Chapter 340: Entering The Market Again

Vikram, who was already home, didn’t care about any of that.

At this moment, he was comfortably lying on the large sofa in the living area, with women in both arms.

"The gasoline and diesel problem is temporarily resolved. After this, the shelter is only lacking in the livestock area."

The livestock traded from the Official Shelter earlier had not been tampered with; situations like deliberately castrating buffaloes and rams had not occurred.

However, the variety of breedable species is still not enough.

Currently, wild buffaloes and sheep can mate in the territory.

He had asked about the livestock issue at Crimson Desire Shelter earlier, but Lilith’s answer was that they didn’t have any.

Whether they truly didn’t have any or just didn’t want to give them, Vikram was too lazy to delve deeper.

Vikram lowered his eyes and pondered for a while, "Currently, the only way to get these livestock is still through the Official Shelter."

"If it’s the Official Shelter, then we can only exchange them for medicine."

White Fox Shelter.

If Vikram were to pass by here, he would immediately notice that this Shelter was built underground.

Although its depth was far less than his Shelter’s, the fact that they could achieve this level with just manpower showed the strength of their Shelter.

On a tiger-skin recliner, a middle-aged man with dark circles under his eyes squinted and let out a deep yawn.

He ignored the reporting personnel who had been waiting for a long time.

He just hooked his right index finger, and a female Survivor by his side came over, obediently bending down...

Two minutes later.

"Hiss!"

"Not bad, you’ve improved. Go to the storeroom and get two crystals."

The service had just ended, and the person on the recliner kicked the person beneath him without a hint of pity, saying.

"Thank you, Brother Jade, I will continue to work hard and ensure you are satisfied every time."

The woman, who had been kicked in the face, not only had no complaints but instead knelt on the ground, expressed her gratitude, and then left.

As the woman left, the person on the recliner slowly opened his eyes, sweeping over the person who had been waiting for a long time.

Strangely, the man only glanced at his subordinate, who was responsible for reporting the news, and did nothing else, yet the subordinate’s pupils trembled, and he immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

Jade lay back on the recliner, withdrawing his gaze, and fumbled around beside him. He took out a cigarette from a small wooden box and then carefully lit it.

"Phew~"

"If you’re coming to find me, it’s usually not good news. Don’t just stand there, tell me what’s wrong. I don’t have that much patience to play staring games with you."

The subordinate swallowed, then tremblingly began to speak:

"Boss, our newly opened temporary Market was attacked."

"Besides the two guards, it seems a few customers were also attacked."

Jade took a puff of his cigarette, exhaling smoke, and raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"

"Was it the people from Crimson Desire Shelter or Aurora Shelter?"

The subordinate shook his head.

"Hmm? Could it be official personnel? That would be a bit troublesome."

"It shouldn’t be; there weren’t many footprints at the scene, and after these people attacked, it seems they didn’t even enter the Market to cause more trouble."

Jade processed the subordinate’s message, pondered for a moment, and then made a decision.

"Send a few more people to that attacked temporary Market, and also, add another patrol team to the Market for the next few days."

He had already concluded that this situation was the result of some relatively strong small Survivors being angered by his subordinates.

After all, he knew his subordinates’ character very well; such incidents were common, and there was nothing to be surprised about.

"Such a simple matter, and you still have to come to me. You guys are really becoming more and more useless. If this continues, I might have to consider replacing you with a more efficient team to work for me."

Jade said, glancing at the subordinate who had come to report.

It was just this casual glance, and the subordinate instantly felt a chill run through his body.

Their boss was notoriously unpredictable; he knew that one moment he could be speaking kindly to someone, and the next, their head could be rolling.

Unable to bear such a gaze, the subordinate quickly tried to explain, "Boss, this situation is different."

"We found this at the scene of the incident."

The subordinate took out a deformed bullet from his bag and handed it with both hands to Jade, who was leisurely lying on the chair.

"It’s just a bullet... Wait, there’s no smell of blood on it?"

"And it doesn’t look like it exploded upon hitting a blunt object?"

Seeing this, Jade immediately understood the other party’s thoughts.

"You mean, the person who caused trouble is also a survivor who can withstand bullets?"

Early the next morning, Vikram once again went to the Market, but this time he only took Divya and Anjali.

He had thought that after yesterday’s incident, Radhika and Geetanjali would probably be too scared to come again.

However, to his surprise, when Vikram arrived, they were already waiting near the Market.

"Big Shot, over here!"

Among a pile of rubble next to the Market, the petite Radhika waved her arm, signaling Vikram.

Putting the vehicle into his backpack in advance, Vikram and the two women approached on foot.

"What’s going on? Since you’re here, why didn’t you go in first to try?"

Vikram remembered that yesterday, the gatekeepers had made things difficult for them because they were new, trying to extort some crystals.

Now that they had the trading token from the Market, they should be able to pass unhindered.

"Well... although our physiques are not bad, there are also powerful Survivors in the Market, and we’re still a bit outmatched."

"Mainly, with Vikram here, we feel a bit safer, don’t we?"

Radhika smiled sweetly, and as if thinking of something, she changed the subject.

"Oh, Big Shot, it seems like the incident we caused yesterday alarmed the White Fox Shelter."

"Although the Market didn’t close because of it today, there are several more guards just at the entrance."

"But looking at how the guards are checking everyone at the entrance, they probably haven’t found out that we were the ones who took action."

Vikram looked towards the Market entrance upon hearing this, and sure enough, as she said, the guards at the entrance had suddenly increased to nearly ten.

And from a distance, their physiques were much higher than the two weaklings from yesterday.

He figured they were afraid of another attack on the Market, which would cause the White Fox Shelter to lose business.

Nodding, Vikram glanced at the four people, then stepped towards the Market entrance.

Strangely, this time entering the Market, the gatekeepers barely questioned or checked them; the few of them didn’t even pull out their White Fox Market consumption tokens and were directly let through.

The only strange thing was that Vikram always felt that a few guards’ eyes lingered on them as they passed through the Market.

"Were we discovered? That shouldn’t be; besides bloodstains, no other clues were left at the scene."

Fortunately, this feeling of being watched quickly left them, and Vikram and his group continued forward.

The Market had two large gates, so when Vikram and the others killed the guards at the entrance yesterday, the people inside didn’t notice at all.

Now, pushing open the second gate and stepping inside, the real Market immediately came into view.

The internal environment was nothing special; it was just a wall enclosing an area where buying and selling took place.

However, compared to legitimate shops, most of these sellers simply laid out their goods on a tattered cloth on the ground and hawked them.

Even though it was still midday, the Market had already gathered a large number of Survivors who came to purchase supplies.

The entire Market resembled an antique Market from Earth.

Before he could clearly see the specific situation inside, a string of curses came from his feet.

"Newcomer, are you blind? You’re stepping on my stall; quickly move your stinky foot."

Vikram calmly took a step back, lowered his head, and noticed a stall set up at the entrance by his feet.

His gaze swept over the items on the stall.

But with just one glance, an unconcealed look of disappointment appeared in his eyes.

"Newcomer, what do you mean? You just glanced at my goods and made that face. Let me tell you, everything on my stall is scavenged from resource points."

"If you can’t afford it, then get lost. Don’t stand here blocking my business."

Noticing Vikram’s expression, the stall owner cursed and reprimanded him again.

Vikram didn’t care; instead, he squatted down and looked at the stall owner lying on the stone ground.

"Are all the goods in your Market of this quality? Or are there better things for sale inside?"

He didn’t want to waste time; if all the goods were just scraps of metal scavenged from resource points like this, then there was no point in exploring further.

"Talk to me with some respect, you bastard! What’s wrong with my goods? Outside, these are all supplies that everyone wants to snatch. Why do they sound so worthless coming from your mouth?"

Vikram pursed his lips, said no more, and directly pulled out two crystals, tossing them to the other party.

"Is that enough?"

The stall owner extended both hands, steadily catching the crystals. Seeing Vikram so generous, his attitude immediately changed drastically.

"Enough, enough."

"Brother, us small-time merchants can only set up stalls at the entrance. Of course, there are good things inside the Market."

"You just need to go further in; the shops you see there are basically where good stuff is sold."

The vendor pointed towards the depths of the Market and said.

Vikram immediately stood up after hearing this, ignoring the constantly shouting vendors around him, and walked towards the depths of the Market.

It was a bit strange; perhaps because Vikram and the four women were new faces they had never seen before, both buyers and sellers on the street constantly scrutinized them from head to toe.

Among them were greed and ill intent, but most were looks of amusement and anticipation of a show.

"Hey, what do you guys think? Will these newcomers be taken care of by that survivor later?"

At a stall on the left, a seller poked a customer who came to buy from his stall, raising an eyebrow and asking.

The customer turned his head, looked at Vikram and his group, and immediately grinned, "These people are dressed so brightly and beautifully; they’re definitely the kind who haven’t experienced a good beating."

"And this kid even has four beauties by his side. Do we even need to guess?"

"I bet he’ll not only be severely fleeced later, but he might even be dragged into an alley and killed if that seller doesn’t like him. It’s very possible."

"I don’t think so. First, these people don’t look easy to mess with. Don’t forget, a bunch of people from the White Fox Shelter are patrolling the Market today."

"I think he’ll at most be fleeced, but he won’t die."

The two were pointing and commenting directly behind Vikram’s left, not bothering to lower their voices, which Vikram naturally heard.

Just as he was wondering if the local customs were as ’simple’ as they said, a survivor behind him reached out, preparing to put his hand on his shoulder.

"Hehe, I knew it. Look, that kid is entangled with Drake. He’s definitely not going to have a good day today."

Noticing the person behind Vikram, the buyer at the stall immediately showed a schadenfreude expression.
