Chapter 197: We’re Not Flying Economy
The initial plan for us was to board a chartered plane to head towards Sydney... But it seems that plan had to be changed.
The aircraft that was supposed to be used for us ended up getting grounded in another airport because of a typhoon that was currently blowing through that country and thus could not reach us in time.
And since there were no other available planes that could be rerouted in such a short notice, we had to take a commercial flight there instead.
Thankfully, there were still seats available on one of the flights to Sydney and Olivia helped arrange for us to be its passengers.
But that would mean that we had to take the plane alongside other people and while the option was floated to have the seats cancelled for everyone else to have the plane for ourselves, I decided against it since I didn’t want to inconvenience everyone else just for me.
Thankfully, the suites were available so we took those for ourselves. The only problem was that there were only six of these ’seats’ and there were eleven of us including Maylene, who was also following along as a provisional Guardian to act as the leader of our auxiliary team who would be flying there separately.
Since I was against kicking out other people on the flight, what ended up happening was that they had to squeeze two people into each of those ’seats’ with myself being the only one who didn’t need to share.
And even though I said ’seats’ it’s the suites class on Singapore Airlines which meant that it was a small room by itself complete with a fold down bed and a large leather chair that could spin around freely.
This arrangement was definitely against protocol and all kinds of safety regulations but... I guess when the Mortal God was involved, all of that just becomes suggestions instead.
I did think about whether it would be a better idea if some of us went on another flight or maybe I could go over there and try opening a teleportation door for them... But for some reason everyone was against the idea and agreed that they had to accompany me no matter what.
They would really take this risk instead of being separated from me...
Well... At least the people here are all powerful people so there shouldn’t be any problems in regards to their safety.
The only problem is if they end up smashing a hole through the plane and falling outside because of turbulence...
Nah... That won’t happen, right?
That better not be a flag...
We moved through the airport to reach our boarding gate, having a police escort streamlining our boarding process and keeping the public that noticed us away.
Since no one had expected me to be here, there wasn’t a crowd waiting to see me this time but there were a few who recognised me thanks to the mask and... I suppose the rather noticeable floating gauntlets above me... They let out gasps of surprise when they saw me move past.
But either because they recognised our hurry or because there was a police escort, we were not approached and we managed to reach the boarding gate easily.
We ignored the stares from the other passengers of the same plane waiting at the boarding gate and slipped past the counter to board the plane, the stewardesses quickly taking over in guiding us to the upper deck where the suites were located.
Mine was located all the way at the front and to the right, the stewardess clearly nervous by how she was keeping her head down and bowing the entire time.
Calm down... I’m not going to eat you... Ah... But Olivia might I guess... Given how hard she was staring at the stewardess as if she was daring her to make a mistake.
I stepped into the suite and looked around, a place where I definitely would not have even thought of stepping into before this as a normal person.
Whoever thought of putting an entire bedroom inside a plane?
"Mo... Mortal God?"
I was still looking at the room when a voice came from behind me, prompting me to turn around to see the stewardess from earlier peeking in with a little apprehension on her face, clearly not knowing how she should act in front of me.
"What is it?" I asked, trying to sound as casual as possible to put her at ease.
"Would you like some champagne? And... Would you like us to lower the partition for you?"
She gestured towards the wall where the fold down bed was leaning against.
Partition? Err... Sure?
I nodded at her, "Go ahead."
She let out a sigh of relief for some reason before she looked behind her, presumably to talk to someone before she stepped inside and gave a quick bow.
I stepped aside and she went towards the wall which she first pulled down the bed before another stewardess came in with blankets and bedsheets to start laying on the bed.
Not only that, the first stewardess did something to the wall and it was lowered down to reveal the suite next to mine where Jia Lian and Leena were standing on the other side.
Oh... They allow you to combine the two ’seats’ together? I did not know this was even a thing.
Also... The single bed has turned into a double bed with this setup and both Leena and Jia Lian looked up at me with wide eyes.
I’m assuming both of them also had no idea what they were asking for when the stewardess asked to lower the partition and they told her to do so... That’s why she came over to ask me for permission as well and was afraid that I would say no and she would have to tell these two that I rejected them.
At this point, I guess it’s a little awkward to tell them to stop so all of us just let them work as they turned this into a single room while another stewardess came to pour out a glass of champagne for me.
Once they were done, they quickly retreated and left us to deal with the fact that we would now be sharing this space.
I’m pretty sure that the beds should only be set up after we were in the air but... Because of our circumstances, they had to set them up even before we took off.
Jia Lian quickly bowed, "Umm... Umm... Please forgive us, Mortal God! We... We didn’t understand what they were asking about and just said yes!"
I waved at her, "It’s alright... I did the same thing as well. But... I should be the one asking if you two are alright with this? Should I tell them to come lift up the partition again?"
Leena, who was in her bipedal form since her centaur form would obviously not fit in here, quickly shook her head, "Mortal God. If you do not mind us sharing this space with you, we definitely would not mind things staying as they are."
Hmm... That’s a surprise... But I guess they just don’t want to trouble the stewardesses like me.
Besides... It’s not like we’re going to do anything weird here... And they both know my face anyway.
Speaking of which...
My attention was drawn back to the champagne in my hand and I reached up to tap on the side of my mask.
The part that was covering my mouth retracted to allow me to bring the glass up to take a sip.
Yep~ Maylene heard about my complaints when I went to Thailand and couldn’t eat the food because of my mask and helped me make some changes to it.
While this allowed me to eat and drink without taking off my mask, Olivia was against me using it like this in front of others as she claims that even seeing the bottom half of my face might give away my identity so I shouldn’t use this if I could help it.
Maylene assured me that she would be making an even better version of it soon enough that I could use in public without giving away any part of my face so I guess I just needed to wait for that, though I’m not sure what else she could change to do that. But I guess if there’s anyone who can make it, the Bunarfs are the ones who can.
Leena sat down on her side of the bed while Jia Lian took the seat, both of them were also offered champagne but refused to take any.
A pair of slippers was also brought out for us so I took off my shoes to switch to that as I relaxed back in the plush leather seat that was on my side of the room, watching Leena and Jia Lian fumble with theirs.
So this is what it feels like huh...
It’s scary to say this but... I think I could get used to this.
