Chapter 475: Chapter 475: Adina 28
Soon, large beads of sweat dotted the foreheads of Lisi, Lilith, and Eliv. Lisi and Eliv were defeated one after another, leaving only Lilith struggling to hold on.
But Lilith found it a bit strange. She had used a lot of Magic Power during the second trial, and based on her experience, it should take two days of cultivation to fully recover it.
’How have I used so much Magic Power, yet it’s still not depleted? Could it be that even the heavens are on my side?’ Thinking this, Lilith pushed even harder, increasing her output of Magic Power.
The chief Mage glanced at Lilith, whose face was flushed red. Although he was dissatisfied with her past performance, what could he do now that things had come to this?
Cutting off Lilith’s Magic Power, the chief Mage sighed softly. "The final winner of this Saintess selection is Lilith Edmunds. The Divine Hall will announce this news to the public shortly. Congratulations, young Mage."
"The Saintess succession ceremony will be held after you return from the forbidden grounds. I hope you will have a fruitful experience there."
With the dust settled, Lilith’s smile was radiant. "I will heed your teachings, believe in the God of Light with all my heart, and strive to become an outstanding Mage."
When it came to pleasing people, Lilith was an absolute master. After all, she had managed to make Dumont and Catherine dote on her from a young age. In a small society like the Divine Hall, she was like a fish in water.
Seeing Lilith win, Tan You couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Her efforts to help Lilith cheat hadn’t been in vain. Given Lilith’s skill level, although she was a two-star Mage, her cultivation wasn’t even as solid as the one-star Mages Lisi and Alina.
If Tan You hadn’t secretly stuffed Magic Power recovery and replenishment scrolls into her magic robe, Lilith would have likely been the first candidate to be eliminated.
"Everyone is tired after several trials. Lilith, go back and recover your Magic Power for now. I will take you to the Divine Hall’s forbidden grounds tomorrow. Go and prepare."
After giving a few instructions, the chief Mage led the other Mages around to the back of the Divine Hall. But how could Lilith possibly be in the mood to cultivate right now? She couldn’t wait to tell Andre and her parents that she had successfully become the Saintess of Light.
The chief Mage hadn’t said she couldn’t leave, so after returning to her room to change, Lilith left the Divine Hall of Light. Tan You chuckled softly. ’I was just wondering how I’d make my move inside the Divine Hall. This is perfect. It saves me a step.’
Just as Lilith stepped out of the Divine Hall of Light, she was stopped by a blond, green-eyed man. He gave her a gentle smile. "Lilith, congratulations on becoming the Saintess of Light. I knew you could do it."
Lilith smiled reservedly. "Your Highness, the Third Prince, what brings you here? You certainly get news quickly."
Andre bowed and kissed the back of her hand. "An event as major as the Saintess trial is something I would naturally keep a close eye on. Are you heading home? Allow me to escort you."
Lilith paused, then her smile grew even wider. "The honor is mine. Thank you, Your Highness."
Andre said, "We’ve known each other for so long. You can just call me by my name."
Lilith readily agreed. "Alright, Andre."
Tan You followed behind Andre’s carriage procession, watching as Lilith periodically lifted the curtain to speak with him. Anyone who saw them would say they were a perfect match.
Andre and Lilith were not engaged, after all, so after escorting her to the Edmunds estate, he returned to the Imperial Palace with his large retinue. Dumont and Catherine, who had been waiting for a long time, rushed forward with joyful expressions.
Catherine took Lilith’s arm, beaming so brightly she practically trembled with joy. "This is wonderful, Lilith! Mother is so happy for you."
Dumont nodded as well. "Becoming the Saintess of Light is an honor for our Edmunds family. The entire family is happy for you. From now on, you must cultivate diligently..."
Catherine was more concerned with matters of the heart. "She’s the Saintess now, of course she’ll cultivate diligently. What did His Highness the Third Prince say? Did he mention when he would come to propose marriage?"
Lilith couldn’t hide the delight in her eyes. "He said he would speak to the Queen once he returned, after I am formally instated as the Saintess of Light."
Catherine clapped her hands. "Wonderful! That’s truly wonderful! Hurry inside, what does it look like, standing at the door..."
「That evening.」
Lilith finally escaped her life as a social butterfly and returned to her bedroom. Even Tan You couldn’t help but sigh. ’This life of socializing is so boring. It’s a wonder Lilith and Catherine thrive in it like fish in water.’
Taking off the jewelry from her ears and wrists, Lilith looked into the mirror. The next second, she saw another person appear behind her. The figure wore a black Mage’s robe and stood silently, watching her with an inscrutable gaze.
Lilith froze in terror and whipped around. "Adina? What are you doing here?"
"How kind of you to remember me," Tan You chuckled. "I’m here on my own business, of course."
Before Lilith could ask another question, she was knocked unconscious and collapsed onto the carpet. Tan You looked at her own slender arms and legs and let out a TSK. Suddenly, a voice came from the window. "Need a hand?"
Tan You glanced over at the source—a miniaturized Griffin. "What took you so long?"
The Griffin protested, "The Imperial City is crawling with the Divine Hall’s lackeys! It wasn’t easy for me to get here at all. The raven wanted to come, but with that tiny body of his, what could he possibly do?"
"You can’t expect the unicorn, the Netherworld Snake, or the saber-toothed tiger to help you carry someone. In the end, you still have to rely on me."
Tan You shot it a glare. "I only said one thing, and you had that whole speech ready for me."
The Griffin shook its head, then glanced disdainfully at Lilith’s limp form on the carpet. As a last resort, it hooked its claws into her dress and prepared to leave the Edmunds estate.
The Griffin was confident it could carry a person away without having to use any spells.
"You... be careful with everything." Before leaving, the Griffin was still a little worried. Although Tan You was a Five-star Mage, in their eyes, she was still too weak.
"I value my life, you know. Now hurry up and go." Tan You waved her hand. "Hide her somewhere good. Letting her die so quietly would be getting off too easy. Some debts need to be settled slowly, while she’s still alive."
"Quite the grudge-holder, aren’t you?" The Griffin flapped its wings. "I’m off. I hope the next news I hear is good news."
Watching the Griffin carry Lilith away into the distance, Tan You finally sat down at the vanity.
"Aside from being a bit paler, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between me and Lilith."
Beauty System: "Well, you are twins. The resemblance is a given."
Tan You smiled too. "Good thing we got the Key of Light. Our planning these past few days is finally showing some results."
