Chapter 1108: Chapter 1108 - Taming the Wall - Acknowledgment

The missing piece was...

She did not mention Luna’s marriage to Ren... And it wasn’t an oversight.

It was a calculated, deliberate omission. That was a deeply personal revelation that belonged entirely to Luna. It was a truth the princess had the right to deliver on her own terms, in her own time, not a bullet point to be rattled off in a military debrief.

At the very end of her report, Selphira addressed the one agonizing truth Sirius was desperately waiting to hear.

"Lykea... is very possible."

Selphira spoke the words with care, terrified of offering a promise she couldn’t guarantee. "But you are going to have to be patient. The boy completely shattered his own limits down there. He burned a massive amount of energy. That is not an easy process, and trying to force it while his core is recovering would be infinitely worse and riskier than simply waiting for his full recovery and the right moment."

She let that sink in.

"Your resurrection was not even a safe process, it was an absolute emergency. Selthia made a direct move to your chamber, and it is a sheer, unbelievable miracle that you survived the forced process intact." A heavy pause settled over the room. "But you can count on him to do it for her. Though, I’m sure you already know that..."

Selphira’s eyes locked onto Sirius’s, her tone dropping, carrying a profound, undeniable weight. "And remember, you owe that boy vastly more than just a simple ’thank you’."

Sirius slowly turned his head. He looked at Luna for a long, silent moment.

Then, he nodded.

He already knew what Luna wanted.

♢♢♢♢

Just before they stepped out into the hallway to visit Ren’s room, Selphira held up a hand, stopping Luna.

"Notify me the exact moment he wakes up," Selphira instructed Luna. She used the exact same measured tone she had used when requesting updates on Sirius. "In the exact same way..."

Matilda was already running through the castle, diligently notifying the long list of people who had demanded to know the second Sirius opened his eyes. The castle’s communication network was already fully active.

Matilda would be back soon and Selphira’s request was essentially a formality at this point. But she spoke it anyway, because when Selphira delivered a formality, it carried the undeniable weight of something critically important. And Luna looked incredibly distracted today...

Luna gave a tight nod of confirmation.

Sirius bid Victor a brief, respectful goodbye, moving with the quiet stiffness of a man who was still manually gathering the scattered pieces of his reality.

He looked at Selphira last, apologetically.

He didn’t speak, but his eyes carried the heavy, unspoken weight of the entire debriefing, acknowledging the massive, terrifying implications of what he had not been there to help with and what they had to do next.

He wasn’t a kid to be scolded, but he knew he deserved the idiot statue comment and much more... So he wouldn’t complain about her ’utterances’ now or in the future.

Father and daughter stepped out into the stone corridor and walked toward the room next door.

Ren’s room was significantly more crowded and chaotic than Sirius’s.

Liora and Larissa flanked the bed like an absolute, impenetrable honor guard. They stood on opposite sides of the mattress, exuding the stubborn, rooted naturalness of two people who had been standing there for hours and possessed absolutely zero intention of moving.

Lin, unsurprisingly, was already gone. Ren was safely out of the woods, and Lin was fundamentally incapable of sitting still in a quiet room when there was critical work to be done. The moment his vitals were said to be stabilized, she had immediately returned to her duties.

The rest of the Vanguard guards were scattered elsewhere in the castle. They were currently subjecting themselves to rigorous, highly invasive mana-network experiments under Wei’s manic supervision. The eccentric teacher, now also a researcher, had descended upon the new golden spore-beasts with a terrifying, technical enthusiasm, eager to dissect the mechanics of a virtually undocumented mana system.

Inside the bedroom, the only remaining guards were Maria, who was quietly keeping a watchful eye on Larissa, and Mayo, who was loudly claiming to be "guarding" Liora.

Of course, anyone with a functioning brain could tell that Mayo’s diligent "guarding" had absolutely nothing to do with protecting Liora, and everything to do with hiding from Wei. Mayo was desperately avoiding being dragged back to a laboratory to have the glowing mushroom that now could appear on her head aggressively measured and poked.

Ren’s parents stood quietly in the far corner of the room.

The frantic, blinding panic was gone. Liora had carefully, calmly explained the entire subterranean nightmare to them, a bit less realistic... She had ensured the details didn’t escalate their terror, grounding the horrifying details in the absolute reality that Larissa had completely, flawlessly healed their son’s physical body.

What remained in Fern and Reed’s eyes was simply the bone-deep, lingering exhaustion of two parents who had been forced to watch their child be dragged back from the brink of death one too many times. Fern gripped Reed’s hand tightly. Reed just let her hold it, staring silently at his son’s rising and falling chest.

Taro, Min, Liu and the rest of the friends had already come and gone.

They had barged in, confirmed with their own eyes that Ren wasn’t dead, and immediately launched into a hushed, collective sigh of relief. Min and Mayo had quietly agreed that this was just Tuesday, another classic instance of Ren violently pushing himself past the brink of human endurance and surviving purely out of that impossibly high mountain of a ’pain threshold’.

Min, however, in the end hadn’t been satisfied with a visual inspection. Driven by his usual, paranoid thoroughness, he had stubbornly insisted on personally auditing the healing spell. He had meticulously scanned Ren’s mana circuits, double-checking Larissa’s surgical work with the intense skepticism of a man who absolutely refused to trust that something was fine until his own senses confirmed it.

Larissa had dramatically rolled her eyes at his interference, but she hadn’t stopped him. In fact, she had ended up smiling. Because as annoying as Min’s paranoia was, it painted a beautiful, undeniable truth: Ren had friends who genuinely, fiercely cared about him. And in a world this broken and small, that was a rare, precious thing worth protecting.

Their visit had been abruptly cut short when Zhao stormed into the room. Had viciously scolded the boys for abandoning their posts on the defensive wall during a high-alert crisis.

Suitably chastised, everyone who didn’t have the political backing of a massive, untouchable high-house family had immediately scrambled back to the front lines.
