Chapter 1039: Chapter 1039: Source of All Evil

Archlord Kristya—destroyed!

At this stage, Kristya finally exited the field. Seeing that troublesome card disappear, Paradox felt a weight lift from his heart.

[Kira, LP 13700 → 12500]

When Malefic Truth Dragon destroys a monster by battle, it can then destroy all other monsters the opponent controls, dealing 800 damage for each. A powerful field-wipe effect, though currently negated by Skill Drain and thus unusable.

Skill Drain is a double-edged sword—it restricts both players. But for a deck like Malefic, which focuses on overwhelming attack power, the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks.

Malefic Truth Dragon’s base ATK is 5000, on par with the Five-Headed Dragon—the upper limit for attack power in Yu-Gi-Oh! To exceed 5000 ATK requires card effects.

Under Skill Drain’s restriction, surpassing this base power is incredibly difficult.

"My turn is over. In the End Phase, Stardust Dragon, which was tributed by its own effect, returns to the field.

This time, in Defense Position."

[Stardust Dragon, DEF 2000]

Paradox said in a low voice, "I won’t lose. Not here, and especially not to someone like you!"

Kira raised his eyebrow. "What’s wrong with someone like me?"

"It’s because of people like you... that Duel Monsters, that this world’s future—"

Paradox cut himself off, realizing his emotions were getting out of control. He shook his head and huffed.

"Never mind. You don’t need to know. But for the world to become better, duelists like you are not needed!"

"Is that really so?"

Kira smiled.

"You just said that in the future you know, I don’t exist—yet the world was still destroyed, wasn’t it?"

Paradox paused, frowning.

"That is a doubt I’ll have to investigate. But duelists like you are definitely a cancer to the world."

"Is that right?" Kira replied calmly. "In my era, there are also duelists like Jaden Yuki. He always maintains his passion for dueling and the future.

If you claim my existence would destroy the future, why didn’t his influence lead humanity down the right path?

After all, as far as I know, your history doesn’t record me, but Jaden Yuki has always been active, right?"

Paradox was momentarily at a loss for words.

"The truth is, you’re just trying to escape the issue—blaming everything on us predecessors."

Kira shook his head.

"But maybe you don’t know—over ten thousand years ago, a shameless snake already prophesied it. As long as greed, jealousy, hatred, and all forms of darkness exist in the human heart, someday the world will be consumed by that darkness.

Even without the perpetual motion machine, something else would do it. So pinning the blame on us old-timers changes nothing; the future will always be doomed."

Paradox was shocked by his words.

Not because he agreed with Kira, nor that such simple words could change his mind, but because he realized just how much this man knew about the future. Far beyond what was normal.

How could a relic from the past know so much? Who is he?

But Paradox also knew that in a duel, one must never lose their momentum. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to calm down. "Enough talk. You’ll have to beat me in a duel first."

Kira smiled.

"That won’t be difficult."

Paradox: "!"

He’s already summoned Truth Dragon, and Skill Drain’s on the field. Does he really think he can OTK me?

"My turn. Draw."

Kira glanced at his hand, then spoke leisurely.

"Well, I hadn’t planned to use these guys’ power so soon—they’re still unstable.

But since you’re the bravest villain in history, you deserve to witness this. Consider it a special treat."

Paradox gritted his teeth.

What’s he talking about now? Why can’t I understand a word he’s saying?

"I activate the Spell Card ’Monster Reborn’! I’ll revive the card I discarded to the graveyard with ’Graceful Charity’ earlier."

Kira smiled.

"The god of destruction that devours everything, annihilates all, returning all to the void—

—The Wicked Eraser, descend!"

Paradox: "!!!"

The... the Wicked God!?

Dark clouds gathered in the sky, a jet-black lightning bolt landed, and a twisted form took shape in the arena, as if emerging from the abyss of hell!

[The Wicked Eraser, ATK ?]

Upon arrival, the Eraser lazily stretched, narrowing its eyes at Kira.

"You sure have guts, brat," it said coldly. "To dare command a god so casually."

"Some exercise is good for you old-timers, too," Kira replied with a smile.

"If you want to corrupt me, you’re welcome to try anytime. But before you succeed, get to work."

The Eraser snorted, seemingly accepting its fate.

"The Wicked Eraser’s ATK is equal to the number of cards you control. You have Stardust Dragon, Paradox Dragon, Skill Drain, and Malefic World—four cards.

So Eraser’s ATK becomes 4000.

And, gods are unaffected by Trap Cards. Skill Drain doesn’t work on Eraser."

[The Wicked Eraser, ATK 4000]

"You commanding a Wicked God is shocking—your secrets keep piling up," Paradox said. "But even so, this Wicked God isn’t a match for Truth Dragon."

Luckily, when Stardust Dragon returned, he put it in Defense Position. Otherwise, Eraser could’ve attacked and finished him off in one blow.

But Kira continued, "Next, I activate the Equip Spell ’Sacrifice of Grave Goods’, equipping it to ’Guardian Angel Joan’.

If the equipped monster is used for a Tribute Summon, this card can also count as one tribute." (Anime card)

With a wave of his hand, Kira declared:

"So, I tribute ’The Wicked Eraser’, ’Guardian Angel Joan’, and ’Sacrifice of Grave Goods’ as three tributes!

Shadow Break! The culmination of all evil—ultimate Wicked God—

—The Wicked Avatar!!!"

Paradox’s pupils shrank.

The ultimate Wicked God!

A pitch-black sphere, like a black sun, hovered overhead, exuding an endless sense of oppression and dread.

"At this moment, the Eraser’s effect activates," Kira explained. "When Eraser is sent to the graveyard, send all other cards on the field to the graveyard.

This effect sends to the graveyard, not destroys, so Stardust’s effect can’t activate.

Not that it would matter anyway—gods aren’t destroyed by ordinary monster effects."

The Eraser’s mire opened, swallowing everything in an instant. Stardust Dragon, Truth Dragon, the entire Malefic World, even Skill Drain vanished without a trace.

In the blink of an eye, the field was wiped clean—nothing left.

Except for the black sphere.

The Wicked Avatar cannot be sent to the grave by effects like the Eraser’s.

"Quick-Play Spell—’Quick Summon’. I Normal Summon a monster from my hand," Kira declared. "I summon ’Phantom of Chaos’."

[Phantom of Chaos, ATK 0]

"Once per turn, Phantom of Chaos can copy the effect and ATK of a monster in my graveyard and also be treated as that monster’s name.

But Phantom of Chaos can’t inflict battle damage to your opponent.

The monster I’ll copy from my graveyard is—"

Kira snapped his fingers.

"Agent of Force—Mars!"

Phantom of Chaos twisted and morphed into the angelic form of Mars, hammer in hand.

"You haven’t forgotten this card’s effect, right?" Kira smiled.

Paradox gritted his teeth. "The difference in Life Points becomes its ATK..."

"Correct."

[Kira: LP 12500]

[Paradox: LP 1250]

[Phantom of Chaos (Agent of Force—Mars), ATK 11250]

Paradox: "But even so, this card can’t inflict battle damage."

"True."

Kira pointed at the black sphere overhead.

"But it can."

"The Wicked Avatar’s ATK becomes 1 point higher than the highest ATK monster on the field."

As he spoke, the sphere began to change. The black sun morphed into the form of Mars that Phantom of Chaos had copied.

[The Wicked Avatar, ATK 11250 → 11251] 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Paradox froze.

Is this... the end?

"Battle," Kira said. "The Wicked Avatar, direct attack!"

The Wicked Avatar, transformed into the Agent of Force, raised its hand to the sky. The giant hammer of black mist spun in the air, crashing down with unstoppable force.

Paradox stared at the hammer, feeling the divine dread, his vision starting to blur.

"I’m sorry, Z-ONE.

I’m sorry, everyone.

Looks like I’ll be leaving first."

[Paradox, LP 1250 → 0]
