Chapter 933: You Still Got To Eat
I balanced the plate of steak and potatoes with boiled greens on the tray I was holding while three shepherd dogs crowded around me to follow me to Nerissa’s room.
They were all wagging their tails and crowding around my legs that were floating just an inch above the ground, continuously rubbing their sides against me.
I stopped in front of the door and let my feet touch the ground, giving the dog I placed there to watch the door a pat on the head which made her give me a happy bark.
I then turned towards the door and pressed on the console panel to the side which would give the occupant a buzz to let them know that I was outside.
I waited patiently for an answer but when no answer came, I tapped on the console again.
Of course, I was totally not expecting her to open the door at all, given how she knew there were dogs that would quite literally shred her to pieces if I asked them to that were just sitting outside the door.
This ringing thing was just me messing with her.
I cleared my throat to speak through the intercom, "Ahem, Nerissa~ You got to eat you know? Come on and open the door~"
I had to look away to suppress a snicker at how I was speaking like some evil villain taunting their victim right now.
The dichotomy of how she must be shivering in fear in her room while I’m standing outside with four dogs looking up at me and wagging their tails happily was not lost on me.
The silence continued to stretch past the minute mark and I pressed on the intercom button again.
"Open up Nerissa~ Wakey wakey~ If you’re not opening up, I’m coming in anyway, you know?"
I was honestly expecting her to stay cooped up inside and refuse to open the door, so I was quite surprised to see the door slowly slide open and a rather terrified looking Nerissa peeking out from behind the doorframe.
"I... I’m sorry... Please... Please don’t kill me..." She pleaded, quite literally shaking in fear.
Her hair was quite a mess and I think she had been crying in fear the entire time and I see scratch marks on her arms where she must have been hugging herself tightly to assure herself that she was still alive.
Oh wow... I actually feel bad for her now.
I lifted up the plate of food in my hand, "What are you talking about? You didn’t come for dinner so I decided to bring some over for you. Here you go!"
Her eyes shifted down from my face to rest on the plate of steaming hot steak, then shifted lower to.. Huh... To pause at my boobs.
Only to move the rest of the way down to look at the four doggos that were crowding around my feet and wagging their tails happily, their eyes all looking up at me and expecting head pats.
The woman sucked in a breath and her body tensed up visibly at the sight of the dogs before she snapped her eyes back up towards me again, the fear in her eyes clearly projected.
"Plea... Please... I... I don’t want to die..."
I looked down at the plate I was holding before looking back up at her with a smile, "Oh, don’t worry, it’s not poisoned. You can eat it, see?"
I picked up the fork and scooped a little of the potatoes to place inside my mouth, relishing the taste of it before swallowing for her to see.
"See? It’s perfectly fine."
She looked down at the dogs that were at my feet, "This... This is meant to be my last meal... Right? That’s why... What’s why you even used organic ingredients..."
Oof... Ok, I can see why she would think that way. I guess I’ve gotten so used to eating organic food that I forget most people aren’t used to them.
Wait a minute... Isn’t she someone from the Inner Colonies? So she should be used to organic food right? Then this shouldn’t be the... Oh... She’s thinking that because we’re Mercs, organic food should be something of a luxury to us so the fact that I’m offering some to her must be something big...
I gave her a pointed look, "We eat organic food on a daily basis. Don’t think that I’m giving you special treatment or anything."
She looked down at the steak again, then looked further down at the dogs at my feet.
"I can threaten you to eat it if you want?" I offered her.
As though understanding my thoughts, the dogs at my feet turned to stare at her, their tails no longer wagging.
She froze for a moment before she slowly stepped away from the door.
I took that as a sign of welcoming me inside so I stepped past the door and entered her room.
Of course, the dogs followed me in as well so Narissa was pressed up against the far corner of the room.
Since I was worried she might bolt out of the room, I left the dog who had been guarding the door behind, the dog sitting on its haunches and panting cutely as she watched me walk past Nerissa.
I went over to the study desk that was tucked in the other corner of the room and placed the plate of steak there.
I then turned to nod at her, "Well? Go on."
Her eyes darted to the table, then to me, then to the door like she was planning to run away.
Good thing the dog was still seated there so she could not run out even if she wanted to.
She gulped audibly and turned back to me, "What... What do you want with me?"
I gestured to the plate on the table like I was showing something obvious, "To eat? What else do you think I want? There’s literally food right here and I brought it to you."
"You... You’re trying to feed me..."
"You are my guest on this ship, right? So of course I have to feed you."
She looked at me like I had just told her something that was inconceivable.
I shrugged, "If it makes you feel better..."
I whistled and the dogs understood my intentions.
Four of them ran towards her and let out a threatening growl, causing her to let out a yelp in surprise and jump a little.
She dove across her bed to get away from them, but in doing so, she rolled over to stop exactly beside me and I grinned at her when she realised what she did.
"How nice, you changed your mind about eating it after all? Here you go."
She opened her mouth to speak but stopped when she noticed the dogs had moved to surround her and were still growling at her.
She bowed her head before slowly sitting down in front of the study table in front of me.
That was when she paused to look at me again, her eyes drifting to the tentacles that were sprouted out from my lower back.
I hissed at her, "Don’t worry about it."
To match my threat, the dog beside me let out a threatening growl.
The woman let out a startled yelp and turned back to the food, lowering her head so that she didn’t have to see me or the dogs in her peripheral vision.
But because of that, it brought her face close to the steak and the smell of the food wafted up to her nose, making her shudder visibly at the fragrant, mouth watering smell of meat and potatoes.
Her hunger won over her caution immediately as she picked up the fork and knife, her hands trembling slightly before she cut a small piece of the meat.
She then lifted it up to her lips and she hesitated for just a second before she placed the meat inside her mouth.
The effects were almost instantaneous as she let out a rather lewd moan before her body completely relaxed, completely forgetting that there were four dogs behind her that were growling at her not too long ago.
She then immediately started cutting another piece, shoving it in her mouth and that was when all her resistance melted away and she started shoving the food in her mouth like her life depended on it.
Seeing that she was no longer resisting, I dug out some dried meat that I made specifically for the dogs and fed that to the four dogs, all of them eating it out of my hand happily and letting out happy barks.
She was so lost in the food that she didn’t even register the fact that there were four dogs barking happily behind her.
Well... I’m pretty sure that once the food was gone, she would return back to normal again.
I wonder how she will deal with her new position after this?
