Chapter 1: Excerpt
"If my brother touched you... I need to know how much damage I’m dealing with."
Laziel didn’t budge an inch. He was dangerously close. One second, I had been standing by the office wall.
The next, both my wrists were pinned above my head.
"That is none of your business," I breathed.
"That’s no way to talk to your boss, Mireya. The man who provides everything for you." He leaned in closer, his dark eyes locking onto mine. "Lest you forget... you warmed my bed first. I’m the one funding your life. I’m even taking care of your daughter."
My breath hitched, but before I could speak, Laziel’s gaze dropped lower.
"Black looks good on you."
Confusion flashed through me. I was wearing white.
A gasp caught in my throat as his gaze dropped onto my chest. The top two buttons of my white shirt had come undone.
I twisted, wanting nothing more than to push him away, but he won’t budge.
"Let go of me."
"Not until you answer my question." Laziel buried his face into the curve of my neck, slowly and deeply inhaling my scent.
"What happened between you and Helix?"
