Chapter 914: A Lot Of Insurgent Ships

"So... You had another cosplay session yesterday night I see~" Amber giggled, my lover leaning on the armrest of my Captain’s chair as I relaxed in it.

I was just about to ask her what she was talking about when I realised that she most likely thought that Vier and I were having another photoshoot session because she was screaming inside her room again.

Well...

I scratched my cheek, "Umm... Not this time... We err... I slept with her..."

Amber gasped, "Ehhh? Really? Oh my gosh... If I knew I would have placed the cam-- Err... Nevermind~"

Renata suddenly popped out from my chest, "That woman recorded the entire thing~"

Renata? Why are you telling her that?

Amber’s face lit up and I felt a chill go down my spine for some reason.

Just for the record... I also asked Vier for a copy of the video she recorded because... Well... I guess there’s no other way to say it but I thought she was really sexy during our first time so I wanted to keep it for memory’s sake.

She was more than happy to give me a copy of it for my own use-- Err... I mean my own keepsake, so yeah, I have that video currently stored in my Codex right now in a secret folder.

Well... If Amber was going to ask for it too... I’m not sure if that was a goo--

Alarms suddenly rang out and I snapped my attention back to the front of the ship.

"Daddy!! Incoming interdiction pulse!!"

"Everyone! Brace for impact!!"

The alarms continued for a moment more before the entire ship lurched as we were forced out of our Travel Speeds.

"Give me a wide area scan, now!" I ordered even while I was righting myself in my seat.

There was a distinct ping sound and a screen appeared above my armrest, showing the area around my ship as a map.

I found myself looking at sixteen red dots that were rapidly approaching us from the edge of the map, clearly heading towards us to intercept.

"Renata?" I called out, looking at my eldritch maid that was seated in the pilot seat.

"Scans indicate they are Insurgent ships, Daddy! One D Class Destroyer, two C Class Medium Freighters converted to Fighter Carriers, three C Class Corvettes and ten B Class Heavy Fighters!"

Shit... That’s a lot of firepower they have there...

The doors to the bridge opened and the rest of my girls quickly rushed in, having ran here after the alarm sounded.

"What’s the situation, Mistress?" Yumiko asked, taking her space at the communications console.

"Insurgent ships... Sixteen of them. They’re on an intercept course," Amber helped me explain.

Lea immediately powered up the weapons and turned them to target the incoming ships, her face visibly tightening when she saw the enemy ships that we were facing.

"What are our odds?" I asked.

"We won’t get out of this unscathed..." Lea admitted.

If she was also saying that, then we’re really in a bad spot then...

"How long for us to charge up our Travel Drives again?!"

"At least ten minutes, Daddy!"

Amber looked up from the map, "They’ll be within range of us in two minutes, Tera..."

I tapped on my Codex to make a call to Ries, the catgirl answering almost immediately when the call connected.

"Ries, can you get the Travel Drives up and running as soon as possible?!"

"Ahhh... Umm... If I were to reroute the power systems from the auxiliary systems over temporarily... Then switch out the power cells... Then we initiate an emergency jump... I can get them up and running in five minutes, Boss!!"

That means we would just need to hold them off for three minutes before we can get out of here.

"Do it! Amber, let’s get to our ships!"

Amber grimaced, "That’s not a good idea, Tera... If we split off from the ship, we might end up getting completely separated if the ship initiates an emergency jump... The emergency jump will send the ship flying off in a random direction so it’s best if we stick together here..."

Damnit...

"Focus on evasive manoeuvres! Lea, keep them away as much as possible! Fire at will!"

As soon as she got the command, she pulled the trigger, firing the first volley of our high Intensity lasers that pierced through several of the B Class Heavy fighters in a single beam.

Five explosions lit up in the distance and the Insurgents quickly scattered to avoid bunching up together.

The two Medium Freighters then launched out their fighter squadrons of twelve fighters each and all of them joined the charge towards us.

The D Class Destroyer turned to point the bow of its ship towards us before a beam of light came flashing towards us.

Our shield materialised right as the beam struck against it, the energy dissipating against the shield and disappearing before it could hit us.

I looked at another screen to the side that was showing the ship’s status, frowning when I saw that our shield dropped by forty percent.

We could only take another two more hits before our shield collapsed.

"Lea! Target that De--"

I didn’t get to finish my words before the three Corvettes fired their lasers at us as well, striking our shield on our broadside.

I looked at the shield percentage of the ship drop to fifty percent.

Shit... Screw it.

"Lea! Fire another shot at the smaller ships with everything we got!!"

She obeyed, pulling the trigger again and shooting not only the lasers but also the railguns as well.

That wiped out all the B Class ships and also blew up a few of the A Class fighters, though that was obviously not enough to stop their advance.

"Renata, turn this ship and focus on getting us away!"

She obeyed, shifting the ship so that we were no longer showing our broadside to them to boost our ships away from the insurgents.

Right as the back of our ship was turned to face them, I quickly gave another order.

"Renata! Engage side thrusters! Shift the ship to the side!!"

My eldritch maid obeyed instantly and I had to hold on to the chair’s armrest as the ship suddenly changed its course to move sideways.

Right on time, the blue glow of the Destroyer’s laser flew past where our ship had been just a moment ago, piercing through empty air and missing by mere inches, scraping the surface of our shield.

Lea didn’t waste any time as the single turret that could turn to face behind the ship fired a retaliatory salvo, the kinetic round fired from the railgun speeding towards the Destroyer.

Along the way, it pierced through two more A Class fighters and turned them into nothing but debris floating into space.

The kinetic shell struck against the shield of the destroyer, barely able to do any damage to it while we sped off.

A few of the smaller ships managed to catch up to us but our point defense systems were already prepared and shot them down almost immediately when they got within range.

Still, that did not seem to stop them as they swarmed us, making me wonder just what they were fighting for to fight so fanatically.

You’re literally throwing yourselves at death, you know? Yet despite that, these guys just still continue to charge at us like they know something we didn’t.

We had to dodge the lasers being fired by the Corvettes as well and while we managed to dodge two, one of them still ended up striking the back of the ship and our shield lowered by another five percent.

We continued to evade the Insurgents’ attacks on our ship and those we couldn’t, we had to let our shield tank the hit.

Eventually, I heard a call coming from Ries and I quickly answered it before it could even ring.

"Ries? Tell me some good news..."

"I did it, Boss! We’ll be able to initialise an emergency jump in fifteen seconds!"

The numbers in question appeared on the screen and we would have to wait for it to finish before we could do the emergency jump.

I watched carefully as the jump timer counted down until it reached the number five and I was just about to call out for the others to prepare for the jump when a missile suddenly sped towards my ship and sirens started blaring about an imminent impact.

The attack ended up being an EMP wave that struck against my ship when the missile exploded, completely knocking out my ship’s systems and causing us to start drifting off course.

Shit... As if things can’t get any worse... Where the heck did that missile even come from and how did it get past our point defense?! Which ship fired that missile?!

Those thoughts were the ones running through my head as I turned to look at what the pirates would do at this point.

"Daddy? They’re trying to board us..." Renata informed us, pointing to the Destroyer that was speeding to my ship’s side.

Oh? They want to board us, huh?
