“Know this: the situation now was entirely different from before!

Previously, although Gu Ji endured the heart demon’s torment, she still retained sovereignty over her body. But now the heart demon held complete dominion. What good was it to strip away the displayed negative emotion points? It could not affect the demon’s existence—after all, negative emotion points could regenerate!

Ye Yu watched the number above Gu Ji’s head fall to zero and then begin climbing again. He frowned. This meant he could farm negative emotions here indefinitely, but it did nothing for his mood—because what he wanted was his wife Gu Ji, not this heart-demon-possessed Gu Ji.

The heart-demon Gu Ji sensed the change and raised an eyebrow at Ye Yu. “Originally, months ago, I might have taken full control of this body—if you hadn’t sucked all my negative emotion points away, forcing me to rebuild my strength from scratch. I’m really curious: how did you manage that?”

Ye Yu’s expression turned grave, and he said coldly, “If you walk out of my wife’s body, I’ll tell you, how about that?”

The heart-demon Gu Ji laughed softly. “Why should I? I’m a heart demon, yet this body belongs to me too. Why cast me out? How about I become your wife instead?”

In a flash, she appeared beside Ye Yu, tracing his cheek with a finger and whispering in his ear, “I know how to make you happier than she ever could. If you don’t believe me, feel free to try.”

Ye Yu reached out to seize her—but his hand grasped empty air. Turning, he saw the heart-demon Gu Ji behind Shen Fuxin, her arms wrapping around the other woman. “By the way, I never asked—how did you two end up together? Men and their double talk... My original body told me it was fine for you to be with Shen Fuxin, yet you refused. And what did you do in secret? You two still got together. Silly you...”

Shen Fuxin shuddered. Ye Yu had refused? Even if Gu Ji didn’t object, he didn’t want to be with her? A pang of defeat struck Shen Fuxin’s heart—until she felt freezing cold at her neck.

She looked down to see the heart-demon Gu Ji’s right hand transformed into a sharp claw against her throat. “My husband,” the demon cooed, “I truly have no time to waste here. If you don’t want to watch your new love die, step aside and let me go. Otherwise, she dies first—you follow. It may be messy, but the end is inevitable!”

Ye Yu flicked his fingertips and said lightly, “And if I refuse?”

“Then forget it!” snarled the heart demon, lunging to slay Shen Fuxin—only to be stopped mid-strike by a powerful resistance. A breeze caressed the scene, and a single tear fell onto the demon’s wrist.

The heart-demon Gu Ji frowned. What was ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) this? Why did a surge of grief rise in her heart? Tears fell uncontrollably despite herself. Before she could ponder more, the breeze swelled into a gale, forcing her to release Shen Fuxin to steady her balance.

Freed, Shen Fuxin was sucked toward Ye Yu by a strong pull—but she didn’t move too close; she even retreated half a step. Ye Yu did not notice this small gesture, for his entire focus was on controlling the Resentful Wind.

He could not employ Hell of Fear, Despairing Forest, or Flying Waterfall Three Thousand Feet here—they were too overwhelming for Gu Ji. Instead, he chose the gentler Resentful Wind, forging its currents into chains that bound the heart-demon Gu Ji.

But she had already reached the Heavenly God Realm—she would not be restrained so easily. With a roar, a colossal golden lion phantom erupted—Gu Ji’s divine art Lion’s Roar Across Heaven. The golden shockwave surged outward like a tidal wave, shattering the Resentful Wind chains.

She bared her ferocity, ready to savage them both—when Ye Yu suddenly appeared behind her. He drew from his Storage Ring a rope suffused with starlight and flung it over the heart demon.

As the rope appeared, the stars above gleamed with newfound brilliance, and the strand itself came alive, wrapping Gu Ji so tightly she could not move. This artifact was called Starfall. Though it looked like a glittering rope, it was, in truth, a fragment of actual starlight. Legend said that a great Divine Realm master, drunk one night, lost his belt—and so severed a length of heavenly star to fashion a new girdle. Whether true or not, Starfall was perfect for binding divine beings. Ye Yu had obtained it from Han Qianzhang, who claimed no god or demon had ever escaped its bonds.

It was indeed powerful—though it took ten breaths of charging starlight before it could bind. Nevertheless, it had performed magnificently: the heart-demon Gu Ji was utterly immobilized.

Ye Yu strode forward and lifted her easily, then turned to Shen Fuxin. “I really don’t know how to expel a heart demon. Do you know of any method?”

Shen Fuxin’s expression grew awkward, as if hiding something. Ye Yu repeated his question when she did not answer at first.

After a moment’s thought, she spoke softly, “I have no sure way to dispel a heart demon either, but I know someone who might help—Xue Hen of the Ji Yue Pavilion.”

“Ji Yue Pavilion?” Ye Yu asked. “Is she reliable?”

“I’ve met her a few times. She should be. Otherwise...”

Before Shen Fuxin could finish, Ye Yu interrupted, “Then we’ll go find her!”

Shen Fuxin hesitated. She had intended to send Ye Yu alone to Xue Hen—she no longer wished to be involved.
