterfly’s face.
[Butterfly, LP4000→LP3500]
"Tch, such a cheap trick." Butterfly snorted disdainfully, but then pushed up his glasses and said coldly, "But to leave such a weak Monster on the field just for that little bit of damage—watch me blast it to pieces in minutes..."
"Is that so?"
The ghost of Daidsuji also pushed up the frame of the glasses that didn’t actually exist and smiled.
"But after my body died, I picked up quite a bit of inspiration from my students. Let’s see if you’re ready to deal with this...
I set two cards to the back row and end my turn."
"At the moment your turn ends, my face-down in the back row activates!"
Just as Butterfly’s back row flipped, a torrent of golden light erupted from underground, engulfing the Ultimate Insect on his field.
"Trap Card ’Level Transformation’!" Butterfly shouted. "This card can only be activated during the End Phase of your opponent’s turn!
Send one face-up Monster you control with ’LV’ in its name to the Graveyard, then Special Summon from the Graveyard one Monster described on that card, ignoring its Summoning conditions and Revive restrictions!" (Original Card)
Butterfly pointed to the Level 3 on his field.
"Send ’Ultimate Insect LV3’ to the Graveyard, let LV3 evolve and upgrade—come forth——
——Ultimate Insect LV5!"
Under the golden radiance, that insect’s body grew and evolved at a speed visible to the naked eye, its size rapidly swelling. Its writhing body sprouted several blade-like insect legs, and its form looked as if it were covered in a silver suit of armor.
[Ultimate Insect LV5, Attack Power 2300]
"You managed to jump straight to LV5 in a single turn, huh." Daidsuji chuckled. "LV Monsters have the ability to voluntarily upgrade during your own Standby Phase.
So by the look of it, next turn you’ll be upgrading to LV7?"
"Exactly!"
A vicious gleam flashed in Butterfly’s eyes.
"I don’t have time to waste too long with a cat here. I’ll just end this Duel quickly.
My turn, draw!
Standby Phase, I activate the effect of ’Ultimate Insect LV5’! Send LV5 to the Graveyard and evolve once more! Appear——
——Ultimate Insect LV7!"
Butterfly burst into manic laughter, as if at this moment he had reached the pinnacle of his life. It was the aura a Duelist only had when summoning their ace to the field. His Ultimate Insect was once again wrapped in the golden glow of evolution, rapidly growing and changing, as though some terrifying Monster was about to emerge from that storm of golden light.
However, at that very moment—
"Then I’ll chain to the effect of the just-sent-to-the-Graveyard ’Ultimate Insect LV5’."
Daidsuji spoke, and the Pharaoh’s cat paw smacked down on the activation button of a Cover Card on the Duel Disc with a snap.
"Chain two face-down cards.
First is Trap Card ’Ojama Trio’, Special Summon three ’Ojama Derivative’ to your field!"
Green, yellow, and black Derivatives leapt out cheerily and pounced straight onto Butterfly’s field.
Butterfly: "?"
Huh? The hell is this crap?
[Ojama Derivative, Defense Power 1000] x3
"And then my other Cover Card, Continuous Trap ’Heroic Warlords’!" Daidsuji grinned darkly. "As long as this card remains on the field, both players must send Monsters from their own field to the Graveyard until only one Race remains.
While this card stays on the field, each of us can have Monsters of only one Race on the field at most!"
Butterfly: "..."
Butterfly: "......"
Wait, bro?
What the hell is this shit?
"Heh, as expected of a legendary Duelist—you catch on quick. What it means is," Daidsuji pushed up his glasses, "all three Derivatives are Beast Race, so you can’t Summon Monsters of a different Race.
Also, your Ultimate Insect LV5 has already been sent to the Graveyard as the cost to activate its own effect. But before its effect can resolve, Heroic Warlords has already taken effect, and you cannot Summon Insect Race Monsters.
So Ultimate Insect LV7 cannot appear."
Butterfly stared wide-eyed at this cat.
As if saying:
Believe it or not, I’ll strangle you, you damn cat?
Who taught you to Duel like this?
"Alright, it’s still your turn." Daidsuji said unhurriedly. "Of course, right now you can only Summon Beast Race Monsters.
So, what else are you going to do?"
Butterfly stayed silent for several seconds.
Then, with a slightly trembling hand, he slowly drew out a card from his hand.
"I set one card and end my turn."
Indeed, for now there wasn’t much he could do.
Still, although these three Derivatives were annoying, they were at least three scrubby walls.
He glanced at the card he had just set in his back row.
Next turn, he had a way to break through.
"My turn, draw."
The fat orange cat drew.
"I then activate the Magic Card ’Copper Balance’." Daidsuji said. "If I control ’Alchemy Cauldron - Chaos Refinement’, I can Special Summon ’Alchemy Beast: Copper-Scaled Python’ from my Card Deck!"
This time it was an Alchemy Beast forged of copper. Different attribute, but it had the exact same basic effect as the Fire Dragon just now.
[Alchemy Beast: Copper-Scaled Python, Attack Power 500]
"Next is the Magic Card ’Lead Compass’! Special Summon ’Alchemy Beast - Lead Lion’ from the Card Deck!"
[Alchemy Beast - Lead Lion, Attack Power 500]
"Iron Fire Dragon, Copper-Scaled Python, Lead Lion—they can all ignore Monsters and attack directly.
Direct attack by all three Alchemy Beasts!"
At Daidsuji’s command, all three Alchemy Beasts flew out, each unleashing their special move right into Butterfly’s face.
Butterfly: "Uwaaah!"
[Butterfly, LP3500→LP2000]
Butterfly dropped to one knee, adjusting the glasses that had been blasted askew.
"Bastard... so you plan to win using this kind of tactic?"
