Chapter 837: Chapter 810: Dragon God Descends

Yugen suddenly pulled out a handful of cards from his deck, scattering them everywhere with a flourish. The cards thrown into the air formed a shield barrier, blocking before him.

The impact from the Dark Triangular Monster Dragon hit the card barrier completely, failing to strike Yugen himself.

"Although it’s blocked the damage," the elf blinked in confusion, "but to throw away nineteen cards from the deck at once..."

Yugen continued, "Furthermore, the ’Dark Realm’s Scout-Ska’ you just destroyed, when sent to the graveyard by battle destruction, allows me to add a four-star ’Dark Realm’ to my hand from the deck." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

A card automatically popped out from Yugen’s deck, which he drew into his hand and displayed.

"I’m adding the four-star ’Dark Mage: Snow’ to my hand."

"Are you resorting to anything to avoid damage?" Ryuzaki shouted, "But my attack is not over yet!

Swiftfoot Velociraptor, direct attack!"

The Velociraptor charged at full speed, kicking up dust, its long tail swaying, and ramming straight into Yugen.

Yugen slid back half a step, then dusted himself off, calmly standing firm, the white cloak behind him slowly falling.

[Yugen, LP4000→LP2600]

This reaction annoyed Ryuzaki.

"Tch, acting like Seto Kaiba, you’ve got that swagger down.

My turn ends."

After pausing, he sneered.

"Your Hanuo Knight seems to be gaining some fame recently... heh, good. Once I defeat you, maybe I can even take over your power, your resources, your strength, all for my use.

Then, I won’t need to rely on the Descent Sect anymore..."

"Oh." Yugen smiled with interest, "So your faith in the church is only to this extent, huh."

"I only believe in power, always have been." Ryuzaki justified himself.

"I see." Yugen nodded in understanding.

But that’s very much Ryuzaki. When he and Butterfly joined Doma, it was purely to become stronger. Give me power and I’ll call you boss. If someone else gives more? Sorry, we’re not acquainted.

"My turn, draw card."

Yugen drew a card and then played one card from his hand.

"Magic Card ’Dark Realm Trade’, both sides draw a card from their decks, then both choose a card from their hands to discard."

Ryuzaki drew a card and quickly selected one to discard. Yugen revealed the Snow he had just searched last turn.

"I discard ’Dark Mage: Snow’." Yugen said, "Then Snow’s effect is activated.

When this card is discarded to the graveyard by a card effect, a ’Dark Realm’ card is added to the hand from the deck. I draw this card from the deck..."

Yugen drew a card from his deck search.

"Field Spell ’Gate of the Dark Realm’ added to hand."

"Field spell... the search range isn’t limited to monsters only, huh." Ryuzaki muttered.

"Then Field Spell ’Gate of the Dark Realm’ is activated!"

Yugen raised the card in his hand high. The surrounding field immediately transformed into the profound, lightless domain of the Dark Realm, a towering, eerie black gate radiating swirling black fog from the cracks.

"While the Gate of the Dark Realm exists, all Demon Race monsters on my field gain 300 points in attack power and defense power."

Ryuzaki scoffed at this, "A mere 300-point increase, what difference can that make?"

Yugen chuckled.

"Don’t rush, there’s a second, critical effect of the Gate of the Dark Realm," Yugen said, "which allows you, once per turn, to banish one Demon Race from your graveyard, discard a Demon Race monster from your hand,

and then draw a card from the deck."

"Seriously?" Ryuzaki crossed his arms, still disdainful, "It’s just a handcard exchange effect, and it’s limited to Demon Race... what difference can that possibly make?"

Yugen smiled, not offering an explanation, only said, "I’ll banish the Demon Race ’Dark Mage: Snow’ from the graveyard." Yugen said, "Then discard one hand card from the Demon Race, afterward draw a card from the deck."

However, the moment he sent the card to the graveyard, Ryuzaki suddenly seemed to sense an overwhelming darkness exploding from the opponent’s graveyard. Like a pair of horrific eyes opening in an abyss, a terrifying demon is maliciously watching him from within.

Then that ominous feeling actually materialized. A vast Demon God, dragon-like yet demonic, but its shadow obscured in darkness, its appearance unclear, floating above Yugen, looking down intimidatingly, making one’s heartbeat almost skip a beat.

"The demon race I just discarded is ’Dark Realm Dragon God: Grafa’." Yugen said, "Dragon God, when discarded by a card effect to the graveyard, allows destruction of any card on the opponent’s field."

He beckoned his finger towards Ryuzaki’s monster bird.

"Destroy the Dark Triangular Monster Bird Dragon."

The demon’s shadow opened its massive jaw, as if endless darkness consuming. Ryuzaki’s dinosaur was instantly extinguished, blown to pieces by darkness.

Ryuzaki raised his arm to shield himself from the explosion’s impact, suddenly understanding something.

"You... is your whole deck based on effects triggered by discarding cards?"

His pupils abruptly contracted.

The Mage Snow that was discarded to the graveyard could retrieve any card from the deck, along with the Dragon God who could blast any card by discarding. If the rest of the deck also shares similar effects, then the "Gate of the Dark Realm" that allows routine hand exchanges each turn becomes quite terrifying.

"Then I Normal Summon ’Dark Realm’s Vanguard’." Yugen said.

[Dark Realm’s Vanguard: Becky, Attack Power 1600]

"Next, the other effect of the Dragon God in the graveyard is activated," Yugen said, "Allowing one ’Dark Realm’ monster other than the Dragon God on the field to return to the hand, this card can be Special Summoned from the graveyard.

Therefore, I return Becky from the field to my hand.

From the world devoid of light, embodiment of despair—

—Dark Realm Dragon God: Grafa, summon!"

The vanguard vanished from the field, and within the storm of darkness, the demon’s shadow from before was realized. The oppressive dread left Ryuzaki feeling as if his heart was pinned to the ground, as the demon descended like a giant dragon, dominating this land of despair.

[Dark Realm Dragon God: Grafa, Attack Power 2700]

"And gaining the boost of the ’Gate of the Dark Realm’", Yugen said, "Dragon God’s attack power increases by 300."

[Dark Realm Dragon God: Grafa, Attack Power 2700→Attack Power 3000]

"Battle," Yugen declared, "Dark Realm Dragon God: Grafa, attack ’Swiftfoot Velociraptor’."
