The next moment, Ye Yu lightly snapped his fingers, directing the Shen Yu Kongxin Jue (Divine Mind-Control Art) at the immortal before him.
The man trembled all over, and a flash of red light appeared in his eyes.
Then he pushed through the crowd and, in a diving motion, leapt down through the passage. His posture was flawless, but his somewhat obese frame was, frankly, a bit unpleasant to look at.
After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Ye Yu saw the familiar environment of the Demon Realm through the immortal’s vision. Yes—this was indeed the passage between the Heavenly Realm and the Demon Realm. Since the three ladies wished to return and take a look, why not?
Ye Yu immediately led Bai Xichu, Bai Miaoleng, Pei Chuxia, and the others straight forward. Once inside the passage, the space became exceedingly vast. Even though they were falling at tremendous speed, there was little discomfort.
As time passed, the demonic aura below grew ever purer. Bai Xichu and Bai Miaoleng couldn’t help feeling a surge of excitement—could they really go back now? But Ye Yu frowned slightly at this point. He raised his hand and formed several defensive arrays.
Seeing this, Pei Chuxia asked in puzzlement, “Husband, is there danger below?”
Ye Yu nodded, then quietly reassured them, “It’s fine. Don’t worry.” Although he said that, Bai Xichu still casually drew out her Demon Sword. Bai Miaoleng, unable to argue with Bai Xichu now, moved behind her companion.
There was no helping it. Among the three of them, her cultivation was the lowest—no matter how diligently she cultivated, she had only barely entered the Nascent Soul Realm. Meanwhile, Bai Xichu and Pei Chuxia had both reached the Xianjun Realm. Such cultivation, even now, was quite respectable.
Soon, the four appeared in the familiar Demon Realm. Before they could steady themselves, innumerable techniques swept toward them. At once, the formation Ye Yu had set up activated, forming a giant shield of light that repelled all attacks. Two breaths later, the four figures vanished in an instant. When they reappeared, they were atop a demon mountain some ten li away!
Only then did Bai Xichu, Bai Miaoleng, and Pei Chuxia see that hundreds of demon cultivators had gathered near the passage. Each was lying in wait to slay any immortals coming down from the Heavenly Realm. On the ground, those brave—or reckless—immortals had all fallen into helpless defeat, including the steady immortal Ye Yu had chosen.
Bai Miaoleng frowned slightly. “Why strike without even asking the reason?”
Pei Chuxia whispered, “The enmity between the Demon Realm and the Heavenly Realm has existed for ages. Every Demon Lord has considered assaulting the Heavenly Realm their duty. Didn’t you, when you were the Demon Son in the mortal world, think the same?”
At her words, Bai Miaoleng immediately smiled brightly. Indeed, Pei Chuxia was right. My reason for remaining in the mortal world back then was only to use it as a stepping-stone; my ultimate goal was to strike the Heavenly Realm and restore the Demon Realm’s glory. After all, our ancestors attempted the same countless times—only to fail. The will remained, though. Now that immortals dared descend into the Demon Realm, naturally they must be slain to weaken Heavenly Realm forces and contribute to future campaigns.
Bai Xichu, who had said nothing, raised an eyebrow and whispered, “Sisters, we should reveal our demonic aura quickly. I can already sense a ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ large force of demons approaching.”
At once, Bai Miaoleng and Pei Chuxia tore off their disguises, letting thick demonic qi swirl around them. Ye Yu, in turn, concealed his immortal power completely. Sure enough, hundreds of demons advanced in a mighty wave. Leading them was a cultivator at the half-step Demon Emperor Realm. Sensing Bai Xichu and Pei Chuxia’s demonic aura, he withdrew his attention and pressed on.
Once the demons had gone, Ye Yu’s expression grew grave. If Pei Chuxia’s reasoning held true, the reopening of the passage between the two realms might not be good news. It could even spark war between the realms. If that happened, the Heavenly Realm would become far more perilous. I’m not afraid myself, but so many of my ladies have yet to ascend—and their power could not withstand a demon horde. What should I do?
Pei Chuxia, noticing Ye Yu’s concern, hurriedly asked, “Husband, what’s wrong? What are you worrying about?”
Ye Yu did not hide his thoughts and laid out his fears. Upon hearing them, Pei Chuxia smiled. “You’re overthinking! A war between the realms is a grave matter—it won’t start so quickly. Simple: no Demon Lord wants to be cannon fodder.”
Bai Xichu nodded. “Indeed. Take my former realm, Dongyao Prefecture, for example. The demons there were numerous, but if I led them first against the Heavenly Realm, we’d be nothing but fodder. It’s like an immortal sect wanting to wipe out an entire demon tribe—pure fantasy. If war comes, all the Demon Lords must unite, but each regards himself supreme. Getting them to obey takes countless squabbles and delays.”
After their explanation, Ye Yu nodded thoughtfully. Perhaps I was worrying too soon. Relieved, he asked if there was anywhere they wished to go so he could show them around. Yet Bai Xichu, Bai Miaoleng, and Pei Chuxia all fell silent. Where to go? Dongyao Prefecture? That might feel unfamiliar now, as new Demon Lords would have taken charge. Bai Miaoleng felt the same—though she once longed to return, now she wasn’t sure where to go. Pei Chuxia, having avenged her great grievance, had no attachments left.
In unison, the three shook their heads. Their synchronicity exasperated Ye Yu—sure enough, women’s interests change fast!
Ye Yu pondered briefly and made his decision. He would send the three of them back first, while he stayed behind to investigate how the passage between the Demon and Heavenly Realms had reopened. Was the Great Era truly approaching, as the Demon Sovereign claimed? Or had some great power remade the passage by terrifying force?
