Chapter 18: Yang Hao Witness the Gruesome Sight

Yang Hao went outside, and everywhere he looked, he saw only blood, flesh, and bones. The overwhelming scent of blood and the gruesome scene before him were too much to bear.

Only because of Yu Ruyi's spell was he able to stay calm and avoid fainting or vomiting. The sight was too much for him, so he tried not to look, but...

"Open your eyes. Look. If this shakes you, then how will you grow stronger? You won't always have my spell to keep you calm. Face it. Accept it."," Yu Ruyi told him.

Even though he didn't want to, Yang Hao had no choice but to observe the gruesome scene as he headed toward his clan's Head Office.

He stepped through rivers of blood, feeling the chunks of flesh squish beneath his feet as he carefully avoided bones while walking forward. Along the way, he saw his brothers and sisters. They were fully intact, without any visible injuries, but they lay on the ground, unconscious in pools of blood.

Yang Hao immediately ran to them and checked their breathing.

"They're fine. Just unconscious. They should wake up in a few hours." Yu Ruyi reassured him.

Yang Hao nodded, then looked around and asked, "What... what did this? Who could have done something like this?"

"Navrita went to check. She will be back soon. Don't worry."

"I'm worried... She's still weak. If something happens to her—" Yang Hao hesitated, his fists clenching. "She will be okay, right?"

"Are you worried about her?"

"Yes, I am. She's my master," Yang Hao immediately replied. Who wouldn't be worried about their master?

After a brief silence, Yu Ruyi said, "She has five years of lifespan left. If she sacrifices two years, she should be fine."

"Hm," Yang Hao nodded. He was still worried but knew he couldn't do anything about it. For now, he had to check on his father.

If his brothers and sisters were alive, then his father should be as well. He was about to leave when he stopped and looked back at his siblings.

He decided to move them to a clean place. After looking around for a while, he realized there was no clean area—everything was covered in blood, flesh, and bones. However, he spotted a locked room.

He went over, broke the lock, and found the inside to be clean. He then carried his brothers and sisters inside. Though the room became bloody due to their blood-soaked bodies, it was still better than leaving them outside. After closing the door, he continued on his way.

As he moved forward, he encountered others he knew and helped them move to safer places. While doing so, he met his uncle.

"Hao? Where have you been? What are you doing?" His uncle immediately rushed over and checked his body. After confirming that he was unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank God you're safe," his uncle sighed, then asked, "Where have you been? Your father has been worried about you for months..." He wanted to scold Yang Hao further, but now wasn't the time. He shook his head and said, "Forget it. Just go and meet your father."

"Uncle," Yang Hao spoke up after his uncle got silent, "I moved my siblings somewhere safe. They're fine. It looks like only mortals were killed—anyone with Elemental power just passed out."

His uncle nodded. "Yes," he agreed, but then suddenly stopped. He blinked and looked at Yang Hao closely, sensing the presence of elemental energy in his body. He had been too panicked and in a hurry to notice before, but now he realized—Yang Hao was no longer a mortal. Moreover, he was strangely calm in this horrifying situation, where even he was shaken.

"Wait... something's different about you. What happened while you were gone?"

"Uncle, I wasn't missing—I was hidden. Father protected me because someone was trying to kill me. During that time, I awakened my Elemental Seed." Yang Hao explained.

His uncle was shocked but knew now wasn't the time to dwell on it. "No matter what happened, I'm just glad you're alive and awakened. I don't have time to move the others—if you find anyone still breathing, take them somewhere safe. Got it?"

"Yes, Uncle," Yang Hao nodded. His uncle then walked away.

Yang Hao also continued toward his father's study. Along the way, he moved any unconscious survivors he found to safer places. He also encountered a few of his aunts and uncles.

Yang Hao had five uncles and three aunts, along with ten brothers and thirteen sisters. Including his five uncles' wives, two brothers' wives, his father, and himself, their family had a total of 30 members. This was just two generations. As for his grandfather's generation, Yang Hao knew little about them—only that his grandfather had left the family after his father became the head.

All 30 of his immediate family members were Elemental, so they should all be alive. However, there were likely other survivors from his granduncle's side of the family, though Yang Hao didn't know much about them. They, too, should have survived.

Soon, he met with his father, who had already sent everyone in the True Elemental Stage to assess the damage. His father told him to wake up everyone who was unconscious and start cleaning up the place.

As for why he remained conscious while the others, despite being at a higher stage, were not—it was because of Yu Ruyi. However, he couldn't reveal that, so Yang Hao could only say that he might be special. His father nodded, not pressing him for answers.

However, one thing was clear—every mortal in Orange Wood City had been killed.
