Thinking about it, she realized it was true. When she found out even Goodwin from Security used the same Plant deck as hers, she’d thought it was odd.
At duel’s start, she’d gotten the upper hand thanks to Plant synergy.
Take her Continuous Trap "Rose Flame"—normally she built it to combo with "Black Garden". Each time she summoned a monster, she could also summon a Plant Token on the opponent’s field, burning them for 500 each time with "Rose Flame".

The magic card faded in gold light; Kira drew.
"Now, the field card I took from your grave last turn."
He lifted his Magic Card.
"Field Spell—Black Garden!"
Once used by Akiza, then destroyed by Black Rose Dragon, it now reappeared as Kira’s own field. Black vines covered everything, turning the entire floor into a plant cage.
Akiza’s expression tightened.
Back comes Black Garden, taken from her.

"Next, I’ll Normal Summon ’Kotodama’ in Defense Position."

Though an Angel monster by type, what appeared was a shriveled, inky-black zombie-like creature carved with mysterious runes.
This card, based on the old legend of "Kotodama", believed that in ancient myth, words themselves were spells—if you could speak the true name of a being, you could control it as your servant.
Akiza frowned. "I don’t know what you’re planning... but any monster you Summon is affected by your own Black Garden—its ATK and DEF halved.
Also, a ’Rose Token’ is Special Summoned to my field."

"Right, a Rose Token is Special Summoned to your field."
Kira smiled, then pointed to the Continuous Trap he’d had set all along.
"But you haven’t forgotten, have you? I still have ’Remove Brainwashing’ face-up."
Akiza: "!"
That’s right—Remove Brainwashing returns all cards to their original controller.
Since Kira now controls Black Garden—all tokens generated go to their original owner, which is Kira. So even though the Rose Token is on Akiza’s field, by the effect of Remove Brainwashing, it instantly reverts to Kira.
Akiza watched as the Rose Token appeared, only to immediately fly over to Kira’s side. She seemed unconcerned, replying coldly: "So what?"

What was he on about?
She still had her ace, Black Rose Dragon, and Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis on the field. He’d already declared his turn end...
Could he still one-turn-KO her after ending his turn?
"End Phase," Kira announced. "During the End Phase, the ’Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis’ sent to the grave last turn by the effect of ’Take Over 5’—its effect activates."
He retrieved the monster card from his graveyard.
"While in the graveyard during the End Phase, Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis can Special Summon itself by banishing a Plant-type from grave as cost."
"The same card as mine!?" Akiza blurted.
"I told you, I wanted to show you how little control you have over your own deck—and your own power," Kira said quietly. "Now, I’ll show you.
Because of ’Spirit Elimination,’ when I would banish a monster from my grave, I may instead banish one on my field in its place.
So, I banish my Rose Token as cost to revive Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis.
Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis resurrects!"

Since I Special Summoned a monster, a Rose Token appears on your field."

"And with Remove Brainwashing—" Kira smiled, "the Rose Token returns to me instantly."
Akiza’s amber eyes contracted as she began to sense something was wrong.
"The effect of Kotodama," Kira said. "While it’s face-up, identical monsters can’t coexist on the field. Summoning a monster with the same name as one that’s already there destroys the new arrival."
Akiza started: "There’s already a Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis on my field..."
"Exactly," Kira said. "Yours came first—so the one I just summoned is destroyed."
Boom!
The freshly summoned Cluster Amaryllis exploded in a shower of sparks before it could even stand upright, burning flames slashing across Akiza.
Akiza groaned, stumbling a half step back.

"When Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis is destroyed, it deals 800 burn damage to you. You should know this effect better than anyone," Kira smiled.
The pain went far beyond the usual psychic battle—Akiza almost couldn’t breathe. But she had no time to worry about that, for she was starting to understand what she’d unleashed.
"After resolving these effects, I’m still in my End Phase," Kira said. "During my End Phase, while Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis is in the grave, it may Special Summon itself by banishing a Plant in grave. This isn’t once per turn—you can do it any time the condition is met.
Again, with Spirit Elimination, I banish a Rose Token from my field instead, to revive Cluster Amaryllis."

Remove Brainwashing pulls the token to his side.
"Because two Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis can’t coexist with Kotodama on the field, mine is immediately destroyed.

"And as this infinite loop continues, Cluster Amaryllis’s self-destructive burn will eventually deal infinite damage to you!"
