Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Yue Ming 19
Liuu Yuming suddenly looked smug. "My daughter is so amazing. My plan to live off my kid can start even sooner."
Liuu Min smiled. Although Liuu Yuming was always talking about living off her kid, she was actually a very hard worker. Liuu Yuming was the main breadwinner of the family, and since Liuu Min was still a student, her mother was the one supporting her.
Besides, even if Liuu Yuming stopped working today, their savings were more than enough for the two of them. Liuu Yuming talked about living off her kid all the time, but it was really just talk.
If you actually made her take time off, she wouldn’t be able to sit still.
"Let’s see... I have to go to the training school in S City to teach the day after tomorrow." Liuu Min carried her small handbag, letting Liuu Yuming link arms with her.
"You’ll be gone for a good month, so don’t you complain about me hardly being home during my winter and summer breaks."
Liuu Yuming said, "I’m not complaining, I just feel... isn’t your life a little too austere? Girls your age are all out having fun, but you’re the only one who likes to stay cooped up in a lab."
"Speaking of which, what do you like? Do you want to be a researcher in the future?"
"Definitely not," Liuu Min said, her eyes crinkling into a smile. "I’m going to be a CEO. Developing those cosmetics is just my hobby. I think it’d be more fun if I turned my hobby into a career."
"Just like you. You love makeup, so you went into this industry. All these years, you’ve been teaching at training schools and entering all sorts of beauty competitions. When a hobby becomes a career, it can sometimes be more relaxing and fulfilling."
Liuu Yuming thought about it and had to agree. "That’s true. When I’m not home, you can go to your Grandma Guihong’s for meals..."
Liuu Min smiled. "I know. Usually, if I lose track of time, Grandma Guihong will come over and call me for dinner. I don’t really like going, though. Grandma Guihong is always talking about how Uncle Jun is over thirty and still not married."
Liuu Yuming reacted instantly. "Oh, then never mind. Your Grandma Guihong is desperate for a grandchild right now."
Ever since Liuu Jun and Liuu Yuming started their business venture, his mother had been nagging him to start a family. She’d been at it since he was twenty, and now he was twenty-nine. In the blink of an eye, nearly a decade had passed, but Liuu Jun’s love life simply wasn’t blossoming.
In reality, Liuu Jun was only 29, but they calculated age using the traditional system. Plus, with his birthday being late in the year, he was already considered 31. No wonder his mother was so anxious.
Liuu Min said, "I think it’s because Uncle Jun’s horizons have broadened over the years, and he’s just too busy. It’s hard to find someone on his wavelength. I think Uncle Jun is a bit of a romantic; he needs someone who connects with him on a deeper, emotional level."
"You’re just a kid, how do you know so much?" Liuu Yuming laughed. "I think it might be because Jun has seen a lot of the dark side of things over the years, so he doesn’t have high hopes for marriage and love."
Liuu Min found it funny. "So the two of you, who no longer believe in marriage, are actually in the wedding industry. It’s kind of ironic when you think about it."
Liuu Yuming’s expression turned serious. "I don’t disbelieve in marriage, I just don’t believe in myself. Love is still a wonderful thing. I still encourage you to date."
"I’m not even an adult yet," Liuu Min rolled her eyes. "Mom, I’ve realized you can be pretty unreliable sometimes."
Liuu Yuming protested, "How am I unreliable? Since you were little, have I ever stopped you from doing anything you wanted? And another thing, you’re calling me ’Mom’ now. You used to call me ’Mommy’ all the time. It’s true what they say; when daughters grow up, they’re not as close to their mothers anymore."
Liuu Min felt a headache coming on. "Mom, you’re so dramatic."
"I’m only like this in front of you," Liuu Yuming’s expression changed in an instant. "In front of outsiders, I’m very composed."
As she spoke, Liuu Yuming was also calculating. "I remember we bought an apartment in S City a few years ago. It was an off-plan property back then. If I recall, it should be ready for handover now. Since I’m going there, I want to take a look at the renovation and design."
"This is a huge job. I estimate I might not be back for two months."
"For your college applications... should I come back from S City?"
Liuu Min immediately refused. "No need, I have my own plan. You just focus on your business in S City. Grandma’s at home, and she’s way more reliable than you."
Instead of being ashamed, Liuu Yuming looked rather proud. "Of course, your grandma is the most reliable! In that case, I’ll just wait for you in S City. I need to look at properties again anyway. We’ll need a place to stay there."
Liuu Min smiled. She thought her mom’s optimistic and outgoing personality was really great. It made her very easy to be around.
「On Sunday morning」
Liuu Yuming was dragging her suitcase and driving to S City alone. Over the years, her and Liuu Jun’s business had grown bigger and bigger. She had bought a small car for commuting long ago and was now an experienced driver.
As their business gradually expanded, the way Liuu Yuming and Liuu Jun interacted didn’t change much. Their old bridal salon had long since developed into a chain, and the cosmetics line they partnered on with Liu Meili was also doing exceptionally well.
Not to mention, Liuu Yuming also had a clothing factory she worked with. In fact, during this training trip, she would have to find time to check on the factory’s operations.
Liuu Yuming had always been in charge of only the technical aspects and the clothing designs. As for everything else, Liuu Jun and Liuu Min handled it. She was purely a hands-off boss.
Unfortunately, no matter how wonderful her plans had seemed on the road, Liuu Yuming was immediately plunged into a whirlwind of activity upon arriving in S City. There were numerous classes at the training school, and on top of that, she had to coordinate with a design firm about the apartment renovation. For a while, she was completely swamped.
When Liuu Jun came to find her, Liuu Yuming looked particularly haggard. "I never knew renovating a place was this exhausting."
Liuu Jun teased her, "As long as you pay enough, what can’t be done?"
Liuu Yuming shot him a look. "President Liuu, throwing your money around, are we? So, what brings you here?"
Liuu Jun wiped his face. "Our mom gave me an ultimatum. If I don’t get married by the end of this year, she’s going to disown me. I really can’t stay at home anymore."
Liuu Yuming said, "Little Min is already fourteen. Your older brother’s kids are married and have children of their own, but you’re still single. It’s understandable that your mom is anxious."
Liuu Jun said, "It’s not that I don’t want to find someone, it’s just that something’s always missing. Forget it. I’ll hide out at your place for some peace and quiet first. Sis, if you’re too busy, how about I handle the renovation design stuff for you? My place needs renovating too, coincidentally."
Liuu Yuming gave a half-smile. "Isn’t that inappropriate? Having such a big-shot president oversee renovations for me? It’s beneath you."
"Hah, what’s so beneath me? You’re my big sis," Liuu Jun grinned. "Don’t I know your aesthetic? Don’t worry, I guarantee I’ll make it look gorgeous for you."
Liuu Yuming was happy to hand the matter over to Liuu Jun. "Fine. For Little Min’s room, ask her for her ideas later. Say, should I buy another apartment here? Little Min is growing up, she should have her own space."
Liuu Jun was nonchalant. "If you want to buy, then buy. We can buy a few and rotate living in them. How about this, I’ll go look at properties tomorrow, and we can decide together."
