Chapter 677: Reform

And it is because of this the western border tribes could never have expanded inwards.

They are trapped.

It is the same reason why Valgrun with all of his talents knows he could not expand outward.

When Bolghar was there, the Khagai tribe under Valgrun could not expand, but even now when he became one of the largest tribe in the western border, even then he could not act.

The method to suppress the western border tribe is not some secret.

One might think isnโ€™t informing the enemies on the western side would make you be condemned by all the tribes in the Steppe?

After all, isnโ€™t the western border tribe are the tribes that protected the western borders? Surprisingly enough, the only one that would condemn such act would be the tribes on the western border. Any other chief on any other side of the Steppe would at most just send some strongly worded letter and would do no action.

Interest....are paramount.

The tribes of the Great Steppe would give all the respect they could give to the western border tribes.

But that is as long as they do their duty. And that duty is to protect the western border tribes.

As long as they do that, the honour that all tribes in the Great Steppe gives to the western border tribes is not lacking.

In a formal setting, even in front of Ashana, the chief of the western border tribes is always honoured.

But once they expand outwards, expanding their powers and influence inside the Steppe, then the interest of all other tribes would be disturbed.

Not to mention that the tribes of the Steppe is quite fearful of the western border tribes.

The fact is that the western border tribes always fight the empires on the western side. From Roma to Western Zhou, they fight and they beleed.

But it is this environment that created heroes and powerful warriors . and not only that. They learned the methods of their enemies.

They learned to create siege weapons, learned to employ formations, learn to forge weapons.

Suppressing the western border tribes is a political correctness of the tribes that are not western border tribes.

So, even if Aeryon uses such method of inviting western lords to come attack the western border tribe, he would not be condemned by all the tribes in the Steppe.

this is an exaggeration.

For those tribes in the Steppe, the further away you are from the Southern Great Steppe, the more it does not concern you. And for anything that do not concern you, people would rarely care.

The western border tribe in the Southern Great Steppe, once the general trend is determined, even they are powerless to overturn the matter. ๐’‡๐™ง๐™š๐“ฎ๐™ฌ๐™š๐“ซ๐’๐“ธ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ๐’.๐“ฌ๐™ค๐“ถ

The only rivals that Aeryon would have would be the Esbizuk tribe.

But before this could happen....they first have to take the west.

Chagai, Ultar and Nergui was beaten badly. But they still stand.

Whether it be the Brolgadhr or the Cha Ner Ul Alliance they are waiting for that decisive moment.

And that decisive moment would surely come

..

Aeryon is now in his tent practicing some method of martial arts. He did not forget to practice his martial arts and wrestling methods

The more he practices, the stronger he felt he become. This feeling is really hard to describe.

Though, he mut admit since the death of Chadha, he rarely goes to the front line. He is mostly inside the tent and strategizing from inside the tent

It is not that he is afraid of the battlefield.

It is also not that there is no battle

It is just that...there is no need at all for him to appear. Aeryon also knows how to position himself. He is the Khan. He can go to battle and he must go to battle.

But he is not some normal general.

He did not always need to go into every battle.

If he was determined to go into battle, why should he seek talents?

And if he goes into every battle who would dare compete merit with him?

Compete merit with your superior?

Are you so tired of life that you want to test whether the Khan sword is sharp or not?

He should learn when to join the battle and when to delegate.

Aeryon himself has never wanted to become a hands-on manager.

He should know when to delegate. He would not have created a system of reform if he simply wanted to micromanage everything

He knows that for the Steppe to transform into an empire that he envisioned, he had to reform certain things

He did not need to force certain things. He just needs to guide it slowly. And gently.

However, this is just wishful thinking to many. And Aeryon also knows as his "kingdom: become bigger and bigger, the more changes he wanted to do, the more reforms he wanted to do, the more resistance he would face

Why?

Because reform always touches the interest of those who benefited from the status quo.

Fortunately, enough for Aeryon, he come from a small tribe and there is no entrenched power.

And he could be considered the founding "ruler" of the Brolgadhr nation.

And for a founding ruler, many rules did not apply to hum and many restriction that other rulers would have does not apply.

Because he was the founding "father", the influence and power he could wield is unlimited.

And he is not just a normal founding ruler. He is the founding ruler with military power and prove kingship through the use of force.

The military power rested firmly in his hands.

He did not have powerful relative trying to control him, he did not have a court that would try to restrain him, did not have any military warlord riding over his neck. This is the advantage of founding a new kingdom and becoming the founding father or the founding ruler of a nation

Your power and influence are basically unlimited. A reform that would have the entire court in abuzz is nothing but a stone thrown into a deep empty hole. One could not even hear a word.

But most importantly, when he began his reform, Brolgadhr tribe was not as a big as it is today

When it does become bigger, those who joined later simply had to adapt to the new system and they benefited from the new system.

In other words, the reason why Aeryon reform works so well is because even though he takes many rights of certain class, these class in the beginning never existed in Brolgadhr.

The reason it works is because the interest he takes, he takes it from a non-existent class. Since there is no one there to lament the loss of rights that should have been there, no one would refute or hinder him

For example, let say there is like a reform of the aristocracy.

If in your country, there is no aristocracy from the beginning, then were is the right of aristocracy come from?

Of course, this hypothetical scenario did not make sense in the slightest.

If there is no aristocracy in the beginning, there is no need to reform aristocrat.

This example is more like if there was an aristocracy and then your people came and destroy the aristocracy, what should be the next move?

Those who had shouted for the head of the aristocrats, now defeating the aristocrats, they themselves envy the aristocrats and wanted to occupy the rights that those aristocrats had inhabited.

But let say you are the leader of these people. And you know that if you inhabit the power, the status quo would be established and in a few hundred years, it will be the time for your descendant to have their heads on a stake.

So, you know you have to reform that privileges of the aristocrats, reform the power of the aristocrats

This void period of where there is desire for aristocracy, but no aristocrat is the perfect moment to reform the power and rights of aristocracy.

Hence, the question . If in your country, there is no aristocracy from the beginning, then where is the right of aristocracy come from?

Let say you are a bunch of rebels, a bunch of butchers, horse guiders, and farmers who managed to found a kingdom after a great rebellion.

Since none of you are aristocrats and there is no class of aristocrat after you killed all of them, if you reform what it means to be aristocrats, no one would be offended or mad.

In other words, cut off some of the rights and interest and share that interest or dilute the powers and right of the aristocrats so that more people would be included in this interest sharing

But if you become the new aristocracy, give your people the rights and power of the aristocracy, later if your descendant wanted to reform this system, the aristocrat descended from butchers, horse guiders and farmers would fight you to the death

This is not a matter of right and wrong. The monarch could be the most righteous and most correct person in that argument but the nobles would never listen

Because this is a matter of interest.

And an aristocracy that had embedded itself in a society would even convince the common people that they oppress that aristocracy is good for them
